The Women’s March on Washington gathered over a half-million participants in Washington D.C. to rally and march in solidarity for equality, acceptance. Additionally more than 600 “sister marches” took place throughout the nation, and around the globe. GLAAD rallied along with citizens and advocates from a variety of communities, joining our voices together for a stronger, more diverse, and more accepting United States and world.

GLAAD was an official partner of the Women’s March on Washington. In Los Angeles, GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis addressed the rally, talking about the continuous fight to be visible for LGBTQ people, women, immigrants, people of color, Muslims, people with disabilities, and so many more.

“When we relinquish our power to be visible, we allow the people who’d rather not see us to ignore us. Make us insignificant and small. Makes it easier to take away our rights,” said Ellis. “Don’t let them erase us. Demand nothing less than full and lasting acceptance for all women, for all LGBTQ people, for all people, full stop. That’s what it means to be American, and we won’t let anyone tell us different — not even the President of the United States.”
