VH1 has  released a brand new trailer for RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 10 showcasing some of the upcoming queens and judges. Watch it above.

On the new season, which begins March 22, Asia O’Hara (Dallas, TX), Aquaria (Brooklyn, NY), Blair St. Clair (Indianapolis, IN), Dusty Ray Bottoms (New York, NY), Eureka O’Hara (Johnson City, TN), Kalorie Karbdashian-Williams (Albuquerque, NM), Kameron Michaels (Nashville, TN), Mayhem Miller (Riverside, CA), Miz Cracker (New York, NY), Monét X Change(Bronx, NY), Monique Heart (Kansas City, MO), The Vixen (Chicago, IL), Vanessa Vanjie Mateo (Tampa, FL), and Yuhua Hamasaki (New York, NY) will be competing for the top prize.

Headlining the judges line-up this season is Christina Aguilera who shows up in the trailer in a cotton candy pink ensemble. She’ll be joined by  Shania Twain, Lena Dunham, Abbi Jacobson & Ilana Glazer, Kumail Nanjiani & Emily V. Gordon, and Billy Eichner.

Kate Upton, Halsey, Padma Lakshmi, Courtney Love, Nico Tortorella, Audra McDonald, Ashanti, Logan Browning, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Carrie Preston, Andrew Rannells, Miles Heizer, Todrick Hall and Lizzo will also be guest judging, while Stephen Colbert, Andy Cohen, and Cheyenne Jackson are set to make guest appearances.

In related news, RuPaul this week expressed regret to the transgender community following backlash over an interview he gave to The Guardian in which he said he would “probably not” allow a transgender woman who had undergone gender confirmation surgery to compete on RuPaul’s Drag Race.

When asked if he’d let a biological woman compete on the show, RuPaul told The Guardian: “Drag loses its sense of danger and its sense of irony once it’s not men doing it, because at its core it’s a social statement and a big f-you to male-dominated culture. So for men to do it, it’s really punk rock, because it’s a real rejection of masculinity.”

He was then asked how a transgender woman could then be a drag queen, referencing Peppermint, a contestant from Season 9: “Mmmm. It’s an interesting area. Peppermint didn’t get breast implants until after she left our show; she was identifying as a woman, but she hadn’t really transitioned.”

When asked if he would accept a contestant who had physically transitioned, RuPaul replied, “Probably not. You can identify as a woman and say you’re transitioning, but it changes once you start changing your body. It takes on a different thing; it changes the whole concept of what we’re doing. We’ve had some girls who’ve had some injections in the face and maybe a little bit in the butt here and there, but they haven’t transitioned.”

Following backlash from the trans community and allies, RuPaul doubled down, tweeting: “You can take performance enhancing drugs and still be an athlete, just not in the Olympics.”

The remarks drew plenty of ire from former contestants:

My drag was born in a community full of trans women, trans men, and gender non-conforming folks doing drag. That’s the real world of drag, like it or not. I thinks it’s fabulous and I will fight my entire life to protect and uplift it.

Trans women were the first entertainers I ever saw in drag & have always been a big part of the industry. To now hear such words of segregation from an icon who has created a world wide community of unity, makes me sad. Is never been LGB so let’s not forget about the T!

Former Drag Race queen Willam wrote on Instagram: ‘We work with trans women every night side by side and for them to be denied the opportunities because of someone’s narrowminded view on what they call “drag” is fucked. And to my sisters who read this- doing the right thing ain’t always easy, but it’ll help u sleep at night. My motto is no sister left behind. I practice it every time i visit Mathu and when i stood up for him with the Emmy’s. Hell i did it in the airport yesterday with @therealtsmadison when we was running for our flight. Do something. Do it. Tag your favorite Ru Girls. I’ll start. Don’t let this slide. This is discrimination within our own community. @theonlyalaska5000@thebiancadelrio @bobthedragqueen@bebezahara @tyrasanchez @thejinkx@sutanamrull @violetchachki @sashavelour@sharonneedlespgh @chadmichaelsallstar

RuPaul suggested on Twitter Monday night that he’s listening.

Tweeted RuPaul: “Each morning I pray to set aside everything I THINK I know, so I may have an open mind and a new experience. I understand and regret the hurt I have caused. The trans community are heroes of our shared LGBTQ movement. You are my teachers.”

He added: “In the 10 years we’ve been casting Drag Race, the only thing we’ve ever screened for is charisma uniqueness nerve and talent. And that will never change.”

HRC Statement on International Women’s Day

HRC Statement on International Women’s Day

HRC released the following statement on International Women’s Day.

