DISGUSTING PLASTIC DIVE OF THE DAY. Diver finds himself in plastic garbage patch off coast of Indonesia. “The ocean currents brought us in a lovely gift of a slick of jellyfish, plankton, leaves, brunches, fronds, sticks, etc…. Oh, and some plastic. Some plastic bags, plastic bottles, plastic cups, plastic sheets, plastic buckets, plastic sachets, plastic straws, plastic baskets, plastic bags, more plastic bags, plastic, plastic, so much plastic! Surprise, surprise, there weren’t many Mantas there at the cleaning station today… They mostly decided not to bother.”

The 1940s-era law that has become a key weapon against Trump’s agenda: “Under that law, the Administrative Procedure Act, federal agencies are required to provide a reasoned justification for their policy decisions and offer the public an opportunity to weigh in when they are creating new regulations, making notable changes to existing rules, or scrapping them altogether. Trump’s critics have seized upon these requirements as a mainstay of their lawsuits against his agenda, arguing not only that the policies are harmful, but also that the administration flouted the formal rule-making process in enacting them.”

CORRUPTION COSTS. Michael Flynn selling home to pay legal bills: “Michael Flynn, the retired Army general and ex-Trump national security adviser who pleaded guilty last year to lying to FBI agents about his Russian contacts, has put his Virginia home up for sale to pay mounting legal fees, friends and family members told ABC News. Flynn’s 13-year-old, three-bedroom townhouse in Old Town Alexandria outside Washington, which he bought three years ago, was listed for sale in December with an asking price of $895,000 — money he will use to pay his high legal defense debts, his brother Joe Flynn said Monday.”

NORTH KOREA. We’re willing to discuss giving up nuclear weapons: “The North Korean side clearly stated its willingness to denuclearize,” the statement said. “It made it clear that it would have no reason to keep nuclear weapons if the military threat to the North was eliminated and its security guaranteed.”

20 Best Love Quotes from the Movies

20 Best Love Quotes from the Movies

When you’re dating, it’s easy to let a bad date or two make you cynical. You can end up feeling like you’ll never find a relationship or love, and that your quest to find a partner is doomed.

If that sounds like you right now, you might need a heartwarming (and slightly cheesy) pick me up to remind you why finding love is worth it. To help you out, AA Executive Cars have put together this infographic celebrating love across seventy years of cinema. It includes some of the most inspirational and beautiful quotes about love and relationships from films across all genres, ranging from classic rom-coms like Sleepless in Seattle and Dirty Dancing to epic fantasies like The Lord of the Ring. You can even get your Disney fix, with a few choice selections from films including Finding Nemo and The Princess and the Frog!

These quotes celebrate the highs and lows of love in all its forms, from the fairy tale world of The Princess Bride to the dystopian future of The Terminator. Who can forget Julia Robert’s Anna Scott in Notting Hill telling Hugh Grant’s Will Thacker “I’m also just a girl standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her”?  And perhaps we should all follow the sage advice from Juno in our own love lives (and on your next POF date): “In my opinion, the best thing you can do is find someone who loves you for exactly who you are. Good mood, bad mood, ugly, pretty, handsome, what have you.”

We hope that these 20 quotes will leave you feeling re-inspired by love and dating, and positive about all the opportunities they can bring. Okay, so you might not meet a world famous actor right outside your front door, or perform a perfect dance number in the style of Dirty Dancing’s Baby and Johnny. But you might well go on interesting dates, discover new places and meet amazing new people. And sooner or later, we’re sure you’ll find love that will match anything out of the movies!

Without further ado, take a look at our selection of the twenty most romantic movie quotes of all time:

Despite the Trump-Pence Administration’s plan to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program that protects Dreamers — including approximately 75,000 LGBTQ Dreamers — from deportation, court action has kept it in place for the time being. HRC Opposes Trump-Pence Judicial Nominee Thomas Farr

HRC Opposes Trump-Pence Judicial Nominee Thomas Farr

Today, HRC sent a letter to senators urging them to oppose Donald Trump’s nomination of Thomas Farr to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina.

“Thomas Farr’s long career undermining the fundamental rights to vote raises concerns about his ability to enforce equal treatment under the law, particularly for African Americans and other historically disenfranchised groups of Americans,” said HRC Government Affairs Director David Stacy. “Farr’s nomination is another example of the Trump-Pence Administration’s attempt to impede progress towards equality by putting forth extreme and unqualified nominees to serve on our courts. The Senate must reject Farr and his callous disregard of the rights of millions of Americans to meaningfully participate in the political process.”

HRC will join numerous civil rights groups, including the NAACP Legal Defense Fund and the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, for a rally in front of the Supreme Court to highlight the terrible records of Thomas Farr and Kyle Duncan.

Thomas Farr’s shameful track record includes defending North Carolina’s voter suppression law and representing Jesse Helms’ Senate campaign — notorious for their racist tactics to intimidate and disenfranchise African American voters. According to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, “Mr. Farr has developed a niche legal practice defending discriminatory electoral laws that make it harder for African Americans to participate in our democracy.” Throughout his career, Farr has also defended employers who were charged with employment discrimination and resisted efforts to create safe working conditions for their employees.

HRC previously joined the NAACP Legal Defense Fund in calling for the committee to hold additional hearings after it was discovered that Farr failed to provide full and accurate testimony to the Committee.

