Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.

1) This past week, the BAFTA awards, the Producer’s Guild, Director’s Guild, and the USC Scripter Awards have all announced their nominations for this year`s award season. Moonlight has received four BAFTA nominations, and was included in the Best Film category for all applicable shows. Other LGBTQ-inclusive BAFTA nominees include The Beatles: Eight Days a Week – The Touring Years, Deadpool, and Orange is The New Black.

2) An Act of Love, a documentary on Rev. Frank Schaefer`s LGBTQ activism following backlash for officiating his gay son`s wedding, has officially been released on digital HD and DVD. In other film news, out  producer Christine Vachon will produce a narrative feature adaptation of The Witness, the Oscar-shortlisted documentary about the murder of Kitty Genovese.

3) Freeform has given the greenlight for a fifth season of the family drama series The Fosters, bringing the series to the 100-episode mark. The Fosters, which has previously received the GLAAD Media Award in Outstanding Drama Series, follows wives Lena and Stef Adams Foster and their family of biological and adopted children. In the meantime, season four resumes on Tuesday, January 31, at 8 pm.

4) Showtime has picked up out actress and producer Lena Waithe’s hourlong drama The Chi, a timely coming-of-age story set in the south side of Chicago. In other TV news, The Good Wife`s spinoff series, The Good Fight, has officially released its first trailer. The pilot episode will air on CBS on Sunday, February 19, before moving to the subscription digital service CBS All Access.

5) Shea Diamond, a Black trans woman singer/songwriter, has released a live version of her powerful anthem to trans womanhood, entitled “I Am Her”. According to Diamond, the new version is “in honor of the forgotten founding mothers of the Stonewall movement, Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera.”

6) The National Theatre will produce the play Angels in America, and its recently announced cast will include Russell Tovey, Andrew Garfield, and Nathan Lane, to name a few. The production will begin previews on April 11, and it will be broadcast from the National Theatre to cinemas around the UK and internationally, with dates and venues to be announced.

7) Submissions for the 2017 Prism Comics Queer Press Grant are now open! Prism Comics is the largest non-profit dedicated to supporting and uplifting LGBTQ comics. Submissions for the grant close on March 1^st, 2017.

8) The Trans Women Writers Collective is currently crowdfunding for their upcoming publication, Nameless Woman: An Anthology of Fiction by Trans Women of Color. According to the collective, the publication is an opportunity for trans women of color to “create an innovative book of fiction that trans women can enjoy, and begin to create a place for trans women of color to thrive in publishing.” Find out more about their project in their Kickstarter page.
