Stephen Colbert

Stephen Colbert posted a video to the Late Show with Stephen Colbert (the show doesn’t debut until September 8) YouTube channel today congratulating gay people on Friday’s Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage nationwide.

He then proceeded to take aim at the four SCOTUS justices who dissented on the ruling, particularly Chief Justice John Roberts and his statement that the ruling “had nothing to do” with the Constitution.

Said Colbert:

“So gay couples, you can expect this card from him at your wedding: ‘You guys are perfect for each other, and a cancer on our democracy.’”

He also battered Scalia:

“Justice Scalia was a little more nuanced in his criticism, writing that if he ever joined an opinion that began the way Justice Kennedy’s majority decision did, ‘I would hide my head in a bag.’ I could have sworn he was already hiding his head in a flesh-tone cinch sack. Please come on my show, sir.”

CNN Mistakes Sex Toy Flag For ISIS Flag At London Gay Pride

CNN Mistakes Sex Toy Flag For ISIS Flag At London Gay Pride
They got one thing right — that’s definitely not Arabic.

CNN devoted a segment to a purported ISIS flag that was spotted by correspondent Lucy Pawle in London during the city’s gay pride celebrations Saturday.

“If you look at the flag closely, it’s clearly not Arabic,” Pawle said. “In fact, it looks like it could be gobbledegook. But it’s very distinctively the ISIS flag.”

That “gobbledegook” appears to be a an assortment of butt plugs, dildos and other sex toys arranged to look like the ISIS flag. Pawle went on to cast suspicion on a man dressed in black at the festivities, who she said was displaying the flag.

“I seem to be the only person who has spotted this, and nobody seems to be raising any questions or pointing it out,” she said.

ISIS has reportedly murdered gay men by dropping them off buildings.

CNN removed video of the segment from its website Saturday afternoon.

Ice Cream brand Ben & Jerry’s changed the name of their chocolate chip cookie dough to “I Dough, I Dough,” to celebrate the legalization of same-sex marriage nationwide yesterday reports Business Wire. Ben & Jerry’s CEO Jostein Solheim claimed in a statement that the ice cream brand boldly stands for LGBT equality everywhere:

“Ben & Jerry’s is proud of the Supreme Court’s landmark decision against discrimination as it boldly stands up for equality for same sex couples everywhere…and at Ben & Jerry’s, there’s only one way to celebrate: with a scoop of I Dough, I Dough, Marriage equality never tasted so good!”

The commemorative pint sleeve is available for a limited time at select stores and can be purchased online at the Human Rights Campaign’s store with all proceeds from sales benefitting the organization.

Ben & Jerry’s has long been a proponent and supporter of gay rights with the company becoming the first to offer full benefits to same-sex couples in the state of Vermont in 1989.

Former Rep. Barney Frank: Justice Scalia Is A Homophobe

Former Rep. Barney Frank: Justice Scalia Is A Homophobe
Gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people won two victories in the Supreme Court today. We expected the big one: the fourth in a series of opinions by Justice Anthony Kennedy—one of the last sitting Reagan appointees—vindicating our right to legal equality. The unexpected one was smaller in public impact but also significant: Justice Antonin Scalia’s disclaimer that he is not personally troubled by the fact that we can marry each other. After a series of opinions, speeches and public comments expressing his strong disapproval of us, vigorously defending society’s right to express this attitude in discriminatory public policies, Scalia begins his characteristically vitriolic dissent by protesting that “the substance of today’s decree is not of immense personal importance to me.

Gay actor Van Hansis (As The World Turns) has a new webseries in development, and he’s looking for help from fans to get it funded.

Hansis and James Ryan Caldwell created the series, Ms. Guidance. It’s a dark, satirical comedy about the entertainment industry. At the center of the story is Jenny Bump, age 34, a struggling narcissistic actress. After a nervous breakdown, Bump leaves her working life in New York City, and returns to the performing arts school she went to in youth, working as a guidance counselor.

Of course, to Bump, the job of counselor is untenable. Almost immediately, talking to talented young students puts her on the war path again, and she begins scheming to further her own career at any cost.

Ms. Guidance has already shot three of the six episodes in its first season, but Hansis and Caldwell need help with funding the rest of the project. Head over to Kickstarter, where you can read up on the series and/or make a donation.

Check out a video of the co-creators discussing Ms. Guidance, Jenny Bump, and why they’re using crowdfunding:
