Kubicki: “Merkel hat entweder keine Ahnung, oder uns für dumm verkaufen”

FDP-Vize Wolfgang Kubicki hat Bundeskanzlerin Angela Merkel (CDU) scharf angegriffen – weil die Union in den GroKo-Sondierungen laut Berichten das deutsche Klimaziel für das Jahr 2020 aufgegeben hat. 

Das ist passiert:

► Kubicki sagte der Nachrichtenagentur Reuters: “Es ist wirklich ein Treppenwitz der Geschichte, dass die Union, vereint mit den Grünen, uns das verwehrt hat, was sie den Sozialdemokraten jetzt innerhalb weniger Stunden auf dem Silbertablett serviert.”

► Am Montag wurde bekannt, dass Union und SPD im Falle einer Großen Koalition das Ziel einer Reduzierung des CO2-Ausstoßes um 40 Prozent bis 2020 kippen wollen.

► Bei den Jamaika-Sondierungen hätten Union, FDO und Grüne drei Tage darum gerungen, sagte Kubicki. Merkel habe “entweder keine Ahnung, oder uns für dumm verkaufen wollen”, sagte der FDP-Vize über die Klima-Meldung.

Darum ist es wichtig:

Die Klimapolitik war einer der Knackpunkte bei den Verhandlungen zwischen Union, FDP und Grüne. Gerade beim Thema Kohlestrom gab es Streit. 

Dass Union und SPD in dieser Sache schnell zu einer Einigung gefunden haben überrascht nicht. Beide Parteien wollen Arbeitsplätze in Kohlekraftwerken schützen und liegen ideologisch nicht so weit auseinander wie FDP und Grüne.

Dennoch nahm Kubicki die bekanntgewordene Einigung von SPD und Union zum Anlass für eine Attacke gegen die Kanzlerin. Wie er das zuletzt häufiger getan hat. In einem Interview deutete sich zuletzt an, dass Kubicki eine Neuwahl ohne Merkel offenbar lieber wäre als eine Fortsetzung der Großen Koalition.

Was ihr noch wissen müsst: 

Union und SPD begründen die Abkehr vom Klimaziel 2020 laut Parteikreisen damit, dass das Ziel ohnehin nicht mehr erreichbar sei. Im Wahlkampf hatte Merkel noch versprochen, Wege zur Einhaltung des Ziels zu finden.

The season five mid-season premiere focuses on immigration.

Say farewell to Major Crimes Tuesday at 9 p.m. Eastern on TNT. The Mary McDonnell-led procedural also featured gay character Rusty, played by Graham Patrick Martin. Check out our interview with Martin here.

One of Marvel’s most exciting original series wraps its debut season Tuesday. Marvel’s Runaways features a ragtag group of friends taking teenage rebellion to a whole new level. Poof! A new season of The Magicians appears Wednesday at 9 p.m. Eastern on Syfy. Relieve some of the best bon mots from gay character Eliot in the compilation above.

While you were sleeping off that New Year’s Eve hangover, the third season of EastSiders dropped on Netflix. The beloved dramedy created by and starring Mad Men’s Kit Williamson is taking the show on the road, with a season that sends Williamson’s Cal and Van Hansis’ Thom on a cross-country trip, encountering characters played by Wilson Cruz, Tuc Watkins and Colby Keller along the way. Olivia Nova war noch nicht lange in der Pornobranche. Die aus dem US-Bundesstaat Minnesota stammende Frau fing erst im März 2017 damit an, sich beim Sex filmen zu lassen. 

Am Sonntag wurde die Leiche der 20 Jahre alten Nova in Las Vegas gefunden. Das berichtet unter anderem die britische “Daily Mail”.

Die steile Karriere im Porno-Business schien die junge Amerikanerin zuletzt nicht glücklich zu machen. Das belegt unter anderem einer ihrer letzten Tweets.

