Am Dienstagmorgen wird es zunächst ruhig und kalt. Im Osten ist es klar mit mäßigem Frost und am Alpenrand fallen die Werte auf -13 Grad. Im Westen ist dagegen schon die Warmluft angekommen.
Auf Sylt bleibt es am Morgen 8 Grad warm. In den westlichen Landesteilen bildet sich sehr dichter Nebel. Am Dienstag breitet sich die Warmluft weiter aus. Dazu kommt Regen aus Norden auf.
An den Mittelgebirgen schneit es zunächst noch, aber der Schnee geht immer mehr in Regen über. Das Weihnachtstauwetter beginnt. Es kann nochmal glatt werden auf den Straßen. Im Süden und Osten hält sich noch die kalte Luft.
Ein Verkehrschaos droht
In der Nacht zum Mittwoch erreicht der Schneefall dann den Südwesten. Es schneit kräftig und es mischt sich auch zusehends Regen unter den Schnee. Am Mittwochmorgen droht im Südwesten ein Verkehrschaos. Gleichzeitig setzt massives Tauwetter in den Mittelgebirgen ein. Nur im Osten bleibt es noch kalt. Die Tiefstwerte liegen zwischen +7 Grad im Nordwesten und -10 Grad an den Alpen.
Bis zu 30 Zentimeter Neuschnee
Am Mittwoch kommt der Schneefall nach Osten voran. Es droht nochmal Eisregen in Schwaben und Bayern. Gleichzeitig muss mit leichtem Hochwasser besonders am Schwarzwald, am Rothaargebirge und am Harz gerechnet werden.
Am Donnerstag wird es regnerisch. Nur an den Alpen über 1300 Meter schneit es noch. Dafür ergiebig. Es fallen bis zu 30 Zentimeter Neuschnee. Der Freitag wird auch ungemütlich, nass und grau.
Das Wetter an Weihnachten bleibt mild. Im Süden wird es am Heiligen Abend eher sonnig, im Norden bedeckt sein. Am 1. Feiertag wird es verbreitet sonnig und am 2. Feiertag kann es nochmal über 600 Meter einzelne Schneeschauer geben. Aber dafür wird es stürmisch im Westen.

