UFC Fighter Apologizes for Referring to Heavyweight Champ as a ‘Fag’ – VIDEO

UFC Fighter Donald Cerrone has apologized for using an anti-gay slur recently in describing the performance of heavyweight champ, Daniel Cormier.

Cerrone shared the apology on Instagram, but that apology post has since been deleted. He had linked to it on Twitter.

Earlier today, I said something that was offensive & I’m truly sorry. I’ve got so many friends… t.co/irC0XThw4V

— Cowboy Cerrone (@Cowboycerrone) July 10, 2016

The Washington Post reports:

The topic of “worst fight” at the event, which lost some of its luster with Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor out and with Jon Jones a late scratch because of a failed drug test, came up and Cerrone didn’t hold back as the conversation turned to the fight between Daniel Cormier and Anderson Silva — a late substitute for Jones. Cormier won with a wrestling-centric game plan that Cerrone found objectionable.

“Your boy, DC. Terrible!” Cerrone said to CM Punk. Punk asked for specifics and Cerrone replied: “Terrible. How are you going to give up weight and then fight like a [anti-gay slur], man?”

As MMA Junkie notes, Cerrone’s apology on Instagram included a picture of him in a UFC rainbow-colored shirt that promotes the organization’s LGBTQ initiative, “We are all fighters.”

I can vouch for @Cowboycerrone he’s definitely not a basher of any types of people. He just has the potty mouth @ufc pic.twitter.com/VA9YwKxW0Z

— Derek Brunson (@DerekBrunson) July 10, 2016

Here’s what Cerrone said in his now-deleted post:

“Earlier today, I said something that was offensive & I’m truly sorry. I’ve got so many friends and fans in the LGBTQ community who I let down today. I can and will be better because I respect the community and equality matters! #WeAreAllFighters

A senior UFC official was reportedly “incredibly disappointed” by Cerrone’s words and spoke with him before he made his official apology.

John Barrowman Cancels Comi-con Panel After Receiving Personal Threat

John Barrowman Cancels Comi-con Panel After Receiving Personal Threat

John-Barrowman

One of the world’s most precious natural resources is in danger: John Barrowman, the lovely hero of Torchwood and Arrow and Shark Attack 3 and Central Park West. You may also know him from the video in which his husband accidentally showed his dick.

Related: John Barrowman Accidentally Films Skinny-Dipping Husband On Facebook Live

John was supposed to appear at Montreal Comic-Con, but had to cancel at the last minute due to threats. Yes, it’s very odd: threats, in Canada, the nicest country on Earth? It’s unfathomable. Here’s John’s statement:

“This morning an email was sent that directly referenced me and In light of recent events, I’ve decided to take the advice of my management and family as they were concerned for my safety. We are working with the convention to arrange for security that not only keeps me safe but also all of you who come to see me. I’m really sorry I have had to cancel my panel and photo ops this weekend. I will be signing later today once security has been arranged. Please check with the promoter and social media for updates on where and when I will be signing.”

So weird, right? Why would anyone want to commit violence in this of all ways? What a huge bummer. But the good news is that we’ll still be seeing more of him, since he just announced that he’ll be appearing on two more DC-related shows: The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. Neat.

It’s a real shame that John had to cancel the appearance, because he’s an absolute delight in person. Here’s our favorite of his appearances, in which he invites cosplayer extraordinaire Justin Saint up on stage to sing a song from Les Miz. Awesome.

English actor Alex Pettyfer is no stranger to getting in shape for a role.

The Magic Mike actor won over more than a few fans (including us) in the 2012 surprise hit.

But the thing abut getting in ridiculously good shape is it’s pretty damn easy to fall out of. A few months of lazy weekends snacking in front of the tv and you’re well on your way to turning a six-pack into a doughy cake batter.

Well Alex is back on the horse, thanks to a mystery role he’s been training for.

He took to Instagram, the chosen forum for showing off body parts, to share the news:

I know I know I’m being an idiot, but 6 weeks ago I was eating #inandout and drinking #soda, now getting fighting fit for new movie ? #itsasecret #soontoberevealed

I don’t think it gets more gay than a Machoke posing in front of a gay bar on a rainbow crosswalk. #PokemonGO pic.twitter.com/BFpMqujobA

As the Pokemon Go craze heats up, it’s causing a stir at gay bars across the country. Customers are reportedly checking their Pokemon Go apps as often as Grindr. And they’ve posted some amusing captures as a result.

