Christopher Wray

NUNES MEMO. FBI Director Christopher Wray urged White House not to release it: “FBI Director Christopher Wray told the White House he opposes release of a classified Republican memo alleging bias at the FBI and Justice Department because it contains inaccurate information and paints a false narrative, according to a person familiar with the matter.”

OLYMPIC RAGE. Megyn Kelly reportedly pissed that Katie Couric gets to cover the Olympics.

Kathy GriffinTHR. Kathy Griffin in exile: ‘Over these past eight months, Griffin’s f**k-you house has become her f**k-you fortress. Or perhaps her f**k-you prison. She’s remained holed up here, plotting her Hail Mary comeback, having escaped for a spell to Europe, where she says she found more forgiving audiences. Mostly, though, she’s been nursing her wounds. “I didn’t commit a crime,” she says defiantly. “I didn’t rape anybody. I didn’t assault anybody. I didn’t get a DUI. I mean, my God, there are celebrities that f**king kill people.”‘

HILLARY CLINTON. Apologizes for letting man who committed sexual assault against staffer keep his job. “The short answer is this: If I had it to do again, I wouldn’t.”

BRAZIL. School censors everything sexual orientation and gender-related in school textbooks.

GAWKER. Far-right troll Mike Cernovich wants the former gossip site: “For the past eighteen months I have assembled a video and audio crew who are talented at creating viral content,” Cernovich writes in the letter, addressed to Gawker bankruptcy plan administrator William Holden. “I also work with a network of independent journalists. Since Gawker has brand recognition, a blog with a high page rank, and two large social media accounts, my team will be able to leverage these properties to continue my journalistic work.”

PDA OF THE DAY. Sam Smith and Brandon Flynn.

Kevin SpaceyHOUSE OF CARDS. Production has resumed without Kevin Spacey. ‘Netflix did not disclose what roles Ms. Lane or Mr. Kinnear will play other than that they will be brother and sister. Mr. Kinnear, 54, and Ms. Lane, 53, are both Academy Award nominees. Robin Wright, the co-star of “House of Cards,” will be at the center of the final season.

RHODE ISLAND. Lawmaker proposes banning ‘gay panic’ defense: “Democratic Rep. Kenneth Marshall has introduced a bill to restrict the use of a victim’s sexual orientation or gender as a defense by defendants claiming provocation, diminished capacity or self-defense. It would prohibit the court from allowing such information into evidence.”

Harte Linie gegen Einwanderer

11 Reviews Of Donald Trump’s SOTU Speech

11 Reviews Of Donald Trump’s SOTU Speech
Donald Trump undertook a delicate balancing act Tuesday night as he urged lawmakers to work toward bipartisan compromises, but pushed a hard line on immigration.

Trump, in his first State of the Union speech, gave no ground on the contentious issue of whether to shield young immigrants known as “Dreamers” from deportation.

Aiming to keep conservative supporters happy as he looks to November congressional elections, Trump was visibly impressed with himself (see video above), but here’s how it went down elsewhere…

Luntz is one of America’s best-known public-opinion gurus and has been consistently critical of Trump despite being a strategist for the Republican party.

Normally his tweets are lightly (in Twitter terms) critical such as when he commented on the Britain First retweet controversy.

Ironically, President Trump’s Twitter account accused multiple news organizations of “putting out so much fake news” right after retweeting a false claim that the attacker in this video was a “Muslim migrant.” pic.twitter.com/tuVWzecUtN

Tonight, I owe Donald Trump an apology. Tonight, I was moved and inspired. Tonight, I have hope and faith in America again. It may go away tomorrow… But tonight, America is great again. #SOTU

Americans FINALLY have a president fighting for their best interests abroad. 37 MAJOR trade deals on @realDonaldTrump’s trip to Asia totalling more than $250 million. We won’t lead from behind anymore. #SOTU

Melania hasn’t spoke publicly about the speech but she did arrive on her own…
Anyone catch this? Melania Trump failed to stand with everyone else when Trump stated: “In America we know that faith and Family, not government and bureaucracy are the the center of Democracy”#SOTU#StateofOurUnionpic.twitter.com/lrsuVdWD48

