Laura Ingraham: ‘What If Colin Kaepernick Disrespected the Rainbow Flag Not the US Flag?’

Conservative right-wing radio host Laura Ingraham decided to involve the LGBT community in the consternation over San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick refusing to stand for the national anthem during a recent game.

Kaepernick invoked the ire of many right-wing talking heads for sitting on the side-lines during the anthem, which he says he did to protest the oppression of people of color in the U.S.

Kaepernick told NFL Media,  “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Seemingly not satisfied with how progressives and liberals have responded to Kaepernick’s action, Ingraham tried to stir the pot by suggesting that if it was a rainbow flag that had been “disrespected” by Kaepernick rather than the American flag, liberals would be up in arms.

Wrote Ingraham on Twitter, “What would have happened if Kapernick [sic] disrespected the rainbow flag bef the game?”

With her tweet, Ingraham is suggesting that liberals care more about the rainbow gay rights flag than they do about the American flag. Thus they don’t really love America and are not true patriots.

In other words, this is Freedom Fries all over again.

Reaction to Ingraham’s “Good Q”, was swift on social media and largely against Ingraham. Though there were many voices who voiced support for Ingraham’s sentiment.

One father who identified himself as a fan of Ingraham’s wasn’t pleased with her tweet, saying, “That question is very provocative coming from you. I am a big fan of yours,but this question reinforces divisive stereotypes.”

Another Ingraham fan took her hypothetical to the most fact-free, right-wing extreme, saying that if Kaepernick had somehow disrespected the rainbow flag, “liberals would want his head chopped off. Fact. They like that flag more than the USA flag. Fact.”

This Woofy Stud Recreated Britney Spears’ ‘Private Show’ in a Gym Locker-Room: WATCH

The legendary Ms. Britney Spears returned to the VMAs on Sunday night and turned in a solid performance that is on par with the consummate performer we know Spears to be.

While the decision to have Spears perform after Beyoncé did her Lemonade medley was, at best, questionable, it was fantastic to see the pop princess performing at the same award show in which she served up no less than three iconic performances.

In the wake of Spears’ performance, Dan Avery at NewNowNext did some digging on social media and came across one fan’s rendition of Spears’ new track “Private Show” that is today making the internet a little bit thirstier.

The video, recorded before Spears’ VMA return, shows the fan known as “Gutter Spice” doing a sexy ‘private show’ in his gym’s locker room.

Sadly, the performance is cut short by the arrival of a stranger, who has officially earned the title of Life Ruiner.

As of this posting, the Twitter video has been retweeted over 700 times and been liked over 2,000 times.

Among those “Gutter Spice” hopes has seen the video? His ex, as made clear with this pitch-perfect Britney-related VMA screengrab.

Why Is Rick Perry Doing Dancing With the Stars?

Disgusting man Rick Perry, former governor of Texas, just got cast on Dancing with the Stars. So is this just a very charitable definition of star?

Rick Perry — who, you’ll recall, really really really hates gays — just spent the last few years at a career crossroads. If things had gone his way, he’d have become president. Instead, he will be waltzing poorly for America to laugh at.

Apparently he’s planning to use the platform to raise money for veterans. We’ve heard this sort of promise from Republicans before, so the veterans might want to ask for Rick’s donations in cash rather than check.

Joining Rick will be his intellectual peer, Ryan Lochte. Also Vanilla Ice, Babyface, Marilu Henner, and a whole bunch of people who will make you say, “not sure who that is but I think I saw them listed as a featured guest that one time I watched a CSI with my mom.”

In case you need a refresher on Rick, he’s the guy who said that being gay is like being an alcoholic, and that that both groups could just choose to stop their destructive behavior. He also supported ex-gay torture camps. Nice guy! Should be fun to watch him twirl around on a dance floor.

There are also long-standing rumors about him being gay — but who knows, rumors are easy to start, and this particular one was fueled by a Ron Paul supporter, so it doesn’t exactly come with a veneer of trustworthiness.

Matt Bomer is Going to Play a Transgender Sex Worker and It’s Instantly Controversial

Matt Bomer is set to play a transgender sex worker in the upcoming film Anything, co-starring John Carroll Lynch and directed by Timothy McNeil.

Variety reports:

“Anything” is based on McNeil’s play of the same name. Lynch plays a man who is suicidal over the death of his wife and moves from Mississippi to Los Angeles, where he can be under the watchful eye of his protective sister, played by [Maura] Tierney. He then begins an intense friendship with Bomer’s character, a transgendered sex worker. The unlikely new couple must reconcile their vastly different backgrounds as they fill the void in each other’s lives.

“Anything” is being produced by Hauptman, Louise Runge, and Ofrit Peres. Bomer, Tony Lipp, and Scott Wexler also executive produce.

Actor Mark Ruffalo has also signed on as an executive producer of the project.

The casting of Bomer as a transgender woman is reviving longstanding grievances between the trans community and Hollywood. Bomer joins Eddie Redmayne and Jared Leto in the list of cis men who have played recent roles depicting the stories of trans women.

Reaction to the news of Bomer’s casting was not welcome among many trans actors, advocates and allies who took to social media to voice their displeasure.

The announcement regarding Bomer’s casting comes shortly after word that a Michelle Rodriguez film called Tomboy, in which she plays a transgender role, was being renamed (Re)Assignment.

Wrote one Instagram user:

Awhile back I decided to do some poking around to see what updates I came across concerning the deplorable new movie formerly known as “Tomboy: A Revenger’s Tale” starring Michelle Rodriguez (@MRodOfficial). It has now been renamed “(Re)Assignment”. Apparently “Tomboy” was to insensitive of a title. Written and directed by Walter Hill (from a story by Denis Hamill), the film centers on an expert assassin who is double-crossed and transformed into a woman (Rodriguez) by a rogue surgeon (Sigourney Weaver), and then sets out for vengeance. This movie is a remake of “Johnny Handsome” with a Gender bending twist. Transgender actress Jamie Clayton (Sense8) says she was blocked by Bomer on Twitter after trying to engage with him about his new role in Anything:

Clayton had tweeted an article to Bomer and Rodriguez the night before about transgender representation in Hollywood, and said “I really hope you both choose to do some actual good for the trans community one day.”

Bomer has spoken out in the past for transgender rights.

Back in October 2015, he was active in the campaign to defeat anti-LGBT activists who were trying to do away with Houston’s equal rights ordinance (HERO) and were especially focused on demonizing transgender people.

“The messages being broadcast across Houston attacking LGBT people in an attempt to repeal the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO) go beyond misleading – they’re horrifying,” Bomer wrote in an email for HRC. “These malicious ads, funded with a lot of money from anti-equality opponents, slander innocent people with slogans like ‘no men in women’s bathrooms’ and imply transgender Houstonians want non-discrimination protections as a means to abuse children.”

In an interview with Sirius XM earlier this month, Bomer told Bruce Bozzi that a transgender woman taught him to embrace his own sexuality:

“I was working at the Utah Shakespeare Festival after my sophomore year of college, and we had a hair and makeup artist who was a transgender girl and did the entire company’s hair and makeup. Her name is Kennedy,” he said. “She did shows when she was very dolled up, but in her day-to-day life she lived very simply, and she was raised in a Mormon family, which was very conservative…Growing up it was very hard for her, and to hear the trials and tribulations she had to go through as a Mormon person who really felt like she was born in the wrong body, I really felt like, ‘My god, if this person can really look this deeply into themselves, what am I turning a blind eye on?”

How this plays out remains to be seen, but it’s an issue that’s not likely to go away soon, especially as qualified transgender actors continue to make strides in Hollywood.
