Imagine Dragons Wears GLAAD’s & Pin and Shouts Out LGBTQ Youth in Acceptance Speech for Favorite Pop/Rock Group at the American Music Awards

Congrats to Imagine Dragons who won Favorite Pop/Rock Duo or Group at tonight’s American Music Awards!

Imagine Dragons lead singer Dan Reynolds proudly sported a GLAAD & pin as part of GLAAD’s Together Movement, which calls for marginalized communities to stand united.

As he accepted the American Music Award, Reynolds had some powerful words for LGBTQ youth:

“This is the country that I know, which is one of powerful women. I’m talking about our women; talking about empowering our LGBTQ youth. May we continue to progress as a nation towards one of love, of equality, no divide. There’s been way too much of that this last year so to start the night like this just feels right.”

And ended his speech with:

“Peace, love, equality for all!”

The & pin made another appearance when Dan Reynolds and Imagine Dragons performed an explosive mashup of their hit Thunder with Khalid’s Young Dumb & Broke.

You can purchase your own & pin and join GLAAD’s Together Movement today.

LGBTQ visibility was high at this year’s American Music Awards. GLAAD previously announced that Demi Lovato would attend the AMAs with Danica Roem, who earlier this month was elected Virginia’s first transgender state legislator.

Earlier this year, Reynolds, an LGBTQ ally and Mormon, worked with GLAAD on LOVELOUD, a festival and concert held in Orem, Utah that brought together more than 17,000 fans and members of the LGBTQ and Mormon communities to stand up for LGBTQ youth. Reynolds spoke with OUT magazine before the concert and shared: “I just want to do everything I can do help our LGBTQ youth know they are not sinful. They’re perfect, wonderful and lovely the way they are, and if there is a God, that God loves them. For me, I’m just on this journey to raise awareness for my community and hopefully move out to raise awareness outside of Mormonism about how we can be better support LGBTQ youth.”
