Former Governor Matt Bevin Pardoned 9-Year-Old Girl’s Rapist Because ‘Hymen Was Intact’

Former Governor Matt Bevin Pardoned 9-Year-Old Girl’s Rapist Because ‘Hymen Was Intact’

Matt Bevin

Among the group of violent criminals pardoned by former Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin before he left office was a child rapist. Bevin told radio host Terry Meiners on Thursday that he pardoned 41-year-old Micah Schoettle for the rape of a 9-year-old girl because her hymen was intact.

Said Bevin: “There was zero evidence. Both their hymens were intact. This is perhaps more specific than people would want, but trust me. If you have been repeatedly sexually violated as a small child by an adult, there are going to be repercussions of that physically and medically.”

The Washington Post reports: “Already under fire for handing out pardons to relatives of his supporters, Bevin is now facing an onslaught of criticism from medical and forensic experts. Scientists have debunked the notion that inspecting an alleged victim’s hymen can prove whether they were sexually assaulted, and found that most survivors of child sexual abuse do not have any physical damage. George Nichols, an expert in evaluating child abuse who also served as Kentucky’s chief medical examiner for 20 years, told the Courier-Journal on Thursday that Bevin ‘clearly doesn’t know medicine and anatomy.’”

Putin Defends Trump After Impeachment by U.S. House

Putin Defends Trump After Impeachment by U.S. House

Russian President Vladimir Putin defended Donald Trump after the U.S. House of Representatives voted to impeach the U.S. president for just the third time in history, saying the allegations that Trump withheld U.S. military aid to extort Ukraine into investigating his politic rival “dreamt up.”

Said Putin: “I am not so sure his presidency is ending. This is an example of partisan infighting. The party who lost the election, [the Democrats], is using other methods to achieve their goals. They accused him of plotting with Russia, and when that turned out not to be true, they made up pressure on Ukraine. If you want to support Ukraine, give them money, but not at our expense.”

The Washington Post reports: “The House voted 230 to 197 to approve the article charging abuse of power, with the gavel falling about 8:30 p.m. On the obstruction of Congress vote, which followed soon after, the tally was 229 to 198. All Republicans voted against both articles. Among Democrats, two voted no on the first article and three on the second, with one — Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) — voting ‘present’ both times.”

SUCH ATROCIOUS LIES BY THE RADICAL LEFT, DO NOTHING DEMOCRATS. THIS IS AN ASSAULT ON AMERICA, AND AN ASSAULT ON THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!!!!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 18, 2019

The WaPo adds: “After Wednesday’s votes, Pelosi left open the possibility of delaying a procedural step that triggers a Senate trial, saying she might not name House impeachment managers and deliver the articles to the Senate unless Republicans there establish a “fair” process. In doing so, Pelosi was effectively attempting to gain leverage over the Senate’s process for weighing the charges against Trump.”

Construction Begins on US Navy Ship Named for Gay Rights Icon Harvey Milk: WATCH

Construction Begins on US Navy Ship Named for Gay Rights Icon Harvey Milk: WATCH

Construction has begun on a Navy ship named for gay civil rights icon Harvey Milk, the first openly gay man to be elected to political office in California. Milk served in the Navy during the Korean war and came from a family with a history of serving in the Navy. Milk and Mayor George Moscone were assassinated by former Supervisor Dan White at City Hall in 1978.

The Washington Post reports: “In a move that signaled an about-face on the issue of gay rights, the Navy on Friday began to construct the USNS Harvey Milk, a fleet oiler that will provide fuel to ships and aircraft. The Navy announced in 2016 that Milk’s name would appear on a ship, along with other civil rights leaders, including abolitionist Sojourner Truth and suffragist Lucy Stone.”

Buttigieg Plan Promises Free College Tuition for Americans Earning Under $100K

Buttigieg Plan Promises Free College Tuition for Americans Earning Under $100K

Presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg unveiled an economic plan on Friday that promises free tuition at four-year public colleges for Americans earning under $100,000.

We need an economy that delivers more. As president, I won’t just measure success by looking at the size of the stock market or GDP—I’ll look to you. Today, I’m announcing a plan to raise incomes, lower costs, and build a brighter future for all Americans. t.co/yEHC43el71

— Pete Buttigieg (@PeteButtigieg) November 8, 2019

The Washington Post reports: “The move is part of a package of new economic policies aimed at boosting the fortunes of middle- and working-class Americans and positioning Buttigieg as a clear alternative to more liberal candidates. While Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) have proposed making college free for everyone, Buttigieg is taking a more targeted approach of giving free tuition only to families he considers middle-class and lower. His new policy calls for reduced tuition at public universities for families earning $100,000 to $150,000 and no tuition for those below that threshold. … Buttigieg also proposes expanding Pell Grants to help low-income students pay for housing and fees and investing $50 billion in historically black colleges.”

Delta Air Lines Again Caught Removing Gay Content from In-Flight Films, This Time ‘Rocketman’ and ‘Booksmart’

Delta Air Lines Again Caught Removing Gay Content from In-Flight Films, This Time ‘Rocketman’ and ‘Booksmart’

Back in 2016, Delta Air Lines came under fire for screening a version of the Oscar-nominated film Carol for passengers in its in-flight entertainment program which deleted kisses between Rooney Mara and Cate Blanchett. Now, Delta has done it again with the recent Elton John biopic Rocketman and the Olivia Wilde-directed film Booksmart.

