Following Home Burglary, Colton Haynes Is Having A Messed-Up Week

So far it’s been a rocky week for Colton Haynes: He lost thousands of dollars after his Hollywood Hills home was burglarized.

But what’s really upset him is the media’s coverage of the crime.

As Pink News reports, Haynes claimed on SnapChat that “even though someone broke into my house and stole a bunch of stuff, that’s not going to get me down.”

Gossip site TMZ leapt on the story, which displeased Haynes — as demonstrated by this follow-up Twitter post:

My home was broken into a few days ago & alot was stolen. I am ok. I don’t understand why it’s necessary that my personal info is on TMZ

Frank Ocean Will Not Be Getting Any Grammys Because He Missed a Deadline

Frank Ocean Will Not Be Getting Any Grammys Because He Missed a Deadline

Frank Ocean missed a deadline for submitting his recent albums Blonde and Endless for Grammy consideration and is out of the running, Billboard reports:

A source confirms to Billboard that neither album was submitted for consideration by Ocean’s labels, management or other reps, even though both were released well before the 2017 Grammy eligibility cutoff date of Sept. 30, 2016.

Blonde (also known as Blond) — which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for the week ending August 25 with 276,000 equivalent-album units, the third-largest total of the year — was released on Ocean’s own Boys Don’t Cry imprint, although many traditional label functions for the still digital-only release were handled by Apple Music. Whether the album was intentionally not submitted for the Grammys or an oversight took place — which may have been the case last year with Drake’s “Hotline Bling,” which also was not submitted — was unclear at press time.

Mothers of Transgender Children Meet with HRC Houston Members

Mothers of Transgender Children Meet with HRC Houston Members

Post submitted by Melissa Vivanco, HRC Houston Community Engagement co-chair and Board of Governors

Last week, Erika R. and Kimberly S. visited with HRC members and supporters in Houston to share their personal stories about raising transgender children. Mini Timmaraju, Women’s Vote Director at Hillary for America, also came to meet Erika and Kimberly.

Erika and Kimberly shared two very different stories. As a pastor, religion played an important role in Kimberly’s story. Her church was involved in her child’s diagnosis and recommended the dangerous practice of so-called “conversion therapy.” Kimberly went on to describe the day when she realized her four-year-old was talking about wanting to die and how this could not continue.

Erika realized something was different about her child at an early age and let her child wear what they wanted growing up.  At the age of 11, her child sent an email from the other room about being transgender.  Even though Erika was ready to support her child from the beginning, it did not mean her path was any easier.

As Texas residents, Kimberly and Erika are both dealing with school boards and local officials who are not supportive of their transgender children. That’s why this election is so important to both of them. They both believe that the only way to get assistance in dealing with Texas laws is through federal legislation, which is why both of these brave mothers are united in support of Hillary Clinton.  In fact, this is the first time Kimberly will vote for a Democrat in her lifetime.

Reflecting on how impactful this meeting was for me, I believe the path forward in opening hearts and minds is for other mothers of the movement to find the courage like these amazing mothers did. We need more parents to speak out and share their stories.

Over the past several years, HRC has seen dramatic gains in transgender visibility and acceptance. Despite this increase, we have seen a slew of hateful anti-transgender legislation and an epidemic of violence against transgender women of color.

Parental support is a key component in the fight for full equality for transgender and gender-expansive youth. When parents and families support and affirm transgender children, they help create a safer and more accepting world for them. Check out HRC’s Moms for Transgender Equality and Dads for Transgender Equality video series to learn more.

“90210” Star Luke Perry Is On The AARP Cover, Because Life Happens Fast

Where were you on October 11th?

If you happen to be Luke Perry — the ’90s star who played moody Dylan “I just need time to think” McKay on “Beverly Hills, 90210” — you were unceremoniously slapped on the cover of AARP The Magazinecausing the Internet to philosophize about the fleetingness of life as we know it.

Indeed, he’s now 50-years-old, and we’re all supposed to be really upset for some reason.

Join us in wishing Luke Perry of ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ a happy 50th birthday! pic.twitter.com/QWz8TsjGpL

An AARP rep told The Huffington Post that this isn’t “an official cover of a physical copy of the magazine,” but was rather created to make us think of our lives as a barely cohesive chain of regrets that can only be broken once we perish as a “bit of fun” to celebrate Perry’s birthday on social media.

