Here’s A Map Of All 50 States Ranked From Hairy To Smooth

polls_chesthair_3004_569220_poll_xlargeThe good folks over at the gay dating app SCRUFF have put together a handy map ranking all 50 states from hairy to smooth because, well, why not? Information like this could be very useful for countless gay men as they plan their upcoming summer vacations.

Interestingly, states with colder winters tend to be hairier. Vermont ranked #1 for the most hairy, followed by Maine, Oregon, New Hampshire, and West Virginia.

Hawaii was ranked as the smoothest state, which doesn’t surprise us, followed by Puerto Rico, Nevada, Alaska (wild card!), and South Dakota.

But the SCRUFFtistics don’t stop there.

288 cities were also ranked from hairy to smooth. Everett, WA ranked the most hirsute city in the nation, followed by Evansville, IN, Portland, OR, Manchester, NH, and Alexandria, VA.

As for the least hair cities, Fayetteville, NC was found to be the smoothest metropolitan, following by North Las Vegas, NV, Murrieta, GA, Elk Grove, CA, and Temecula, CA.

Check out the maps below.

Chris Harrison Says The Audience Will Decide If There Will Ever Be A Gay 'Bachelor'

Chris Harrison Says The Audience Will Decide If There Will Ever Be A Gay 'Bachelor'
According to Chris Harrison, it’s up to the television audiences to decide if there will ever be a gay “Bachelor.”

“That’s really who dictates where shows go on television — where we go socially [in] television, entertainment, everywhere,” the host of “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” told HuffPost Live in an interview this week. “They will dictate when it’s time, if we’re ready for that, if it would be successful, if it would be a good business move — the audience always dictates where we go in reality television.”

Viewers, he added, were at the heart of all entertainment-related business ventures: “Believe me, when you stop watching a show … it’s off the air, or it will change.”

Harrison, who supports same-sex marriage, previously said he wasn’t sure if a gay “Bachelor” would be a good fit for the ABC reality series.

“Look, if you’ve been making pizzas for 12 years and you’ve made millions of dollars and everybody loves your pizzas and someone comes and says, ‘Hey, you should make hamburgers.’ Why? I have a great business model,” he told the New York Times Magazine last year. “I don’t know if hamburgers are going to sell.”

He added, “Is our job to break barriers, or is it a business? That’s not for me to answer.”

Gay Country Band Indiana Queen Releases 'With You,' Inspired By Lead Singer's Real-Life Relationship

Gay Country Band Indiana Queen Releases 'With You,' Inspired By Lead Singer's Real-Life Relationship
Gay alt-country band Indiana Queen just released their newest music video for the song “With You” from the album “This I Do Carry Unto The End.” The video is a melancholy yet hopeful love story shot and edited entirely on iPhones. The video features lead singer Kevin Thornton and his real-life partner.

“We found each other in our 40s,” Thornton says. “We had both given up on love in some ways. The video shows two people like that who have been beat up by love and life. Gay or straight, that’s something anyone can relate to.”

The band has been stirring things up in Nashville since the release of their new album. “We are starting to get lots of messages,” says Thornton. “Gay people out there telling us how much it means to them to see themselves represented in country music.”

Indiana Queen will be headlining Nashville Pride in June.

Jeb Bush Makes It Clear: He Opposes Marriage Equality And Supports Religious Liberty Laws

Jeb Bush Makes It Clear: He Opposes Marriage Equality And Supports Religious Liberty Laws

Jeb_Bush_by_Gage_SkidmoreSo much for Mr. Moderate.

After months of letting gullible reporters believe that he’s willing to soften the GOP’s fierce opposition to marriage equality, Jeb Bush has finally revealed his true colors. Unsurprisingly, they’re pretty homophobic.

In an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, Bush made it clear that not only does not he support marriage equality, but he also believes that opponents can choose to ignore nondiscrimination laws if they so choose.

“A big country, a tolerant country ought to be able to figure out the difference between discriminating someone because of their sexual orientation and not forcing someone to participate in a wedding that they find goes against their moral beliefs,” Bush said. “This should not be that complicated. Gosh, it is right now.”

Gosh.

Of course, what makes it complicated is people choosing to ignore laws. As a reminder, Bush was quick to embrace Indiana’s right-to-discriminate law.

Bush also made it clear that he did not believe that there was a constitutional basis for marriage equality and tried to justify his belief by pointing to Democrats.

“What’s interesting is four years ago, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton had the same view that I just expressed to you,” he said. “Thousands of years of culture and history is just being changed at warp speed. It’s hard to fathom why it is this way.”

The interview was just about as bad as you can imagine. That Bush gave it to the Christian Broadcasting Network, founded by the incomparable Pat Robertson, is a tip off that Bush is committed to courting the religious right base to win the nomination. He used all the best rhetoric from the 1990s to make his case.

“To imagine how we are going to succeed in our country unless we have committed family life, committed child-centered family system, is hard to imagine,” Bush argued. “We need to be stalwart supporters of traditional marriage.”

Bush is a convert to Catholicism and is pushing the John Paul II/Benedict line even as the Pope Francis is softening it. He apparently wants to outdo Rick Santorum in his appeal to conservative evangelicals.

The interview is a sign of just how out of touch Bush is with the general electorate. Polls consistently show a majority of Americans support marriage equality. Bush sounds like a throwback to his father’s era. At the same time, the likely Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton, is sending a letter of support to a young lesbian couple. The interview is also a reminder of his brother’s willingness to use marriage equality as a wedge issue in the 2004 presidential campaign. Apparently, the Bush brothers don’t have a problem making us political scapegoats.

One question that is unanswered by Bush’s interview is whether his gay enablers will stick with him. Ken Mehlman, the former Republican party chair who has been a vocal supporter of marriage equality,  was shepherding Bush around to big donors. It will be interesting to see if whether Bush’s true colors will have any impact on Mehlman, or if politics will trump principle.

Nebraska Lesbian Who Faked Horrific Hate Crime Sentenced to 90 Days in Jail for Violating Probation

Nebraska Lesbian Who Faked Horrific Hate Crime Sentenced to 90 Days in Jail for Violating Probation

Rogers

Charlie Rogers, the Lincoln, Nebraska lesbian who was found guilty of faking a hate crime for claiming she was attacked by three men who broke into her home and carved “dyke” into her stomach before setting her house ablaze, has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating probation, the Lincoln Journal Star reports:

Lancaster County Judge Thomas Fox sentenced Charlie Rogers Friday afternoon and gave her credit for seven days she served in jail in 2013.

Rogers, 36, was in court for not reporting to jail on Jan. 15 to finish a 90-day jail sentence, one of the orders of her probation.

During the Friday hearing, the former University of Nebraska basketball standout said she didn’t mean to violate the conditions of her probation.

“Please let me go home,” Rogers said to the judge, choking back tears. “I was scared.”

In March, she admitted that she violated her probation, and Fox ordered an investigation into her past so he’d have the information he needed to sentence her. Friday, he resentenced Rogers on her original charge of lying to police, which meant he could have given her anything from a warning to more probation to a 1-year jail sentence.

The AP adds an attorney for Rogers said Friday she had already applied to do the jail time on house arrest. If her request is denied, she must report to jail May 29.
