Gus Kenworthy officially qualified on Sunday to join the U.S. Olympic team headed to PyeongChang, South Korea for the Winter Olympics in February.

Wrote Kenworthy of the video below: “My 2nd place run from today’s fifth and final Olympic selection event. SO pumped to put this run down and solidify my spot in the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang! Very proud to be heading to Korea on behalf of my family, my hometown, the USA and the LGBTQ community!!! Woohoo!!! ?@usfreeskiteam”

Kenworthy’s 2nd place run qualified him for the Olympic slopestyle team. He had hoped to compete at PyeongChang in both slopestyle and halfpipe, but he took a brutal tumble during his halfpipe run which makes qualifying there a challenge this time. But it appears he’s thrilled to have the opportunity to win another medal.

Kenworthy joins out figure skater Adam Rippon as the first two gay men to represent the U.S.A. at the Winter Olympics. Kenworthy skated in Sochi during the last Olympics, but he was still in the closet, and came out shortly afterward.

NBC Olympics writes:

While Kenworthy is now assured a spot on the slopestyle team, he’s likely on the outside looking in for halfpipe. The three automatic spots have already been allocated to David Wise, Alex Ferreira and Torin Yater-Wallace, and the discretionary spot appears likely to go to Aaron Blunck.

Discretionary picks for both slopestyle and halfpipe are expected to be announced in the next few days.

Gus celebrated on social media: “I’M GOING BACK TO THE OLYMPICS!!! ???️‍?

5 Exfoliating Toners To Boost Your Glow This Winter

5 Exfoliating Toners To Boost Your Glow This Winter
The weather is grey and it looks like our skin is mimicking the skies.

Everyone is trying to get a glowing complexion and Glossier’s new ‘Solution’ launched to fan fare as it claims to do just this, by exfoliating the skin without any rough scrubbing or polluting microbeads.

But Glossier are not the first beauty brand to dabble in liquid exfoliants (also known as exfoliating toners).

Taken from South Korean beauty, liquid exfoliators (ie. toners which remove dead skin cells that block block pores and fine lines), contain either alpha hydroxy acids to exfoliate the skin’s surface and/or beta hydroxy acids to unclog pores.

Glossier’s Solution contains both, plus Polyhydroxy Acid, which they claim “increases potency while keeping the formula gentle on skin”.

Liquid exfoliants are made for the modern working lifestyle where a ten-minute “radiance boosting” mask may take too long.

Here are a few which won’t break the bank:

Tory MPs Attack Theresa May For Risking Next Election With Response To Cross-Party NHS Demands

Tory MPs Attack Theresa May For Risking Next Election With Response To Cross-Party NHS Demands

Tory MPs have criticised Theresa May’s “disappointing” response to a cross-party demand that the government move urgently to deal with the future of NHS and social care.

Sarah Wollaston, the chair of the Commons health committee said the prime minister had showed she “lacks ambition”.

Johnny Mercer, the Plymouth MP and former soldier who campaigns on mental health issues, suggested the government was heading for an election defeat with a “reality check at the ballot box”.

It comes as a YouGov poll suggested 73% of Tory voters believed the state of the was a NHS serious concern.

In November, 90 MPs, including 33 Conservatives, signed a letter calling for a NHS and Care Convention to be set up to come up with a “sustainable” system for healthcare.

The prime minister responded with a three paragraph letter on Sunday evening.

Theresa May’s response to cross-party NHS letter

In their letter to the prime minister, the MPs said: “The need for action is greater now than ever.

“We understand that fixing this is immensely challenging and involves difficult choices.

“We all recognise, though, that patients and those needing care are too often failed by a system under considerable strain. We believe that together we owe a duty of care to the people of this country to confront the serious challenges to the NHS and the social care system.”

May’s response did not go down well with many of the Tory MPs who had signed the initial letter.

