Tillie Walden’s Spinning, a new graphic memoir from First Second Books, hits bookshelves today. Spinning is a coming of age story that delves into Walden’s experiences growing up in the world of competitive figure skating, and how that is affected when she falls in love with art and with another woman. Through this memoir, Walden shares her story of growing up in Texas, finding herself, and exploring different facets of her passions and identity.

This is the first autobiographical long form work from Walden, but she has also published other books, including I Love this Part, a small town love story between two young women. She has won two Ignatz Awards, and been nominated for an Eisner Award. She also regularly posts comics and sketches on her website which can be found here.
