Patrick Stewart And Ian McKellen Share A Kiss At 'Mr. Holmes' Premiere
Just when we thought Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart’s bromance couldn’t get any cuter.

McKellen and Stewart shared a kiss at the premiere of “Mr. Holmes” at ODEON Kensington in London Wednesday. The 74-year-old Stewart was there to support his friend, 76, who stars in “Mr. Holmes” as an older Sherlock Holmes who is hung up on an unsolved case from his past.

Last year, the two talked to The Huffington Post about their friendship, which blossomed on the set of “X-Men.”

“[O]ur coming together is a relatively recent thing,” McKellen said. “But we fell into each other’s arms because of our similarities in our career, and because of our age and because we like the same sort of things. Despite the fact that he’s from Yorkshire and I’m from Lancashire!”

“That’s the big difference between us,” McKellen continued. “If Patrick does something other people think is a bit strange, I just say he’s Yorkshire!”

High School Student Uses Senior Quote To Come Out In High Style

High School Student Uses Senior Quote To Come Out In High Style

barrett

As coming out becomes increasingly commonplace, you really have to go that extra mile to not get lost in all the streamers, confetti, and warbly Diana Ross covers. Maxwell Barrett, an 18-year-old senior at Raritan High School in Hazlet, New Jersey, rose to the occasion well: His senior yearbook photo (which finds him dressed smartly in tuxedo and bow tie) was published alongside the following kicky quote:

“Of course I dress well, I didn’t spend all that time in the closet for nothing.” –Anonymous

He’s quick to point out that most of his friends already knew, and, though he’d never broken the news to his parents, he could tell they suspected. “I had never done sports, or clubs. I was always just an art student,” he tells Huffington Post. “It was more of a confirmation to [my parents] than a coming out story.”

Barrett claims a yearbook supervisor was against running the quote (a slightly tweaked version of a quip he’d found online.) However, Hazlet Township Public School Superintendent Bernard Bragen couldn’t confirm whether that ever happened, telling HuffPo “my understanding is that it was never pulled.”

As for his motivations? Barrett says he simply “wanted to go out with a bang.”

He certainly managed to come out with a bang.

TV Reporter Flips Out After Being Attacked By Swarming Cicadas During Report: VIDEO

Katya LEick

It’s often said three kinds of people who instinctively draw themselves toward danger – firefighters, police officers, and journalists. And while you might say a swarm of cicadas doesn’t warrant the “danger” label, it would be hard to question the bravery of Topeka’s KSNT reporter Katya Leick, who was forced to face off against these flying critters while trapped on top of a tank for a report on “Victory Week” at nearby Fort Riley.

Penn State Fraternity Pledge Sues After Being Raped During Rush Party

Penn State Fraternity Pledge Sues After Being Raped During Rush Party

600_frat_houseIn a mirror image of the debate over sexual violence against women on college campuses, Reginald Stewart is suing another man, Charles Gibson, and the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, alleging he was raped while intoxicated.

Stewart, 19 when the incident took place in 2013, attended a rush party hoping to join the fraternity. The lawsuit claims that he was served several drinks by fraternity members, even though they knew he was underage and ever after he had reached a point of inebriation.

According to court documents, Stewart was escorted back to his dorm by Gibson and another frat brother. When he regained consciousness, Gibson was penetrating him anally without his consent, but he was too drunk to fight off the attack.

Stewart claims he contracted HPV and had to undergo reconstructive surgery to repair damage to his rectum.

Like similar incidents involving male on female rape, this one boils down to a “he said, he said” fight. According to Philly Mag, Gibson doesn’t deny having sex with Stewart that evening, but he claims it was consensual. He also denies giving Stewart HPV, calling the lawsuit “frivolous.” (HPV is an extremely common STD that can lead to anal cancer if not monitored and treated later in life.)

Philly Mag points out that this is not the first time a Phi Kappa Psi fraternity has been the target of sexual assault allegations and hazing allegations. In 2013, a hazing incident at the University of West Virginia resulted in criminal charges and the frat’s suspension.

Stewart seeking $450,000 in damages for the personal injury, assault and battery claims.

Rachel Maddow Dissects Why the Anti-gay Side's 'Fuzzy' Logic Still Wins Politically: VIDEO

Rachel Maddow Dissects Why the Anti-gay Side's 'Fuzzy' Logic Still Wins Politically: VIDEO

Maddow

On Rachel Maddow’s show last night, the MSNBC host took a look at the increasingly illogical and desperate arguments made on the anti-gay side in their fight against equality – pointing to Franklin Graham’s recent Wells Fargo boycott and the lack of “experts” in the Prop 8 fight in 2010 and the ongoing fight against “ex-gay” conversion therapy.

“But just the fact that they’re making not great arguments doesn’t mean that they’re losing their fights,” said Maddow. “Even as the logic keeps getting fuzzier and fuzzier and fuzzier on the anti-gay side, the political victories on the anti-gay side keep piling up.”

Maddow went on to discuss the latest additions to this anti-gay victory pile – North Carolina and Michigan, both of which gave a green light to increased anti-LGBT discrimination under the guise of “religious freedom.” She also invited on Larry Hall, the Democratic leader of North Carolina’s state House, to discuss the chamber’s disappointing vote yesterday.