And some of the catches reported to social media feel entirely appropriate: Jynx, Machoke, Machop, and Nidoqueen have all been picked up at the gay watering holes.

WHY DID A JYNX APPEAR AS I UBERED PAST THE GAY BAR??? ARE YOU PROFILING???
POKÉMON GO DO YOU HAVE A COMMENT??????

— Basic Bruce (@thebryceisryght) July 9, 2016

Overheard at the gay bar, “So it’s like Grindr but you catch Pokemon instead of STIs.” He knows what’s up. #PokemonGO

Matthew Dempsey and Broderick Hunter Find Out If ‘Masculinity’ Makes a Man More Attractive – WATCH

Matthew Dempsey and Broderick Hunter Find Out If ‘Masculinity’ Makes a Man More Attractive – WATCH

masculine attractive

Psychotherapist Matthew Dempsey teamed up with model Broderick Hunter to conduct a little test to see what both men and women found more attractive–men who were more ‘traditionally masculine’ or those that were less so.

Dempsey says the purpose of the experiment was to put “perceived masculinity to the test.” As part of the experiment, Hunter acts out two versions of multiple scenarios, one in which he exhibits more ‘traditionally masculine’ traits and one in which he “shows off a different side of himself.”

Dempsey then has a group of guys and girls watch the scenarios play out and weigh in on what they find more attractive.

National transgender equality ad to air during Republican National Convention

National transgender equality ad to air during Republican National Convention

GLAAD is proud to support a groundbreaking nationwide television ad depicting the challenges faced by transgender people in accessing public restrooms that will have its national television debut on FOX News Channel during the Republican National Convention.

As part of this new campaign to educate the public about the discrimination faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) Americans across the country, the ad features a transgender woman from North Carolina, where HB2 passed earlier this year. HB2 makes it illegal for transgender people to use restrooms in public buildings that match the gender they live every day, making them susceptible to even higher levels of harassment and violence.

Read more about the campaign and the ad in today’s New York Times.

The ad will air nationwide during the final night of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland on Thursday, July 21 shortly before the presumptive nominee, Donald Trump, accepts the Republican nomination for President of the United States. The ad will air nationwide again on MSNBC during the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia one week later.

The video was released online today with a package of educational resources and materials at FairnessUSA.org. Between July 11 and its national network debut on July 21, we encourage individuals, organizations, and community allies to share links to the video and use hashtag #FairnessUSA.

Discriminatory laws, like HB2 in North Carolina, legislate that people may only use restrooms that correspond to the sex on their birth certificates rather than their lived gender. Described as “the most extreme anti-LGBT measure in the country” by the national headquarters of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), HB2 is just one of many pieces of discriminatory legislation being introduced across the country. In 2016, lawmakers across 34 states have pushed more than 200 bills which would deny LGBT citizens equal protections under the law.

Transgender Americans are the targets of many of these bills, which prohibit transgender adults, and often students, from using public facilities — like bathrooms — consistent with their gender. Just last Friday, ten states sued the federal government over a guideline that would allow transgender students to use the bathroom that matches the gender they live every day.

According to new survey data released by the National Center for Transgender Equality:

– Fifty-nine percent (59%) of transgender people have avoided public restrooms in the last year because they were afraid of problems like being confronted by others.

– A shocking one in ten (12%) transgender people report they have been harassed, attacked, or sexually assaulted in a restroom in the last year, and one third of transgender people have avoided drinking or eating so that they did not need to use the restroom.

– Eight percent have had medical problems like urinary or kidney infections from avoiding the restroom.

Multiple studies show that transgender people face heightened levels of discrimination that lead to disproportionately high rates of poverty, unemployment, homelessness, inadequate medical care, incarceration, and violence. GLAAD has created a reference guide for journalists to ensure that they can report on these policy issues. Additional resources for writing about the experiences of transgender Americans fairly and accurately may be found on our website.

The ad is funded by Fairness USA, a partnership led by the Freedom for All Americans Education Fund, the National Center for Transgender Equality, the Movement Advancement Project, and Equality Ohio, with support from the Equality Federation and the National Center for Lesbian Rights
