Evangelical Leader Franklin Graham Blasts Marvel For Brainwashing Kids With Gay X-Men
Someone needs to explain to Franklin Graham, president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and spawn of Billy, what a metaphor is.
Franklin is claiming there’s a conspiracy afoot — Marvel Comics is trying to brainwash young people into accepting the “destructive” homosexual lifestyle by revealing that Iceman, AKA Bobby Drake, one of the original X-Men, is gay.
We hate to break it to you, Franklin, but the X-Men universe has been flamingly gay long before Iceman. A bunch of misunderstood societal outcasts fighting for a foothold of acceptance (and to save the world, naturally)? Does Franklin need it spelled out any clearer?
‘This is another attempt to indoctrinate our young people to accept this destructive lifestyle,” Graham posted on Facebook on Wednesday.
Perhaps he hasn’t seen the Bryan Singer-helmed films. The director himself hasn’t been shy to point out the X-Men gay connection. When asked if “X-Men and X-Men 2 represent your identities as a Jew living in America and as a gay man,” he responded:
“Well, yeah. That is also a very relevant analogy because where certain races, even a Jewish boy or a Jewish girl, will be born into a Jewish family, or a Jewish community sometimes, or an African American or whatever minority in any given area, a gay kid doesn’t discover he or she is gay until around puberty. And their parents aren’t gay necessarily, and their classmates aren’t, and they feel truly alone in the world and have to find, sometimes never find, a way to live. And what better way [to explore it] than in a giant, action, summer event movie!”
Still, we’re happy to see gay mutants in the X-Men universe. Here’s hoping the storyline makes its way into the film franchise.

Gay Teen’s Straight Friend Asks Him To Prom With Hella Cute ‘Promposal’
Despite the series of inappropriate prom proposals appearing in various news stories this prom season, a young gay teen received an adorable “Promposal,” from his straight best friend reports newnownext. Las Vegas high school student Anthony Martinez posted to Twitter that he wished a boy at his school would ask him to prom, stating that he didn’t care whether it was an official date or not but just a date to the school prom.

Martinez’s straight best friend, Jacob Lescenski considers Martinez as a brother to him and decided to ask him to prom after his other date declined. Lescenski asked close friends of his to help him assemble and create a giant poster for Martinez.
Said Lescenski:
“I decided on going to prom alone because my original date idea didn’t work out so well. Then one night I saw Anthony, who is my best friend, tweeting about wanting a date.
“So, I came up with the poster idea, asked my friend Mia to make it and asked him that next day. No one knew about it except for me, my friend Jamie and Mia who made the poster. It was a giant surprise to everyone, especially Anthony!”
Lescenski “Promposed” to Martinez on Wednesday at school shortly after lunch where Martinez was in the lunch room selling prom tickets. After selling tickets, Martinez ascended a pair of stairs on his way to class where he was met by Lescenski and the giant poster asking him to prom. Martinez happily accepted Lescenski’s cheeky “Promposal.”
Said Martinez:
“I saw this giant poster and assumed it was for another person—until I read ‘You’re hella gay.'”
The proposal has since spread like wildfire across social media, with many of the posts praising and expressing positivity toward the two. Martinez has already clarified on Tumblr that the date will include pictures, dinner and dancing; strictly platonic of course.

Writer-Performer Justin Sayre Skewers Russell Tovey's Remarks On 'Effeminate' Men
In his latest clip for HuffPost Gay Voices, writer-performer Justin Sayre takes “Looking” star Russell Tovey to task over the actor’s controversial remarks about “effeminate” gay men.
“You would be lucky to be effeminate in later life, because let me tell you, it gets you out of lots of jams,” Sayre quipped, referring to Tovey’s headline-making comments in a March 1 interview with The Guardian’s Tom Lamont.
In the interview, Tovey, who is openly gay, recalled his father’s refusal to send him to a “theater school” during his teen years, because attending would have made him “really effeminate” and therefore unable to play straight roles.
“If I’d have been able to relax, prance around, sing in the street, I might be a different person now,” Tovey said. “I thank my dad for that, for now allowing me to go down that path.”
Sayre’s “International Order of Sodomites” (I.O.S.) gathers once a month for “The Meeting,” honoring an artist or a cultural work that is iconic to the gay community.
The next installment of “The Meeting” hits San Francisco’s Oasis on April 25, with special guests Veronica Klaus, Connie Champagne and D’Arcy Drollinger.
In other news, “Sparkle & Circulate with Justin Sayre,” the official I.O.S. podcast, has just released its sixth episode, featuring an interview with “Queer as Folk” icon Randy Harrison.

In the past I was more often asked to support children’s charities! In some ways, change is best started with yourself. You and your friends not just being aware of what you believe in but standing up for it. If a situation arises that you don’t agree with – like someone making a joke at the expense of the LGBT community – you have to speak up for it: Hopefully remain friendly but don’t let the moment go by. When I was at school, that phrase ‘you’re so gay’ suggesting weakness was commonplace and kind of acceptable – but at uni it was happily not used. Maybe that kind of thing is the real positive education of going off to university! I don’t think people are born homophobic – at least, I hope not…Maybe familiarity has taken away the fear. That’s why it’s important to have positive role models in the public so that people can more easily gain confidence to freely express themselves. Actually, there is a phrase I’m not wholly comfortable with: ‘More tolerant’. Surely, it’s not about tolerating others as if they were a noisy neighbour, or that bloke on the tube with B.O? It’s about accepting that we’re all unique and that the world’s genuinely richer because of it. I’d also like to state that no-one should safely accept a Norman Bates as their motel manager!”

Mike Huckabee and Tony Perkins Worried Gay Marriage Will Rain Down ISIS Violence On Christians: LISTEN
Mike Huckabee (above) has claimed that the supposed threat same-sex marriage will create for religious freedom is part of a broader attack that will include violence against Christians, reports Right Wing Watch.
Speaking during a conference call organized by hate group the Family Research Council (FRC), Huckabee agreed with a pastor who suggested that the U.S. is facing the threat of ISIS terrorist attacks and the “equally intense assault on marriage as defined by God.”
Huckabee replied to the panic-stricken pastor:
“We’re seeing, certainly at the national level, internally this battle on marriage, but globally what we’re seeing is that there is an assault on the Christian faith in general.”
He continued that ISIS will soon “physically assault” American Christians.
Not to be outdone in the Game of Hate – I’m convinced it is in fact a game and Matt Baume’s recent exposé of FRC suggests the same – our old friend Tony Perkins (right) said that the fight for LGBT rights in the U.S. is linked to the murder of Christians by ISIS members in the Middle East.
“If we go silent on religious freedom here at home, I think that sends a message to the terrorists and the tyrants abroad that they are free to persecute our brothers and sisters in Christ. The other side is vocal and they sound like they are a lot more than they are but as a result they are winning battles that we should be winning.”