Missed this photo from last night: First Lady Melania Trump departs Capitol after State of the Union (via pool) pic.twitter.com/RmKb1DJ7xY
Melania Trump looks as happy as someone whose husband slept with a porn star while she was pregnant… #SOTU
The Washington Post opinion writer wasn’t swallowing the whole “unity” thing.
Trump pitted current immigrants against future ones. And his deeper argument remains that immigration at anything close to current levels is basically a malevolent and destructive force. t.co/wK5lMQIMcg

January 31, 2018
“Trump actually doubled down on pretty much every aspect of his presidency that large majorities of Americans have found so searingly polarising and divisive. The real core of the speech was his effort to rhetorically recast the key elements of that approach as unifying and conciliatory without moving past them at all.”
This was a theme echoed by Jon Favreau, former-speech write for President Obama.

“Americans are dreamers too” is also intentionally divisive on an issue where 80%+ of the public agrees, so don’t tell me Trump even attempted to unify.
*NEW COLUMN* 75% of Americans who watched President Trump’s SOTU speech liked what they heard. This spells big trouble for the Democrats. t.co/56m26KTrG3pic.twitter.com/ZnPtLHZRJK

January 31, 2018
Hmm, liking a speech is a very different kettle of fish to liking a presidency – perhaps when the number below is around 75 percent across the entire country the Dems really will be worried.
Donald Trump’s approval rating is above 50% in only 12 states | Analysis by @CillizzaCNNhttps://t.co/wFf6xTxswspic.twitter.com/9RBMQxqfBx
Regardless, Piers writes:

“For such a seriously divisive and polarising President, who is currently languishing with just 39% personal approval ratings, these were sensationally good results. “Interestingly, 8/10 Americans in the poll felt the President was trying to unite the country with his speech and two thirds of Americans said it made them feel proud. “Less than a quarter that watched said it made them feel scared or angry.”
That’s right, we live in a world in which less than 25 percent of Americans not being terrified of their own President is deemed a success.

8) NANCY PELOSI

The Democratic leader was far from impressed and doesn’t look set to take Trump up on his offer of cooperation when he said:

“Tonight, I call upon all of us to set aside our differences, to seek out common ground, and to summon the unity we need to deliver for the people we were elected to serve.”

Trump creates disorder and then complains about the lack of order. He throws bipartisan deals in the trash bin and then bemoans the lack of cooperation.
Amazing, inspirational speech @realDonaldTrump To the haters in the media, and those that wanted him to fail, nobody cares what you have to say. America is back. Thank God

But here’s a reminder from just last week about just how quickly Sean will completely U-turn on his principles to fit his narratives.
Sean Hannity: The New York Times is trying to distract you. They say Trump tried to fire Mueller, but our sources aren’t confirming that! Last night’s HISTORIC #SOTU speech outlined the Trump Admin’s record-setting accomplishments in year one – more than 2M new jobs, largest tax cut in history, ISIS on the run – and presented an optimistic vision for building a SAFE, STRONG & PROUD America. Let’s get it done. #MAGApic.twitter.com/EseRB1POw1

January 31, 2018
He is of course forgetting to mention all of the economic success lauded by Trump during his speech can almost entirely be attributed to non-Trump factors, but when you stare at someone like Mike Pence stares at his boss, you have no choice but to play it up.

Melania – watch out. Mike Pence is about to make a move on your husband. pic.twitter.com/TqU2P40wKz
Mike Pence’s catatonic eyes drilling fiendish love holes into the back of Trump’s weird half-empty Easter basket head. Who can watch that? #SOTU
No one knows if he watched the speech last night or not but the very next day news broke that suggested he had just carried on working instead.

It was revealed he is seeking to interview the former spokesman of Trump’s legal team as part of an investigation into potential collusion between Russia and Trump’s campaign to sway the 2016 US presidential election.

Corallo may be questioned about reports that Trump had dictated a misleading statement on a meeting in June 2016 that his son held with a group of Russians, the source said.

This should all end well…

The President is reportedly considering asking his AG to *prosecute* a special counsel who is investigating his administration. Would immediately plunge the country into constitutional crisis. t.co/RWJe6DTDIn

Yesterday, amid news that airlines are cracking down on emotional support animals, a woman’s emotional support peacock went viral across social media.