Die 20-Jährige hing nach eigenen Aussagen immer noch an ihrem Ex-Freund, der sich im April das Leben nahm.

Dafür musste die junge Frau offenbar viele üble Kommentare einstecken. “Mein Freund brachte sich zwei Tage vor meinem Geburtstag im April um. Über so etwas macht man keine Witze. Bin immer noch nicht über ihn hinweg”, schrieb sie in einem Tweet.

Jeremy Hunt Told Theresa May ‘A Captain Does Not Abandon His Ship’, Sources Claim

Jeremy Hunt persuaded Theresa May to let him stay as Health Secretary after declaring that “a captain does not abandon his ship”, HuffPost UK has been told.

In an impassioned, personal plea to the Prime Minister during a lengthy meeting to discuss her reshuffle, Hunt cited the public service ethos of his late father, a distinguished Navy admiral.

He declared it would be “dishonourable” to leave his post at a time when NHS staff were facing such a difficult time coping with winter pressures.

May wanted to offer Hunt an expanded post of Business Secretary, with a beefed-up role to help British firms prosper post-Brexit.

But the Health Secretary urged the PM to rethink, pointing out that doctors, nurses, midwives and other health workers were working so hard that he felt duty-bound not to leave the department.

Hunt’s father, Admiral Sir Nicholas Hunt, died aged 82 in 2013, after a distinguished record commanding ships at every senior officer rank. He ended his career in the post of Lieutenant of the Admiralty, the personal representative of the Queen in her capacity as Lord High Admiral.

In his tense, hour-long meeting, the Health Secretary also made a powerful case for taking more control of social care policy, taking in responsibilities for a reform of the system conducted by the Cabinet Office.

Downing Street announced on Tuesday that the Cabinet Office’s social care unit would now transfer to the Department of Health, which will also take over the much-awaited Green Paper on social care due this summer.

May was so impressed that she agreed that a new title of Secretary of State for Health and Social Care should be created and Hunt allowed to stay on.

Hunt – who also rejected plans to replace First Secretary of State Damian Green in a cross-Whitehall backroom role – is now on course to become the longest-serving Health Secretary in history.

He will surpass the tenure of NHS founder Nye Bevan in next month and by June 19 will have outlasted Tory predecessor Norman Fowler, who has the record of being in post for five years and 272 days.

A lack of beds and the threat of flu outbreaks have forced the cancellation of routine operations to avoid chaos in hospital A&E departments.

Both Hunt and the PM have apologised for the cancellations, and Hunt is battling for more long-term funding to match his plans to expand training of extra doctors and nurses.

HuffPost UK revealed on Tuesday that Business Secretary Greg Clark was being lined up by May to replace Hunt as Health Secretary. 

Clark was swiftly reappointed to his current post after Hunt persuaded the PM he should not be moved.

Convicted criminal Joe Arpaio has a documented record of inmate abuses, unjustified arrests, and racial profiling

NEW YORK –  GLAAD, the world’s largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, released the following background information on former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio in response to reports he is running for U.S. Senate in Arizona.

Arpaio, who served as sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona for 24 years, was found guilty of issuing racist, anti-immigrant policies after a judge ordered him to stop targeting immigrants for traffic stops and detaining undocumented immigrants without a legal basis. Arpaio also gained national attention for his inhumane Tent City jail, which he boasted was a “concentration camp.” This past August, President Trump sparked outrage after pardoning Arpaio from his federal charge of criminal contempt over his refusal to end unconstitutional immigration patrols in Arizona.

According to the Williams Institute, an estimated 267,000 adult undocumented immigrants (Latinx, Black, Asian, and Muslim) identify as LGBTQ. Arpaio’s anti-immigrant ideology has created an environment in Arizona that increased the profiling, deportation, and detention of immigrants, including LGBTQ immigrants. Transgender immigrants are often disproportionately detained in immigration centers and suffer a higher rate of abuse.
