Trump Goes ALL-CAPS After Sham House GOP Russia Probe Finds (Shocker) No Collusion

Donald Trump is so giddy that the Republican-led House Intelligence Committee handed him what the NYT calls a “convenient talking point” by announcing the conclusion of their sham investigation into Russia meddling that he spewed out an ALL-CAPS tweet on Monday night.

Tweeted Trump: “THE HOUSE INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE HAS, AFTER A 14 MONTH LONG IN-DEPTH INVESTIGATION, FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF COLLUSION OR COORDINATION BETWEEN THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN AND RUSSIA TO INFLUENCE THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.”

THE HOUSE INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE HAS, AFTER A 14 MONTH LONG IN-DEPTH INVESTIGATION, FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF COLLUSION OR COORDINATION BETWEEN THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN AND RUSSIA TO INFLUENCE THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 13, 2018

The NYT reports:

Representative K. Michael Conaway of Texas, who is leading the investigation, said committee Republicans agreed with the conclusions of American intelligence agencies that Russia had interfered with the election, but they broke with the agencies on one crucial point: that the Russians had favored Mr. Trump’s candidacy.

“The bottom line: The Russians did commit active measures against our election in ’16, and we think they will do that in the future,” Mr. Conaway said. But, he added, “We disagree with the narrative that they were trying to help Trump.”

…The Republican findings hand Mr. Trump, who has dismissed the whole matter as a “witch hunt,” a convenient talking point even before Mr. Mueller interviews the president and possibly other key witnesses.

Of course, the Republican-led committee can say what it wants, and Democrats on that committee are disagreeing:

Democrat Adam Schiff released a statement on Twitter, writing: “GOP just shut down House Intel investigation, leaving questions unanswered, leads unexplored, countless witnesses uncalled, subpoenas unissued. If Russians have leverage over the President, GOP has decided that it would rather not know. The minority’s work continues…”

DowDuPont, the world’s largest chemical company, today announced that its openly gay COO Jim Fitterling would become the company’s chief executive officer.

DowDuPont is the product of the mega-merger last August of Dow Chemical and DuPont. It will soon be split into three publicly-traded companies focused on materials science, specialty products, and agriculture.

At that point, Fitterling will lead the materials science company which will be called Dow and will be the highest-ranking on the Fortune 500.

Fitterling came out to his fellow employees in 2014, after working for Dow Chemical since 1984.

Fitterling joins a tiny number of LGBTQ CEOs of Fortune 500 companies: Tim Cook at Apple, and Inga Beales, CEO of Lloyd’s of London, who is openly bisexual.

Congressman Dan Lipinski: The Anti-Equality Democratic Candidate in IL’s 3rd District

Congressman Dan Lipinski: The Anti-Equality Democratic Candidate in IL’s 3rd District

HRC, along with NARAL, SEIU, MoveOn, Planned Parenthood Action Fund and EMILY’s List are coming together to expose U.S. Representative Dan Lipinski’s anti-equality record heading into the Democratic primary on Tuesday, March 20.

Here are four reasons why Lipinski is a rubber stamp for the Trump-Pence administration and why the people of Illinois’ 3rd Congressional District would be better served in Congress by his opponent Marie Newman.

1. Lipinski’s bad record on LGBTQ equality

With a score of 56 on HRC’s Congressional Scorecard, Lipinski has the shameful distinction of being the worst-scoring Democrat in the U.S. House and Senate. The Illinois congressman sponsored the so-called First Amendment Defense Act which would allow widespread discrimination against same-sex couples, and earlier this year he stated in an interview that he doesn’t support marriage equality. In 2007, Lipinski voted against a version of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act on the House floor, and he is one of only two House Democrats who have not expressed support for the Equality Act.

2. Lipinski has repeatedly voted against women’s rights

Lipinski has rubbered stamped the Trump-Pence agenda to undermine women’s health care. Time and time again, he has voted to block his constituents from accessing birth control, cancer screenings and STI testing at Planned Parenthood, as well as wanting to outlaw abortion.

