Queen Latifah Really Doesn’t Care If You Don’t Like The Lesbian Scenes In “Bessie”
Noted private person Queen Latifah stars in HBO’s new biopic on legendary blues singer Bessie Smith, who history tells us was bisexual. Unlike the Queen, Bessie doesn’t skirt the issue of Smith’s sexuality — she enjoyed liaisons with both men and women as blues singers of that era were wont to do.
Queen La had previously played a lesbian in 1995’s Set It Off, for which both she and Jada Pinkett-Smith were robbed of Oscar nominations. And while she has been an ally for ages, Queen has been notoriously cagey about her own orientation despite persistent rumors. When asked about the movie’s sex scenes, however, she was made her feelings very queer clear.
“People feel a type of way when they see any sexuality on-screen. I think its almost human nature. People are so fascinated by it. It shouldn’t even be a discussion,” Latifah told BET’s Clay Kane. “But it is, because people are still curious, and people still wonder how they feel about things. At the end of the day I don’t really care if someone feels uncomfortable about it. It is what it is, and it’s life. So you either deal with it or not. It’s just part of who she is, and I had to tell the story honestly.”

Larry Wilmore Isn't Buying the FDA's New Blood Donor Policy Forcing Gay Men to Stay Celibate for One Year: VIDEO
On Thursday’s The Nightly Show, host Larry Wilmore had a bone to pick with the FDA’s proposed guidelines to update its blood donation policies and allow gay and bisexual men to donate as long as they refrain from having sex for a year.
“A year? They’re gay men, not the Unsullied!” Wilmore exclaimed in reference to the elite warrior-eunuchs on HBO’s Game of Thrones.
Later, Wilmore invited on ‘Bag of Blood’ for more perspective on the controversy.
“I don’t think they thought this through, this would be torture.” said the bag. “A bunch of light-headed gay men who haven’t had sex for a year lying down next to each other on a bus? That’s Grindr on wheels.”

David Harris Shows Off His Rock Hard Muscles
Working for his first time in front of the camera, Brisbane-based personal-trainer-turned-model David Harris is captured here in pairs of Stonemen underwear. Shot by photographer Marc Debnam, the series stays true to the brand’s love affair with uninterrupted, wraparound print designs.
David Harris shows off everything in the shoot — each style, every print, not to mention a few prints of his own. David’s surfer-meets-the-Orient tattoos add more to the end result of each shot, and help to capture the adventurous, wanderlust-esque subject matter of Stonemen’s prints.
Despite David’s peak physique, the overall shoot is intimate, not muscle man. Debnam captures David Harris as he lies in bed, pillows and all, and then as he steps outside and looks out over his balcony. It feels like a Sunday morning slept in. No work, no workout. No business, just brunch. And these Stonemen styles look good enough to brunch in — because “to brunch” is definitely a verb.