“This International Women’s Day, the Human Rights Campaign is proud to stand in support of women and the fight for gender equality around the globe,” said HRC Legal Director Sarah Warbelow. “Lesbian, bisexual and transgender women face disproportionate levels of violence and gender-based discrimination. HRC is committed to working with women and our allies to achieve a world where all women are empowered and respected — no matter the culture or society in which they live.”

United Nations human rights report noted that LGBTQ people are at a disturbingly elevated risk of homicidal violence, highlighting the increased risk that lesbian, bisexual, and transgender women face because of gender-based discrimination. Another study by HRC and the Trans People of Color Coalition estimated that transgender women in the United States face 4.3 times the risk of becoming homicide victims than the general population of all women.

NFL Prospect Derrius Guice Says Team Asked if He Was Gay in NFL Combine Interview

NFL Prospect Derrius Guice Says Team Asked if He Was Gay in NFL Combine Interview
Derrius Guice

Former LSU running back Derrius Guice said he was asked if he is gay during an interview at this week’s NFL Combine.

Guice made the disclosure during an interview with SiriusXM’s NFL show Late Hits, according to USA Today:

‘’It was pretty crazy,” Guice said in an interview on the SiriusXM NFL show Late Hits. “Some people are really trying to get in your head and test your reaction. … I go in one room, and a team will ask me do I like men, just to see my reaction. I go in another room, they’ll try to bring up one of my family members or something and tell me, ‘Hey, I heard your mom sells herself. How do you feel about that?’ “

Guice said he was told “to come in prepared” for the combine and everything that comes with it.

“It went exactly how everyone told me it would be,”  Guice said. “It’s exhausting. … It was a great experience. You’re being watched and tested the whole time.”

The NFL is looking into Guice’s claim, according to spokesperson Brian McCarthy.

Last year, a coach for the Atlanta Falcons asked NFL prospect Eli Apple if he is gay while scouting him as a potential addition to the team.

After news of Apple’s interview broke, Falcons head coach Dan Quinn released the following statement:

“I am really disappointed in the question that was asked by one of our coaches. I have spoken to the coach that interviewed Eli Apple and explained to him how inappropriate and unprofessional this was. I have reiterated this to the entire coaching staff and I want to apologize to Eli for this even coming up. This is not what the Atlanta Falcons are about and it is not how we are going to conduct ourselves.”

McCarthy, also spoke out about the apparent questioning having to do with Apple’s sexuality, saying, “This is disappointing and clearly inappropriate as the Falcons acknowledged. We will look into it.”

The Human Rights Campaign is responding to the report:

“The fact that Derrius Guice was asked by an NFL team — and a prospective employer — about his sexual orientation is absurd and inappropriate,” said HRC Director of Public Education and Research, Ashland Johnson. “With similar incidents already reported, it’s clear that the NFL did not do enough to prevent it from happening again. Guice’s experience illustrates the risks faced by millions of LGBTQ people today in employment, athletics, housing and other areas of their lives. It’s why we need swift action to condemn these kinds of practices and to fight for passage of the Equality Act to ensure comprehensive nondiscrimination protections for LGBTQ people. The NFL should take serious actions that address these unacceptable incidents and the perpetuation of an unwelcoming anti-LGBTQ environment, including publicly supporting the Equality Act.”

This would be a good time for the @NFL to not only condemn this incident, but to back the #EqualityAct. It’s time LGBTQ people had the same rights & protections as everyone else. t.co/BMN0h5hfgf

HRC Statement on NFL Team Asking About Player’s Sexual Orientation

HRC Statement on NFL Team Asking About Player’s Sexual Orientation

HRC issued the following statement after multiple news outlets reported on an unnamed team asking NFL prospect Derrius Guice “if he likes men” at the 2018 Scouting Combine.

Despite significant steps forward, many lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) Americans continue to lack explicit, uniform protections where they live. 31 states still lack clear, fully-inclusive non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people, meaning that LGBTQ people are at risk of being fired, denied housing, and denied services for who they are or whom they love. Discrimination is a real and persistent problem for too many LGBTQ Americans. Nearly two-thirds of self-identified LGBTQ Americans reported experiencing discrimination in their personal lives.

For these reasons, more than 100 companies have joined the Business Coalition for the Equality Act, a group of leading U.S. employers, including Fortune 500 companies, that support the Equality Act. The Equality Act would provide consistent and explicit non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people across key areas of life, including employment, housing, credit, education, public spaces and services, federally funded programs, and jury service.