Entertainment Weekly’s digital director Shana Krochmal was one of the passengers who pointed out the Rocketman censorship. The film left in an assault between John Reid and Elton but removed all intimacy between them.

Wrote Krochmal: “On @Delta today discovered that #Rocketman is stripped of almost every gay reference or scene that @eltonofficial fought to keep in the film’s mainstream release, including a simple chaste kiss. This is good context but it’s still frustrating. As @yayponies pointed out in a very justified rant, what does it say that the edit left in a scene of John Reid assaulting Elton but removed any evidence of intimacy between them or for that matter Elton and any man? What is that saying is OK?”

And – sorry, almost done here – given how many passengers watch whatever they want on tablets or phones often in full view of other travelers, this seems especially egregious.

The Washington Post reports: “Near the end of the 2019 film ‘Booksmart,’ a tense bathroom kiss between Amy, the film’s timid, justice-minded lead, and Hope, her high school’s ‘basic hot girl,’ turns into more: Hidden from a house party outside, they engage in a hookup that’s been hailed as an unusually frank, on-screen portrayal of sex between two women. But Watch ‘Booksmart’ on a Delta Air Lines flight, and the R-rated high school comedy will skip right through that scene. Reportedly, the in-flight cut also passes over the words ‘vagina’ and ‘genitals,’ an exchange about a lesbian sex act, talk of a urinary tract infection, and a bit in which Amy and her friend watch porn in the back of a ride-share.’

Censoring the word lesbian is just batshit insane what is going on t.co/Rdq2wh68QO

Variety reports: “A spokesperson for Delta told Variety that the airline works with studios and a third-party editing company, which provides its own edit of the movie, as well as the unedited version. If anything in the unedited version of the movie does not meet Delta’s guidelines, then Delta runs the third party’s edit of the film, regardless of whether further aspects of the film that don’t violate Delta’s guidelines have also been removed. Delta declined to provide the airline’s standards and guidelines for in-flight movies, and the spokesperson said he was not aware what part of the unedited version of ‘Booksmart’ did not meet Delta’s guidelines.”

The company released a statement: “Delta’s content parameters do not in any way ask for the removal of homosexual content from the film. We value diversity and inclusion as core to our culture and our mission and will review our processes to ensure edited video content doesn’t conflict with these values.”

POLL. 58 percent support impeachment inquiry: “The Washington Post-Schar School poll released early Tuesday found that 58 percent say the House was correct to launch the inquiry, compared to 38 percent who disagreed. Almost half – 49 percent – said lawmakers in the lower chamber should impeach Trump and call for his removal from office.”

FULL HOUSE TO BIG HOUSE. Lori Loughlin should get “substantially higher” punishment than Felicity Huffman in college admission scam.

IMPEACHMENT RESOLUTION. Why Pelosi doesn’t want one: “In both the Nixon and Clinton impeachment inquiry resolutions, the minority party on the investigating committee was granted the power to subpoena — something the minority party does not normally have. Subpoenas were still subject to a vote of the committee, giving the majority party a way to block them. If similar language were included in a House impeachment inquiry resolution against President Trump — which is what Republicans are pushing for — it would theoretically enable GOP members to, say, subpoena testimony or information from former Vice President Joe Biden, or his son Hunter, or try to take the inquiry into an entirely different direction.”

IT TAKES TWO. The whistleblowers.

UNDISCLOSED SUM. Jerry Falwell Jr. settles “pool boy” lawsuit.

STIFFED. Trump Organization refusing to pay legal bill in Scottish lawsuit: ‘A Scottish court ruled in February this year the Trump Organization had to pay the Scottish government’s legal costs after his attempt to block an 11-turbine windfarm in Aberdeen Bay ended with defeat in the UK supreme court in 2015.’

RUSSIA. Top secret unit works to destabilize Europe: “The group, known as Unit 29155, has operated for at least a decade, yet Western officials only recently discovered it. Intelligence officials in four Western countries say it is unclear how often the unit is mobilized and warn that it is impossible to know when and where its operatives will strike.”

TAMPA. Ban on gay conversion therapy ruled unconstitutional by federal judge: ‘NBC affiliate WFLA-TV reports the judge struck down a 2017 ban imposed by the city of Tampa, ruling that the city has no authority to regulate health professionals and only the state government can do that – a victory for some religious based groups who support the therapy aimed at attempting to convert LGBTQ people toward heterosexuality.’

WISCONSIN. Racine man charged in anti-gay hate crime: “23-year-old Cedrick Green is charged with battery – great bodily harm, hate crime and two counts of bail jumping. According to a criminal complaint, police responded to an assault report and spoke with a victim who said he was attacked by three men at Riley Court and Irving Place in Racine. He said the men called him gay and taunted him for his sexual orientation. The complaint says the men hit him repeatedly before he was able to run to a gas station and get a ride home.”

THE VOICE. Nick Jonas is joining the show as a coach.

LIZZO. On being lovable: ““I take self-love very seriously. And I take it seriously because when I was younger, I wanted to change everything about myself. I didn’t love who I was. And the reason I didn’t love who I was is because I was told I wasn’t lovable by the media, by [people at] school, by not seeing myself in beauty ads, by not seeing myself in television…by lack of representation. My self-hatred got so bad that I was fantasizing about being other people. But you can’t live your life trying to be somebody else. What’s the point?” More

MUSIC VIDEO OF THE DAY. Meghan Trainor “Wave”.
