Fort Lauderdale’s ism bureau has won some awards for its successful ‘Love Is Love‘ gay marriage marketing .
The project won The Henry (gold) award in the Creativity in Public Relations category at the annual Flagler Awards, as well as an award in the Mixed Media Campaign and ‘Best in Show’.
The awards, established in the year 2000, are held annually in Florida in recognition of statewide excellence in ism promotion, as the Sun Sentinel reports.
The Love Is Love famously included the mass wedding of 100 couples in the gay-friendly city on 5 February, following the legalization of gay marriage in the state of Florida on 6 January; the official ambassador was *NSYNC’s Lance Bass.
‘While we can measure the success of the ‘Love is Love’ with numbers and awards, this initiative was about creating a memory, a lasting impression, and a genuine celebration of marriage equality,’ said president of the Greater Fort Lauderdale ism bureau Nicki E. Grossman.
‘To us, the success is measured in smiles, happy tears and hugs. And there were lots of those,’ she added.
