'Apprentice' Transcript: Trump Critiques Woman's Skin, Protests He's Not Gay

Cyndi Lauper, who led a contestant team on the episode in question, says the transcript shows Donald Trump being true to form.
Germany Pays Reparations to Gay Men Jailed for Sodomy

Paragraph 175, which outlawed homosexual acts, remained on the books until 1994.

THE ART OF THE DEAL. Donald Trump’s Atlantic City casino The Trump Taj Mahal has officially closed its doors: “The Trump Taj Mahal had been in trouble for years, along with the rest of cash-strapped Atlantic City, where five casinos have closed since 2014, including Trump Plaza. Of the seven that remain, two, Bally’s and Caesar’s, have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The Taj opened in April 1990 and had financial problems almost immediately, according to an analysis by CNN of documents Trump filed with state gaming authorities.”
NOTORIOUS RBG. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg says Colin Kaepernick’s protest is legal but “dumb and disrespectful”: ““Would I arrest them for doing it? No. I think it’s dumb and disrespectful. I would have the same answer if you asked me about flag burning. I think it’s a terrible thing to do, but I wouldn’t lock a person up for doing it. I would point out how ridiculous it seems to me to do such an act.”
FTW. Muslim American professor has the most viral tweet of the second presidential debate: “The idea that Muslims have to report things is what prompted me to write the tweet,” Moustafa Bayoumi tells CBS News. “As if Muslims have some special knowledge of terrorism. I certainly don’t. I’m not a terrorist. I don’t know any terrorists. As if we somehow need to prove our legitimacy to stay in the country. I think those are the sorts of prevailing assumptions behind the statements Donald Trump is constantly making.”

BYE. Billy Bush’s Today Show colleagues reportedly don’t care that he’s suspended: “Ever since [Ryan] Lochte, a lot of people have thought that he was a liability anyway. Tamron [Hall] doesn’t like him and they have always been uncomfortable around each other. Al [Roker] doesn’t speak to him, like at all.
POLLS. Hillary Clinton opens up double digit lead in poll taken after Trump tapes leaked but before second presidential debate: “The poll, conducted on Saturday and Sunday but before the second presidential debate, shows Clinton with 46 percent support among likely voters in a four-way matchup, compared to 35 percent for Trump.”

PAUL RYAN. GOP Speaker of the House announces he will not defend for or campaign for Trump–but won’t un-endorse him. Trump fires back.
Paul Ryan should spend more time on balancing the budget, jobs and illegal immigration and not waste his time on fighting Republican nominee

HE’S RIGHT BEHIND YOU. Hillary was very much aware that the Donald was lurking all up in her personal space last night: “It was a very small space, and I tried to give him space; when he was talking to people, I would go back and lean up against my stool, but, he was very present.”
SHAKEN NOT STIRRED. Daniel Craig walks back talk that he would rather slash his wrist than play James Bond again.
TRUMP THE GOP. Republican Alabama Senator Jess Sessions doesn’t think grabbing women by the p—y counts as sexual assault: “I don’t characterize that as sexual assault. I think that’s a stretch.”

New Mockumentary from Christopher Guest, New Eps of ‘Real O’Neals’ And More TV This Week

Check out our weekly guide to TV this week, and make sure you’re catching the big premieres, crucial episodes and the stuff you won’t admit you watch when no one’s looking.
Filmmaker Sharon Shattuck shares her real-life Transparent story in From This Day Forward, tonight at 10 p.m. Eastern on PBS’s POV. The documentary chronicles her father’s transition from male to female, and the way it evolved relationships with her and her mother.
It’s time for the second season of The Real O’Neals, premiering Tuesday at 9:30 p.m. Eastern. The series, starring openly gay actor Noah Galvin and Martha Plimpton, is loosely inspired by executive producer Dan Savage’s own experience growing up gay in a Catholic family.
You could just drink a bottle of wine and hate-watch Roland Emmerich’s Stonewall, but it’s much more fun to leave the sloppy storytelling to professionals. This week’s episode of Drunk History gets a storyteller plastered and then reenacts their version of the Stonewall riots verbatim. Transparent stars Trace Lysette and Alexandra Grey make appearances on the episode, Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. Eastern on Comedy Central.
ABC’s Modern Family gets an extra dose of handsome with a guest appearance by Nathan Fillion, Wednesday at 9 p.m. Eastern.
The gang’s all here for a new Christopher Guest mockumentary, including Jane Lynch, Parker Posey, Jennifer Coolidge, Fred Willard and more. Mascots which is, yup, exactly what you think it is, drops on Netflix Thursday.
What are you watching this week on TV?