Ein Krieg zwischen den USA und Nordkorea wird jeden Tag wahrscheinlicher.
Was zunächst hysterisch klingt, ist die nüchterne Warnung US-amerikanischer Außenpolitik- und Militärexperten. Im US-Magazin “Vox” haben sie den Konflikt zwischen dem Weißen Haus und dem Regime in Pjöngjang im Detail analysiert.
Ihr Fazit: Die Situation ist deutlich bedrohlicher, als gemeinhin angenommen – und ein Krieg mit Nordkorea rückt unbemerkt näher.
Tammy Duckworth, demokratische Senatorin und Irak-Veteranin, glaubt: “Der Präsident wird wahrscheinlich die Entscheidung treffen (anzugreifen) – und dann müssen wir bereit sein.”
Die Fakten sind tatsächlich erdrückend.Nordkorea hat in diesem Jahr seinen sechsten Atomtest durchgeführt. Zudem ließ Diktator Kim Kong-un mehrere Langstreckenraketen testen.
Auch wenn Experten bezweifeln, dass Kims Raketen eine US-amerikanische Großstadt erreichen können, wird die Gefahr greifbarer.
Und: Donald Trump auf der anderen Seite glaubt nicht an die Macht von Verhandlungen. Die US-Unterhändler hätten sich an der Nase herumführen lassen, wütete er einmal bei Twitter. Außenminister Rex Tillerson verschwende mit seinen diplomatischen Bemühungen seine Zeit.
Trump schlug eine Lösung vor: “Feuer und Zorn.” Die “totale Zerstörung” Nordkoreas. Auch Mira Rapp Hooper, Nordkorea-Expertin an der Yale-Universität, sagte “Vox”: “Wir sollten uns Sorgen machen.”
Trumps Berater könnten Eskalation vorschlagen
Denn ungeachtet Trumps wütender Rhetorik bei Twitter, spielen sich auch im Hintergrund kritische Entwicklungen ab.
Denn mit H. R. McMaster hat Donald Trump einen Nationalen Sicherheitsberater, der zwar über massive militärische Erfahrung verfügt, jedoch nichts von militärischer Abschreckung hält.
McMaster warnte zuletzt: “Es gibt Möglichkeiten, den Konflikt ohne Waffen zu lösen, aber die Zeit wird knapp.”
Auch der einflussreiche CIA-Director Mike Pompeo ließ mehrfach durchblicken, dass er einen Erstschlag gegen Nordkorea als Option betrachtet, das Nuklearprogramm des Feindstaates zu stoppen.
McMaster und Pompeo scheinen in der Vergangenheit eher zu Trump durchgedrungen sein als der de facto machtlose Tillerson und Verteidigungsminister James Mattis, der ebenfalls eher einen gemäßigten Kurs bevorzugt.
Dazu kommt etwas anderes: Kaum jemand in Trumps Team arbeitet an diplomatischen Lösungen. In Südkorea ist der Posten des Botschafters noch nicht besetzt, McMaster, ist weder Nuklear- noch Ostasien-Experte und hat keinen qualifizierten Assistenten an seiner Seite.
Im Außenministerium sind zahlreiche Stellen unbesetzt, zeitweise schien es, als würde fachmännisches Personal regelrecht vor Tillerson fliehen.
Die selbsterfüllende Prophezeiung
Die Situation droht, in einem Teufelskreis zu enden.
Denn je aufgeheizter die Rhetorik, desto intensiver bereiten die USA sich auf den Ernstfall vor. Je mehr Soldaten die USA auf der koreanischen Halbinsel stationieren, desto feindseliger reagiert das Kim-Regime.
37.500 Soldaten haben die USA mittlerweile in Südkorea stationiert. Hunderte kamen in den vergangenen Woche zu einer gemeinsamen Übung mit südkoreanischen Einheiten zusammen.
Ein früherer nordkoreanischer Diplomat sagte im November, es gebe auf der anderen Seite zehntausende Langstreckenraketen – “jederzeit bereit, zu feuern”. Die koreanischen Offiziere seien darauf trainiert, “ohne weitere Besprechung den Knopf zu drücken, wenn etwas passiert.”
Experten warnen vor einer “selbsterfüllenden Prophezeiung”.

A new study has found that gay couples tend to have better relationships when compared with their heterosexual counterparts.
The study, titled “Sexual Identity and Relationship Quality in Australia and the United Kingdom,” examined the relationship quality of bisexual, gay, lesbian and heterosexual people in Australia and the United Kingdom.

According to author Professor Janeen Baxter, the quality of intimate relationships of gay and lesbian people was high, if not higher than the quality of heterosexual couples’ relationships.
Baxter said:
“Our results provide robust evidence to combat deep-rooted and erroneous social perceptions of same-sex relationships being conflictual, unhappy, and dysfunctional.
“In fact, relationship quality in same-sex couples was as high as in heterosexual couples in the United Kingdom, and higher in Australia.
“Relative to heterosexual relationships, same-sex relationships tend to have more equitable domestic work arrangements, less defined gender roles, and a greater sense of social connectedness to a community.
“We believe these findings support policies to legalise same-sex marriage and parenting rights.”
UQ News reports that Baxter and the study’s co-author Dr Francisco Perales believe the findings suggest that heterosexual couples could in fact learn something from gay and lesbian couples.
“Further knowledge of the strategies deployed by gay and lesbian couples to maintain their relationship quality despite individual and institutional discrimination could help to develop new counseling tools,” said Baxter
However, the study also found that bisexual people had greater difficulties with the quality of their relationships.
Baxter and Perales suggest this could be because bisexual people often fail to fit neatly into either the heterosexual mainstream or the gay and lesbian community which could lead to poorer social networks and lower levels of social support.
