Don't miss these LGBTQ nominees, performers at the Grammys!

The 59th Annual Grammy Awards will air live on CBS this Sunday, February 12th at 5 PM PT/8 PM ET from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The nominees include several LGBTQ musicians, with others set to perform and present at the show.

In the category Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, out singer Halsey has managed to grab a nomination with The Chainsmokers for their song “Closer.” Sia, who was recently nominated for a GLAAD Media Award, has also been nominated in this category for her song “Cheap Thrills” with Sean Paul. In addition, Sia is nominated in Best Pop Vocal Album for her album This is Acting. Country star Brandy Clark (another GLAAD Media Award nominee) scored two nominations; one in Best Country Solo Performance for her song “Love Can Go to Hell” and one in Best Country Album for Big Day in a Small Town. A capella group Pentatonix, which includes out members Scott Hoying and Mitch Grassi, and Dolly Parton are nominated in Best Country Duo/Group Performance for their re-imagining of Parton’s song “Jolene.” Out comedians Margaret Cho (American Myth) and Tig Notaro (Boyish Girl Interrupted) are both nominated in Best Comedy Album.

The Best Musical Theater Album category includes nominations for LGBTQ-inclusive musicals The Color Purple and Kinky Boots. Beyoncé’s Lemonade and the Beatles’ The Beatles: Eight Days a Week received nominations in the Best Music Film category. Lemonade featured LGBTQ couples during the song “All Night,” and included an appearance by out actress Amandla Stenberg. The Beatles: Eight Days a Week features historical footage of the Beatles manager, Brian Epstein, who was gay.

Lady Gaga and Metallica have announced a duet performance at the Grammys, with Metallica claiming that the performance will be “very unique and special.” The Grammys also plan to give tribute to late iconic musicians George Michael and Prince.