3. Lipinski votes against hard working Americans

Not only has Lipinski voted against the Affordable Care Act, which is responsible for providing affordable health coverage for more than 20 million Americans, but he also opposes raising the minimum wage to $15. Lipinski refused to join 167 House Democrats in backing the Raise the Wage Act, which would raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour over seven years.

4. Lipinski votes against immigration reform

In 2010, Lipinski voted against the DREAM Act and voted in favor of border wall funding.

The constituents of Illinois’ 3rd District deserve a progressive champion who will fight on behalf of all Americans against Donald Trump and Mike Pence’s discriminatory and divisive agenda — that person is Marie Newman.

We are excited to join forces with our allies to ensure Newman wins and the people of this district get the representation they deserve.

GLAAD-funded doc TransMilitary premieres at SXSW to rave reviews

GLAAD-funded doc TransMilitary premieres at SXSW to rave reviews

On Saturday, March 10th, the GLAAD-funded documentary TransMilitary, premiered at SXSW. TransMilitary chronicles the lives of four American transgender service members defending their country’s freedom while fighting for their own, and the larger efforts to bring an end to the ban on transgender people serving openly in the U.S. military. Director Gabriel Silverman, Co-Director Fiona Dawson, and Producer Jamie Coughlin previously created the popular Emmy®-nominated 2015 New York Times Op-Doc “Transgender, at War and in Love.”

The documentary received a standing ovation from the premire audience and rave reviews from critics.

The Austin Chronicle said:

“Expertly edited, the documentary interweaves the four subjects’ lives with statistics, research, and animations to create a seamless narrative that’s both informative and visually engaging. Personal, familial, and professional hardships are explored, but it’s TransMilitary’s stories of the brave transgender military service members and veterans that ultimately elevates the documentary from mere analysis to a compelling and emotionally moving portrait.”

The Hollywood Reporter said:

“The current state of things, as in nearly every other matter where Trump has a say, is in question. But one thing TransMilitary makes clear is that individual trans people can work effectively in the armed services, and that coworkers and top brass are not necessarily an obstacle to that service. (In cases we see hear, they’re vocally grateful for it.) Perhaps if Trump had actually served in the organization he now leads, he might be less confused on the matter.”

The premiere was followed by a reception where the film’s subjects and creators spoke about the film’s impact and importance.

In attendance were Equality for HER Founder Blair Imani and NCTE National Organizer Raquel Willis.

Raquel and I stopped by @glaad‘s party here at #SXSW to support our sister @LailaIreland! Happy belated birthday Laila! t.co/dR2ndnxfza pic.twitter.com/aGLT2MkkXe

— Blair Imani @ SXSW (@BlairImani) March 12, 2018

“As the Trump administration continues to attack trans Americans at every turn, including proposing a ban on trans service members, it is more vital than ever to elevate the experiences of trans service members,” said Zeke Stokes, Vice President of Programs at GLAAD, and an Executive Producer of TransMilitary, “SXSW provides a massive platform to share the important and powerful stories in of these brave patriots who want nothing more than to serve the country they love.”

In 2017, GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis walked the red carpet of the MTV VMAs with some of the TransMilitary cast to ensure that the real people who would be affected by Trump’s proposed military ban would be front and center to the American public. GLAAD also invited Laila Ireland to speak at the 2017 GLAAD Gala San Francisco to tell her story. Check out her speech below:

Funding for TransMilitary comes as part of GLAAD’s commitment to elevate the voices and stories of trans service members. The GLAAD Media Institute provides engagement, training and education for LGBTQ and allied community members and organizations desiring to deepen their media impact. Using the best practices perfected by GLAAD for more than 30 years of experience leveraging media to create change, GLAAD is training a new generation to accelerate acceptance for LGBTQ people, as well as other marginalized communities. The GLAAD Media Institute provided a grant to the film, which includes promotion, media outreach, and visibility assistance for the project.
