Gay Washington Post journalist Jonathan Capeheart gave an emotional interview about the impact Donald Trump’s election has had on him and other members of minority communities in the United States.

Speaking with Channel 4 News’ Jon Snow (seriously, that’s his name), Capehart explained why so many are distraught over the result of this election. “People aren’t just grieving the loss of Hillary Clinton, they’re grieving the loss of their future,” said Capehart.

“You have people, American citizens who are of Hispanic decent, Muslim decent, now wondering what is their place in their own country,” he added.

Capehart responded, becoming visibly emotional at one point saying, “That is a very powerful question, Jon, and it moves me almost into silence. The election of President Obama was a great moment for this country. And now we stand two months away from, excuse me, from all of that disappearing. And as an African-American, and as an American and a gay man, that scares me.”

Log Cabin Republicans Want Your Hard-Earned $$$ To Secure LGBTQ Advances Of Obama Years

OK, this is just weird.

Gregory T. Angelo, the president of the Log Cabin Republicans, issued a bizarre, logically incoherent letter bashing gay liberals while simultaneously asking them for money to make sure the Democrats’ pro-LGBTQ policies aren’t completely undone by the incoming Trump administration.

“Dear Friend,” the letter begins. (Friend? Surely, he’s not talking to us.) “For the past three weeks, I’ve been in regular communication with the Trump Transition Team, the group tasked with organizing personnel and policy for our president-elect.”

The letter quickly goes on to criticize the “LGBT Left” for “demonizing Donald Trump” when they should have instead been trying to have a relationship with him.

“After working for decades against Republicans rather than with them and putting all their faith into the failed candidacy of Hillary Clinton,” Angelo writes, “purportedly ‘non-partisan’ LGBT advocacy groups now face GOP majorities in the House and Senate, and a Republican in the White House for the next 4 — or perhaps even EIGHT — years.”

Which is precisely why, Angelo argues, Log Cabin Republicans are more important than ever before.

“Collectively, LGBT advocacy organizations on the Left have staff in the hundreds. Budgets in the millions. And yet, they don’t have a single point of contact in the incoming Trump administration,” he writes. “Log Cabin Republicans does.”

He continues: “Think about that. While LGBT liberals were breathlessly lamenting this fact to the New York Times, Log Cabin Republicans was quietly working behind-the-scenes to ensure the advances in LGBT freedom we have made thus far remain secure and continue in a Trump administration.”

Therefore, Angelo says, every gay person in America should open their pocketbooks and donate “generously — $250, $100, $50, or whatever you can give.” And, while you’re at it, why not join the self-hating group for an additional $60?!

Considering that 14 percent of LGBTQ Americans voted for Trump, we’re sure at least a few gay people will take this bait. As for the rest of us, we’ll stick to holding every single bigot accountable for their actions until the next election.

Mexico Lawmakers Reject Proposal to Legalize Same-Sex Marriage

A committee in Mexico’s lower house of congress has voted down a proposal to legalize same-sex marriage.

In May, Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto (above) called for the legalization of gay marriage in accordance with a ruling from 2015 Supreme Court ruling that found a ban to be unconstitutional.

However, on Wednesday the measure was defeated by the Commission on Constitutional Matters in a 19-8 vote.

In a summary published online by the Chamber of Deputies, commission chairman Edgar Castillo Martinez said the issue is now “totally and definitively concluded,” reports Reuters.

According to the Yucatan Times, during the debate Benajmín Medrano – a member of Nieto’s PRI party – came out as gay and said he would be voting in favor of the bill.

All members of the conservative party PAN voted against the bill, and members of the leftist parties Morena and the PRD voted in support of the bill.

According to a congressional source, although the initiative could technically still move forward this is unlikely to happen.

In September, Pope Francis voiced his support for an anti-gay protest in Mexico which was attended by up to 80,000 people. Later that month, a spokesperson for the Catholic church accused the country’s anti-discrimination watchdog of persecution.

Log Cabin Republicans: We’re In Contact With Trump Transition Team, Will Protect LGBT Rights

In a fundraising email to supporters Thursday night, Log Cabin Republicans President Gregory T. Angelo (above) claimed his group — and only his group — can save the LGBT community from President-elect Donald Trump.

Trump has pledged to repeal all of President Barack Obama’s executive orders, including those protecting LGBT people. He’s vowed to appoint right-wing Supreme Court justices who could at least partially overturn marriage equality and said he’d sign the horrific anti-LGBT “First Amendment Defense Act.”

Both Trump’s transition team and his leaked list of potential cabinet appointees are packed with anti-LGBT extremists in the mold of Vice President-elect Mike Pence. Hate groups including the National Organization for Marriage have already rolled out their agendas for a Trump presidency, and LGBT advocates both in the US and abroad are justifiably terrified. But according to Angelo, everything is under control.

“For the past three weeks, I’ve been in regular communication with the Trump Transition Team,” Angelo wrote. “While Log Cabin Republicans was working to have a relationship with our nation’s incoming chief executive, the LGBT Left was busy demonizing Donald Trump and fundraising off of bogeymen.”

Angelo went on to criticize “nonpartisan” LGBT groups for working against Republicans for decades, only to be faced with a President Trump and GOP majorities in Congress for the next four to eight years, which he said makes Log Cabin’s work “more important than it’s ever been.”