CNBC reported:

United Airlines said a woman brought a peacock with her for a flight Saturday from Newark Liberty International Airport, despite several warnings that the bird did not satisfy the airline’s guidelines. The bird did not fly.

This animal did not meet guidelines for a number of reasons, including its weight and size,” United spokeswoman Andrea Hiller told CNBC. “We explained this to the customer on three separate occasions before they arrived at the airport.”

The peacock has its own Instagram account as well. It gets around, and enjoys hanging out with nude people as well.

Theresa May Refuses To Say Whether Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson Told The Truth About His Conduct

Theresa May Refuses To Say Whether Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson Told The Truth About His Conduct

Theresa May has repeatedly refused to say whether embattled Cabinet minister Gavin Williamson has told the truth about his personal conduct before he became an MP.

The Prime Minister ducked questions over the Defence Secretary’s departure from a fireplace company days after a meeting to discuss his relationship with a junior colleague.

Williamson has also refused to answer detailed queries about his move from Elgin and Hall in 2004, but has claimed that he had a “flirtatious relationship” with the woman concerned.

A key protege of the PM, he raised eyebrows by revealing in the Daily Mail his links to the unnamed former, just hours after the Guardian had asked him for answers to key questions about the incident.

On her trip to China, May was asked why the scrutiny of Williamson’s case was different from that of Damian Green, who was fired from Cabinet before Christmas following misconduct allegations.

Asked if she was confident the Defence Secretary had told “the truth about why he left Elgin and Hall”, the PM replied: “What has come out is something that happened even before Gavin was a member of parliament, let alone a minister.

Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson

“In relation to Damian Green, the report showed the ministerial code had been broken, it was on that basis that I took the decision.”

Pressed further on whether he had told the truth, she replied: “Gavin has told people about something that happened before he became a Member of Parliament, let alone became a minister.”

Williamson is under pressure to explain whether he was subject to an internal disciplinary process and why he kept the job at the firm off his official and social media profiles.

The Defence Secretary claimed the fling “never went further” than sharing a kiss with the woman “a couple of times” and that it “stopped as suddenly as it had started”.

He had told Daily Mail he decided to leave the company, on amicable terms, in order to save his marriage to wife Joanne, who forgave him.

Yet key questions remain, including why he failed to alert the Cabinet Office about the affair when he was first made a minister. He informed Whitehall and Downing Street only after being approached by the Guardian last week.

Williamson claims that he had informed local party officials of the incident when he was being selected for his Staffordshire seat in 2010.

His lawyers have refused to reveal whether the woman reported Williamson’s behaviour to her line manager and an internal process followed. The terms on which he departed and whether he received a payoff are also unknown.

The Defence Secretary was handed a shock promotion to his new Cabinet role last year, after predecessor Sir Michael Fallon was forced to quit over claims he had behaved inappropriately towards women.

Alabama Gavels in Legislative Session With Eyes on 2018 Elections

Alabama Gavels in Legislative Session With Eyes on 2018 Elections

The Alabama Legislature returned to Montgomery on Jan. 9 for the final legislative session before statewide elections begin in June.

After a 2017 legislative session in which Governor Kay Ivey signed an anti-LGBTQ adoption bill into law, the 2018 session could be a much less contentious session when it comes to LGBTQ equality. As is the case around many Southern states this winter, legislators weary from anti-equality losses and anxious about upcoming elections are withholding many anti-LGBTQ bills considered in previous sessions.

In an Alabama still reeling from now-Senator Doug Jones’ victory over disgraced former Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore, legislators are waking to the power of the more than 200,000 equality voters across the state. Equality voters—a voting block comprised of not only the 60,000 LGBTQ voters across Alabama, but our allies who stand on the right side of history—will be taking that power to the polls again in 2018 as we elect state legislators and statewide leadership.

HRC Alabama invites equality voters across Alabama to join HRC and Equality Alabama on Wednesday, Feb. 28 for our Equality Lobby Day at the Alabama State House. This will be an opportunity to meet with lawmakers running for reelection and to tell them why equality matters to you, your family, and community.

The HRC Alabama team is glad to be on the ground in Montgomery each legislative day working to protect our progress. We hope you’ll consider joining us on Feb. 28.

For more information on the Alabama Legislature or on Equality Lobby Day, please contact Eva Kendrick at [email protected].