Logo to censor its own content to show what life is like for many LGBTQ people abroad

On October 11th, Logo will symbolically censor LGBTQ content during a marathon of RuPaul’s Drag Race to show support for LGBTQ people living in countries where such content is regularly blocked and coming out can be dangerous. Logo will also showcase facts about international LGBTQ equality throughout the day, which is also National Coming Out Day.
Candis Cayne, Gus Kentworthy, Trace Lysette, Jason Collins, Geena Rocero, Billy Porter, Omar Sharif Jr., JD Samson, Alec Mapa and Bruce Vilanch will all speak out about the 72 countries where being LGBTQ is criminalized and the 10 countries where same-sex relationships can be punishable by death. Activists from Russia, Iran, Singapore and more will appear in videos discussing how media censorship impacts their lives.
The ‘censored’ marathon of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 8 starts at 6am ET/PT. During the marathon, openly LGBTQ contestants and guests will have their eyes blocked by a black bar, drag outfits will be pixelated, and audio bleeps will disrupt LGBTQ content.
The ‘Day of Disruption’ is part of Logo’s Global Ally project, which is committed to raising awareness for global LGBTQ issues.
Viacom, Logo’s parent company, is an official partner of Spirit Day, GLAAD’s annual anti-bullying campaign. Logo’s Global Ally campaign sponsors Spirit Day’s international outreach, including making the Spirit Day Resource Kit available in seven languages.
Spirit Day is October 20th this year, and millions will go purple to take a stand against bullying and show support for LGBTQ youth. Take the pledge to go purple.

Black, Bisexual, And Invisible: A Cry For Acceptance And An End To Racism In The LGBTQ Community

“I have been out as bisexual for three years,” blogger Travonte Harris writes in a new op-ed published by The Current. “A downside to being bisexual is the fact that no girl will date me because I’m openly bisexual.”
“As if it wasn’t enough,” he adds, “now I have to deal with racism from my own people.”
Related: Michael Sam Sees More Racism In Gay Community Than Homophobia In Black Community
Harris says it all started shortly after he joined Grindr.
“Before I came out, I never had a problem with racism,” he says. “I could get black girls, white girls, some mixed girls. But in dealing with trying to go after my dream guy, I was met with opposition.”
He continues: “I saw a lot of posts on the dating apps like ‘Anyone but black,’ ‘No blacks allowed,’ and I had to stop myself and think, ‘Am I in the 60s or is this reality?’ … I questioned, ‘Am I unattractive? Am I not good enough for them?’”
He quickly learned that, no, he wasn’t living in the ’60s, this was reality, and that many guys didn’t want to date him simply because of the color of his skin.
Harris says he quickly grew frustrated by this, and eventually took to social media to voice his outrage.
“I started saying really offensive stuff on Facebook,” he says. “I was starting to hate the LGBT community and hate myself for being a part of it. I found myself being just as closed-minded as the people I hated.”

He continues: “But after much backlash from friends and family, I realized that hating them would solve nothing.”
Harris says he’s now focused on opening people’s minds to the racism that exists within the LGBTQ community.
“Recently I went into a gay club and there were a lot of people—mostly couples,” he writes. “The few single people who were there were out of my league. But I walked up to a guy, and his friend, a girl who said, ‘What do you want?’ in the rudest voice possible, like she was superior to me.”
“All I wanted was a dance,” he says.
“I have gay friends who are black and they only date black people because it has been an issue trying to date a white guy,” he continues. “I hope that this article helps people become more aware of their racism.”
He conludes: “This should not be a world where people kill themselves because they are lonely or because their own LGBT social group will not accept them. I hope that reading this article causes readers to consider how their actions might affect other people, whether intentional or not.”

Trump Doubles Down on Jailing Hillary: ‘Special Prosecutor Here We Come’ – WATCH
Donald Trump riled up a rally of his supporters in North Carolina on Monday, repeating his promise to investigate Hillary Clinton if he is elected president.