I share the disappointment of @sarahwollaston This is not a time for business as usual on funding of NHS and social care. I hope she and @leicesterliz and @normanlamb will lead a cross-party effort. t.co/W9Yg1YKqQx

Really? We have waited since 18 November for this reply? Not good enough. Our Prime Minister needs to prove she can deal with the biggest challenge of our time and now – #itsnotjustaboutBrexit@sarahwollaston@normanlamb@leicesterliz Cross party is the effective way forward pic.twitter.com/aiGEJtZzDd

A disappointing response to a letter I was pleased to sign. This is THE ISSUE of our generation of politicians, regardless of how it ‘polls’ in focus groups. Like Defence, there are some challlenges Government of the day must meet, or face a reality check at the ballot box. pic.twitter.com/ULbxx0ER5F

— Johnny Mercer MP (@JohnnyMercerUK) January 21, 2018

The response lacks ambition. We need a clear understanding from PM that NHS, public health & social care are inextricably linked and urgency of the need to review current & long term funding as a single system

— Sarah Wollaston (@sarahwollaston) January 21, 2018

MPs from other parties also sharply criticised May including former Lib Dem coalition health minister Norman Lamb and Liz Kendall, the former Labour shadow minister for care and older people.

Deeply disappointed PM has failed to grasp opportunity of cross party work on future funding of NHS & social care, which has considerable support in Parliament. Govt must reconsider @normanlamb@sarahwollastonpic.twitter.com/bnDaSYiWpp

— Liz Kendall (@leicesterliz) January 21, 2018

Really frustrating response from @theresa_may to letter from 90 MPs across Parliament. We all agree on urgent need to confront massive challenge in NHS and social care. Please don’t miss opportunity @sarahwollaston@leicesterlizpic.twitter.com/esgtH3jFu8

— Norman Lamb (@normanlamb) January 21, 2018

The Tory MP frustration with May comes amid severe winter pressures on the NHS that have seen thousands of operations delayed.

The prime minister has insisted that the health service was “better prepared” than ever before this year.

In her Cabinet reshuffle, May agreed to Jeremy Hunt’s plea to keep in him in place as health secretary and expand his title to include social care.

Channel 4 Veganuary Post Sparks Outrage Among Vegans As Broadcaster Is Urged To Apologise

Channel 4 Veganuary Post Sparks Outrage Among Vegans As Broadcaster Is Urged To Apologise

Vegans are urging Channel 4 to apologise after the broadcaster uploaded a now-deleted post mocking people who take part in Veganuary.

In a post uploaded to Instagram, Channel 4 put up a picture of Countdown with the words “u asswipe” and the caption “when your friends say they’re doing Veganuary”.

The post from Sunday night has since been deleted, but the organisers of Veganuary are urging the broadcaster to apologise.

Veganuary has grown in popularity over the past few years, with 165,000 people signing up for the challenge to try a vegan diet for the month of January.

In a post uploaded to Facebook, the charity Veganuary said: “Apparently Channel 4 – the broadcaster that supposedly champions unheard voices, inspires change and stands up for diversity – thinks it’s cool to insult the 165k people who are doing Veganuary.

“People take part in Veganuary for loads of reasons – to improve their health, to protect animals, or to help the environment. All pretty good things, in our book, and we’re surprised Channel 4 disagrees. Many people are vegan because of sincerely held beliefs about not causing cruelty – something that’s a protected characteristic under the 2010 Equality Act. We hope Channel 4 didn’t mean to discriminate – why not tell Channel 4 why you’re vegan and ask them to apologise?”

Although Channel 4 has deleted the image, vegans have taken to commenting on other Instagram posts uploaded by the broadcaster to share their disgust.

Sad to see @Channel4 post this on their @instagram

This is offensive and discriminatory.

Many people choose #Vegan for health reasons as well as moral and religious purposes.

Ch4 claim to support minorities and diversity but this is a huge fail.#Veganuarypic.twitter.com/xpc3lzcs5P

@mahonalex very disappointed to see that @Channel4 has taken to making grossly offensive comments against the vegan community and those who want to create less suffering in the world. Is this the direction you will be taking the Channel? Very sad if so. pic.twitter.com/jBew39Legl

HuffPost UK has contacted Channel 4 for comment.
