Lord Adonis Resigns With Scathing Letter Calling Theresa May The ‘Voice Of UKIP’

Lord Adonis Resigns With Scathing Letter Calling Theresa May The ‘Voice Of UKIP’
Theresa May’s infrastructure tsar has quit, delivering a scathing verdict on the Prime Minister’s approach to Brexit.

Europhile Labour peer Lord Adonis resigned as chairman of the National Infrastructure Commission, claiming May had become the “voice of Ukip” and the “extreme” right-wing of her party.

He said he was “duty bound” to oppose the Government’s European Union (Withdrawal) Bill when it comes to the House of Lords, reports the Press Association.

In his resignation letter, reported by The Sun and The Daily Telegraph, he told the Prime Minister: “Brexit is a dangerous populist and nationalist spasm worthy of Donald Trump.

“After the narrow referendum vote for an undefined proposition to ‘leave the EU,’ it could have been attempted without rupturing our essential European trade and political relations.

“However, by becoming the voice of UKIP and the extreme nationalist right-wing of your party, you have taken a different course, for which you have no parliamentary or popular mandate.”

But The Sun also reports that Government sources have insisted the Labour peer was quitting before “he was pushed”.

A National Infrastructure Commission spokeswoman confirmed that Lord Adonis had written to the Prime Minister.

Trump Attacks Amazon and US Postal Service, Denies Global Warming in Latest Set of Lunatic Tweets

Donald Trump fired off a set of tweets denying global warming and attacking Amazon and the US Postal Service.

Tweeted Trump: “In the East, it could be the COLDEST New Year’s Eve on record. Perhaps we could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming that our Country, but not other countries, was going to pay TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS to protect against. Bundle up!”

He also attacked the US Postal Service for charging too much, and Amazon for making money: “Why is the United States Post Office, which is losing many billions of dollars a year, while charging Amazon and others so little to deliver their packages, making Amazon richer and the Post Office dumber and poorer? Should be charging MUCH MORE!”

Finally, he had a swing at Democrats and immigrants: “The Democrats have been told, and fully understand, that there can be no DACA without the desperately needed WALL at the Southern Border and an END to the horrible Chain Migration & ridiculous Lottery System of Immigration etc. We must protect our Country at all cost!”

Doch was würde das bedeuten?

I’ve been saying it for a long, long time. #NoKopic.twitter.com/LQl7tGhMdO

How To Dispose Of Your Christmas Tree Sustainably

How To Dispose Of Your Christmas Tree Sustainably

Dry your eyes, Christmas is over. The presents have been opened, dinner has been reduced to leftovers and it is almost time to say goodbye to your tree before Twelfth Night.

Problem is the Christmas tree, while beautiful and festive, is not the most sustainable element of the festive season. Natural ones cause high levels of deforestation, and the disposal of artificial ones adds to our global plastic pollution problem.

“Approximately seven million Christmas trees are bought in the UK every year,” Beatrix Richards, Head of Forest Policy and Trade at WWF, told HuffPost UK. That’s a lot of greenery.

This year, do what you can to reduce the pollutive footprint left by the falling of our festive tree friends and follow our easy step guide.

1. Check whether your council will accept it as garden waste.

Be sure to check your local council’s website, or enquire directly with them, to find out their policy for Christmas tree disposal.

Some will be offering to collect them as garden waste (often if they have been chopped up), while others have organised designated drop-offs and tree recycling centres.

2. If you use a plastic one, use it for life (or at least for a long while).

“An artificial tree would have to be reused for more than 20 years to be greener than buying a fresh-cut tree every year,” Richards said.

So, no matter what trends may come and go throughout the years, if you’ve committed to using an artificial tree, treasure it for many festive periods to come.

3. Donate it to a local wildlife park.

Parts of your Christmas tree could serve perfectly as enrichment for zoo animals, perhaps even catnip for tigers and lions.

So check out if zoos or wildlife reserves in your area are taking donations, so that your tree can give an animal as much joy as it’s given you.

4. Replant your tree for next year.

The quicker you do it after Christmas, the more likely the tree is going to be able to re-adapt to outside conditions. Cover the tree in a pot of soil with tree mulch and fertilise it in the spring.

5. Look into renting your tree in 2018.

Start your sustainable plans for next year’s festive season now.

A range of companies offer rental options for Christmas trees, growing them locally all year around with a root-ball that allows them to be replanted after their rental time is over and they are returned.

Funky Festive even has an Eco trees option.

6. Check out charity collection options in your area.

Between now and Twelfth Night, various organisations and volunteers will collect your Christmas tree to help raise money for a good cause. Win win.

Check out the collection options for your local area here.

Trump Insists 16 Times in Interview That There was ‘No Collusion’, But ‘Even if There Was, It’s Not a Crime’

In an interview with a New York Times reporter at Mar-a-Lago, Donald Trump insisted a total of 16 times that there was “no collusion” with Russia in the run-up to the 2016 election.

“…frankly there is absolutely no collusion, that’s been proven by every Democrat is saying it…”

“Virtually every Democrat has said there is no collusion. There is no collusion.”

“So, I think it’s been proven that there is no collusion.”

“I can only tell you that there is absolutely no collusion. Everybody knows it.”

“I think that he’s going to be fair. And based on that [inaudible]. There’s been no collusion. But I think he’s going to be fair.”

“Everybody knows the answer already. There was no collusion. None whatsoever.”

“I think that Bob Mueller will be fair, and everybody knows that there was no collusion. I saw Dianne Feinstein the other day on television saying there is no collusion. She’s the head of the committee. The Republicans, in terms of the House committees, they come out, they’re so angry because there is no collusion. ”

“There was tremendous collusion on behalf of the Russians and the Democrats. There was no collusion with respect to my campaign.”

“[Alan Dershowitz has] been amazing. And he’s a liberal Democrat. I don’t know him. He’s a liberal Democrat. I watched Alan Dershowitz the other day, he said, No. 1, there is no collusion, No. 2, collusion is not a crime, but even if it was a crime, there was no collusion. And he said that very strongly. He said there was no collusion. And he has studied this thing very closely. I’ve seen him a number of times. There is no collusion, and even if there was, it’s not a crime. But there’s no collusion. I don’t even say [inaudible]. I don’t even go that far.