— POLITICO (@politico) October 10, 2016
Chants of “lock her up” have become commonplace at Trump rallies and were even present at the Republican National convention in Cleveland.
During the second presidential debate on Sunday, Trump vowed to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Clinton over her emails if he wins the election.
Speaking in North Carolina today, Trump said, “If I win, we’re gonna appoint a special prosecutor. Because we cannot allow this to happen in our country. We can’t. We’re like a third world nation.”
Trump wonders again: “I wonder if the NSA has her emails.” Says soon after: “Very, very sad. Special prosecutor, here we come, right?” pic.twitter.com/DRTbMZzaHj
— Sopan Deb (@SopanDeb) October 10, 2016
Ironically, it was Trump’s call to prosecute Clinton that led many, both Republicans and Democrats, to compare Trump’s actions to that of a so-called ‘third world’ dictator.
This isn’t the first time Trump has tried to ape the arguments of his harshest critics in attacks against Clinton. During the first presidential debate, Trump attempted to convince viewers that he has the better temperament of the two candidates. That assertion drew audible gasps from the assembled crowd at Hofstra University.

Donald Trump’s Unaired Commentary on ‘The Apprentice’ Was Often Recorded in Transcripts – REPORT

Donald Trump’s off-color unscripted remarks made during the taping of his reality TV show The Apprentice were often transcribed, according to a new report.
Previous reporting has suggested Trump was often recorded on camera making degrading remarks to women about their looks during the filming of The Apprentice. Trump was also reportedly recorded making a racial slur.
Now, sources familiar with The Apprentice have told The Huffington Post that the show hired a transcription service to transcribe its video footage prior to being edited.
According to HuffPo, many but not all of Trump’s unscripted remarks were documented in these transcripts:
It’s not clear how many transcripts exist. Sources say that some transcribers occasionally stuck to what they felt would end up in the program, while others took notes of what was said, regardless of whether it would air.
Those at “The Apprentice” have been intensely guarded about both the transcripts and the unaired footage. [Producer Mark] Burnett is reportedly a Trump supporter who has threatened to sue employees who leak material in violation of their nondisclosure agreements.
HuffPo says they have been able to obtain one such transcript, indicating that there are likely more in existence.
In that transcript, Trump relentlessly criticized a female country singer based on her appearance:
The episode, titled “Beauty and Brains,” aired in 2010. Contestants were tasked with making over a country music star before presenting them to three music industry insiders. They improved the star’s interviewing skills, produced promotional packets and helped them prepare for live radio shows and performances.
One team managed Emily West, a budding musician who later appeared on “America’s Got Talent.” The other managed Luke Bryan, a country singer and songwriter who has gone on to notable success.
During the boardroom session that decided which team did the better job transforming its artist, Trump turned the conversation sharply ― and at times, uncomfortably ― to West’s physical appearance, specifically her skin.
“I assume you’re gonna leave this off, don’t put this shit on the show, you know. But her skin, her skin sucks, okay?” he says, according to the transcript. “I mean her skin, she needs some serious fuckin’ dermatology.”
Cyndi Lauper, who headed the team that managed West, interjected to explain that they used “dry stuff” ― presumably, makeup ― and said Trump was objecting to something that was “not her skin.” But he remained unimpressed.
“F[–]k,” he proclaimed. “That’s Emily, that’s what I’m hearing about? Let me see the other one. I assume you’re not putting this on the show. ‘Cause I don’t wanna destroy the kid’s career.”
Said Trump of West’s competition, a then little-known country singer named Luke Bryan, “Personally, I am, as you probably heard, not a gay man, but I think he’s better looking that [sic] Emily okay?”
The episode in questions stems from the same year in which Trump told Howard Stern that he’s never had a gay thought in his life. He may have been referring to that interview while recording his show.
Lauper says the transcript is absolutely accurate:
“Yes, of course [he said that],” she told HuffPost. Lauper noted that the music industry often places a strong emphasis on physical appearance, but said Trump didn’t have standing to criticize. “Of all people to talk about people’s skin!” she said. “What the hell is going on with his?”
Lauper is not a fan of Trump. “That’s the way he is,” she said. “It is just very disappointing.”
“There [Hillary Clinton] is [during Sunday night’s debate], and he is walking behind her like he’s a thug. And he’s talking to her and her husband like that. And it’s like, who are you? How dare you?” she asked.
“He’s a reality star,” Lauper added, “and he has low-lifed our entire political system that is so 1800 gangs of New York.”