Thomas Farr’s nomination is part of a larger trend of the Trump-Pence Administration naming extreme and unqualified nominees to serve on the bench — some of whom will serve lifetime appointments. HRC has opposed several anti-LGBTQ nominees including Gordon Giampietro, Howard Nielson, Kyle Duncan, Matthew Kacsmaryk, and Mark Norris. Last year, anti-LGBTQ nominees Jeff Mateer, Stephen Schwartz, and Damien Schiff were defeated following months of opposition from HRC and coalition partners.

The four of us chatted and laughed but then, sadly, got separated in the chaos of the Oscar’s. My bf and I searched for you both for the rest of the night but never found you again. And the couple just may be in luck, as Martin suggested to Vulture last week that he would like to see open relationships normalized.

Said Martin, speaking of playing Versace’s lover Antonio D’Amico: “I want to normalize relationships like this. It’s good for the world; it’s good for me as a gay man with kids. It’s important that we shed some light on power couples like this, even though he was quiet and behind the scenes and he was just there supporting his man for 15 years. I also believe there was a level of homophobia going around in his family where he was hiding, even though he says, “My relationship was very open and free with Gianni.” So I used that as well in front of the camera, and for that, I will always be very thankful.”

RELATED: Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef Take Us Through Their L.A. Home: WATCH

Martin told Vulture that playing his first scene, where the FBI interrogates D’Amico, was difficult: “One of the toughest scenes that I shot [was] the first, the interrogation when the FBI is investigating Antonio. It was a very excruciating scene for me. I mean, this guy was opening every door that was a secret from Gianni’s and Antonio’s relationship. I’m talking about bringing men into our lives. I’m talking about bringing escorts. That exposure is very heavy, and it can be extremely uncomfortable for me, for the family, but I’m here doing a job, and the story, once again, needs to be told, for people to see the level of unity between these two. The level of commitment after 15 years. The level of security between them and trust between them is so solid. We want to normalize another kind of reality for open relationships. And that’s what we’re doing. There’s absolutely nothing wrong. We’re just two very self-secure men that are completely in love with each other, that trust each other to the maximum level, and here we are. But the scene was very intense and painful. Excruciating. It was a long day.”

So yeah, Gus and Matt are in L.A. for a week….

Fighting for a Better Tomorrow

Fighting for a Better Tomorrow

Sarah McBride is no stranger to the fight for equality.

As HRC’s National Press Secretary, McBride regularly takes charge of campaigns to fuel the LGBTQ equality movement across the country. In 2016, she became the first openly transgender person to address a major party convention when she spoke at the Democratic National Convention. And as a board member for Equality Delaware, she advocated for the state’s gender identity protections and anti-discrimination policies that were signed into law in 2013.

In her upcoming memoir, “Tomorrow Will Be Different,” which came out March 6, McBride reflects upon the ever-growing strength of the trans equality movement, woven with her own personal journey through loss and adversity to become the nation’s leading transgender activist.

McBride recently spoke to Equality about her book, the fight for equality and the unexpected power of vulnerability.

You’re only 27! What inspired you to write a memoir at such a young age?

Throughout our movement, young voices have been central drivers of the change we’ve seen. And even though I’m young, I’ve experienced quite a lot, particularly in the six years since I came out as transgender. From the whirlwind relationship with my late husband Andy, to standing on stage at the Democratic convention in 2016, I’ve gained a deep understanding of both the urgency of this fight and the possibility for progress. After reading my book, my desire is for others to feel the same sense of passion and hopefulness that I do.

Why did you choose  “Tomorrow Will Be Different” as your book title?

The title draws on a line from my speech at the convention. I wanted to convey a sense of optimism, but also of responsibility. Tomorrow is always different. Sometimes it’s equality moving forward, but other times it’s a negative development. It’s the passage of a discriminatory law or the death of a loved one. Tomorrow isn’t always better, but I do believe that with hard work and compassion, we can make more tomorrows better than today.

You made national headlines when you came out as transgender while serving as student body president at American University. Can you tell us about this time in your life?

I was incredibly scared when I came out. Like many LGBTQ people, I worried that my dreams and my identity were mutually exclusive. But I was blessed with a supportive family, a loving group of friends, and a campus community that embraced me without hesitation. It was an early sign for me that things were changing and that with personal stories and greater visibility, we could help transform this country. At the same time, it was abundantly clear to me that my experience — of a support, love, and acceptance — wasn’t the universal experience for LGBTQ people across the country and around the world. The sense that it shouldn’t be a privilege to keep your family, secure housing, and be safe from violence led me into advocacy.

What inspires you in your work?

Without a doubt, meeting young trans people across the country lifts my spirits and rejuvenates my hope. When I was young, being transgender seemed impossible and being transgender while pursuing our dreams seemed incomprehensible. Today, there are hundreds of thousands of trans youth around this country who are both living their truth and dreaming big dreams all at the same time. The mere fact that these kids exist today demonstrates how far we’ve come.

You have committed yourself to being open and honest about who you are. Why do you think sharing your story and beliefs is so important?

I talk a lot in the book about the power of not just authenticity, but also vulnerability. I think in just laying it all out on the table, in saying this is who I am, this is what I fear, this is what I want, we are actually able to bridge significant divides. And those shared hopes and dreams, they span ideology, gender, race, religion, and geography. It may not be enough, but it is an important starting point.

Do you have a message to young LGBTQ people today who may be struggling with their identity?

I think it is just so important for every young LGBTQ person to know that even if they feel lonely, there are millions of people who see them, who love them, and who are fighting to make sure that they are treated with the dignity and respect that every person deserves. They need to know that they are beautiful, they are worthy, and they are powerful.

Sarah McBride’s book Tomorrow Will be Differentis out now.
