GLAAD: Time to buckle down and keep fighting to protect health care for LGBTQ Americans

NEW YORK – Sarah Kate Ellis, President and CEO of GLAAD – the world’s LGBTQ media advocacy organization, released the following statement after the United States House of Representatives pulled a potential vote on the American Health Care Act, a bill that would have stripped away health insurance from many LGBTQ Americans.

“The U.S. House today did the right thing by pulling a vote on the American Health Care Act which would have stripped away health insurance from millions of Americans, including many in the LGBTQ community. Health care is a human right, and with access to HIV and STI testing and the affordability of checkups and life-saving medications on the line, it’s time to buckle down and keep fighting to protect the health care that the LGBTQ community deserves.”
