Troye Sivan Reveals Big Ariana Grande News and a Gorgeous Acoustic Rework of ‘My My My’ – WATCH

Troye Sivan Reveals Big Ariana Grande News and a Gorgeous Acoustic Rework of ‘My My My’ – WATCH

Recording artist Troye Sivan just dropped a stunning acoustic version of his hit single “My My My” from his forthcoming studio album. Listen to it above.

Sivan also gave an interview to BBC Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw and revealed that he has recorded a track for the new album with Ariana Grande.

Said Sivan: “This was not a planned announcement. But I’m so excited. It sounds exactly like I dreamt it would…Her and I are friends. She’s really fun. I said ‘would you ever sing on this song?’ And she just did it…My favorite thing is not telling people who it is, and then starting to play the song and as soon as she starts to sing, everyone’s like ‘are you serious?’ Her voice is nuts.”

Sivan recently gave an interview to The Guardian which called the young gay artist “pop’s greatest hope for the future.”

Says Sivan to the magazine: “From before I knew I was gay, I knew I wanted to be a singer, so I didn’t ever want to let [my sexuality] change that trajectory. I’m just doing what all the other pop stars are doing: writing love songs, singing love songs and putting love interests in my music videos. I think there’s power in living openly and truthfully, while also being gay.”

Some other things we learned in the interview.

His recent single “My My My” pays homage “to a certain clap sound in an old Madonna song.” See if you can hear it in the clip below.

He was personally involved in casting pornstar Brody Blomqvist (AKA Justin Brody) “In my defence I just thought he had a really great … look.”

His famous 2013 Coming Out video was done without the knowledge of his record label who he’d signed with two months earlier.

He used to watch YouTube compilations of the guys in the UK series Queer As Folk making out because he was too afraid to watch it on TV.

He was recently trashed on Twitter for throwing out a bouquet of flowers from a fan, says it was a big misunderstanding. “The thing that sucks was that people thought I ditched them 10 minutes later, but I kept them for three days.”

call me by your name happy ending

Oscar-nominated Call Me By Your Name left many viewers wanting with its bittersweet final scenes, so here’s a reworked version  (above) that may appease those who demand their endings be infused with saccharine sweetness.

Of course, there may actually be more stories to tell about these characters.

Back in October, we reported that Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino was considering a sequel to the film based on the Andre Aciman novel, and he recently let The Hollywood Reporter in on a few additional details of the plot turns he’s considering.

Aciman’s novel takes place in 1987 at the height of the AIDS crisis. Guadagnino told THR that he shifted the timeframe of the film back to 1983, close to the time that the HIV virus was discovered.

The sequel, Guadagnino said, would make the AIDS crisis “a very relevant part of the story.”

Reported THR:

“I think Elio [Timothee Chalamet] will be a cinephile, and I’d like him to be in a movie theater watching Paul Vecchiali’s Once More,” a 1988 film about a man who falls in love with a man after he leaves his wife, which was the first French movie to deal with AIDS. “That,” said Guadagnino, “could be the first scene [in the sequel].”

To justify his idea of a Before Sunrise sort of film trilogy, Guadagnino cites the final 40 pages of Aciman’s novel, which look ahead to the next 20 years in the lives of Elio and Oliver.

Added Guadagnino: “In my opinion, Call Me can be the first chapter of the chronicles of the life of these people that we met in this movie.”

Back in October, Dark Horizons reported:

Guadagnino, appearing at the BFI London Film Festival, spoke of his sequel plans during a Q&A: “I want to do a sequel because Timothee Chalamet, Armie Hammer, Michael Stuhlbarg, Amira Casar, Esther Garrel – they are all gems. The texture we built together is very consistent. We created a place in which you believe in the world before them. They are young but they are growing up.”

The sequel would be set seven years later and Guadagnino says his ideal scenario would be for the second film to be made for a 2020 release. This would put Chalamet about the same age as his character, while Hammer would be just two years older (as opposed to five years older like in the first).

In the original book, Elio and Oliver meet up 15 years later in the United States with Oliver now married with a wife and children. Guadagnino says unlike the book, Elio’s character won’t necessarily turn out to be gay: “I don’t think Elio is necessarily going to become a gay man. He hasn’t found his place yet. I can tell you that I believe that he would start an intense relationship with Marzia [Esther Garrel’s character] again.”

In other Call Me By Your Name news, Pitchfork reports that Sufjan Stevens will be performing the Best Original Song-nominated “Mystery of Love” at the 2018 Oscars.