This did absolutely nothing to curb everyone having a collective meltdown on Twitter.

@AARP You just made a whole generation of people who thought they were still young very depressed

— Sam HawkBadger (@hwkbgr) October 13, 2016

So… Luke Perry is on the cover of AARP magazine as its newest member. Does any one else feel sick right now?

— Marc Lamont Hill (@marclamonthill) October 17, 2016

Luke Perry’s AARP cover means you’re old t.co/tV2JNVHxDM

— Sanusi Alao (@SlowestPoison) October 17, 2016

Just saw Luke Perry on the cover of the AARP magazine in case they ask for my cause of death.

— shauna (@goldengateblond) October 17, 2016

Now Luke Perry is older than Wilford Brimley was when he shot Cocoon.

— Mike Ryan (@mikeryan) October 16, 2016

Meanwhile…

Thank you for birthday messages ??

Larry Flynt Offers $1 Million for Scandalous Audio or Video of Donald Trump

Larry Flynt Offers $1 Million for Scandalous Audio or Video of Donald Trump

Larry Flynt Trump

Larry Flynt’s Hustler companies are offering “up to $1 million dollars for verifiable video footage or audio recordings for use prior to the November 8 election clearly showing Donald Trump engaging in illegal activity or acting in a sexually demeaning or derogatory manner,” the porn mogul writes in a press release:

Mr. Flynt states, “I have always celebrated women. Women in all shapes and sizes. To treat a woman like Mr. Trump himself has is both disappointing and unbelievable, especially coming from someone who wants to be our President.”

Mr. Flynt continues to be appalled by the hypocrisy of our elected officials who dictate how the American people should live their lives behind closed doors while themselves engaging in the variety of activities they publicly condemn. Mr. Trump claims that “nobody has more respect for women than me” despite tremendous amounts of evidence to the contrary. Mr. Flynt has made it his mission to call these hypocrites out and provide the public with as much information about their indiscretions as possible.

The last time Mr. Flynt made such an offer was in 2007 when he announced that he was willing to pay one million dollars for documented evidence of illicit sexual liaisons with a prominent member of public office. He also made similar offers in 1998 during the impeachment trial of President Bill Clinton over the Monica Lewinsky affair to root out hypocritical officials who had engaged in the same behavior they publicly condemned.

Flynt is also promoting ‘The Donald’, an adult film parody of the candidate:

Municipal Equality Index Shows Noteworthy Progress on Transgender Equality

Municipal Equality Index Shows Noteworthy Progress on Transgender Equality

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 5th annual Municipal Equality Index was released this week, and among its encouraging findings is the consequential progress being made on transgender equality in cities across America.

This continues a positive trend that the MEI has tracked – and encouraged – since 2012. Transgender-inclusive healthcare benefits are being offered to employees of 86 municipalities this year – up from 66 in 2015 and just five in 2012 – and the growth of cities offering those benefits to their employees outpaces the growth in the number of cities rated. The MEI’s issue brief on Transgender-Inclusive Health Benefits is available here.

In a year when anti-transgender state bills grabbed headlines across the country, cities continued to listen to the voices of transgender youth and adults in their communities, responding appropriately and respectfully to their needs and committing to ensuring equality for all. In Cleveland, which has had a non-discrimination ordinance on the books for some time, took the additional step of removing a transgender exclusion from the public accommodations section of the city ordinance. Chicago did the same.

Both Jackson, Mississippi, and Juneau, Alaska,  joined the ranks of cities offering non-discrimination protections on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity to their residents and visitors. And Charlotte joined these cities and many more when it passed a non-discrimination ordinance that led anti-LGBTQ state legislators to pass the discriminatory HB2.

Nineteen states and more than 100 cities, including all but three of the 20 largest cities in the United States, now have non-discrimination protections for transgender people in places of public accommodation. More than 135 million Americans—or 42 percent of the U.S. population—live in jurisdictions with these protections. Municipalities continue to lead the way: 24 million Americans live in cities where the local ordinances outpace the state in offering nondiscrimination laws that protect citizens from discrimination on the basis of gender identity.

The full report, including detailed scorecards for every city, as well as a searchable database, is available online at www.hrc.org/mei.
