Republican Lawmaker Finally Talks About Sexting With Catholic School Boy, Insists He’s Not Gay

“I shouldn’t have done it,” Republican Mike Yenni tells his local Fox 8 news station, “being a married man, being a father, and being an elected official.”

He is, of course, referring to the sext scandal involving himself and a Catholic school boy that made international headlines earlier this year.

40-year-old Yenni is the President of Jefferson Parish in Louisiana. Back in September, he was outed for sending some pretty racy text messages to a 17-year-old high school senior who he may or may not have meet at a school graduation function.

In the interview, Yenni starts by calling the sexting incident “a mistake” and “one of the stupidest decisions that I’ve ever made” but insists that it doesn’t define him.

“Everybody thinks, oh, something sexual happened. But there was no sex, ” Yenni says. “That’s the clearest thing that I can possibly bring up, is that there was no sex. This is about inappropriate texting.”

Yenni goes on to say that the sexting, er, “inappropriate texting” only lasted for a short while, “probably less than two weeks,” before once again adding, “There was no sex.”

When asked about allegations that he supplied the teenager with sexy underwear, Yenni sidesteps the question by saying: “There are fictional elements to that story. … I’m not going to get into the line-by-line, I’m not going to debate it.”

(Our translation: Yes, he bought the boy sexy underwear.)

One thing Yenni is absolutely, 100 percent denying is that he met the teen at a high school function.

“I never saw him at any high school function, never spoke to him at a high school function, I don’t know where that came from,” he said. “All these innuendos that I’m banned from Jesuit High School–my wife and I were just there a couple of weeks ago at an event.”

He also denies being gay.

“There was no sexual contact,” he says. “To simply say, I’m not gay.”

What Does It Take To Shock John Waters?

What Does It Take To Shock John Waters?

There are easier things in the world than shocking the man who introduced coprophilia to the mainstream, but it’s not impossible. John Waters recently popped into The Late Show to shill his upcoming Christmas spectacular and share some of the most dangerous, baby-bruising toys of all time.

In one particularly entertaining section, Colbert asks Waters what shocks him, and his answer may surprise you. Hint: It’s roughly the color of days-old Kraft Macaroni and Cheese, and will soon be the leader of the free world.

Seth Meyers: We’re a Month Away From Trump Growing a Saddam Hussein Mustache – WATCH

Seth Meyers dug into how Donald Trump’s businesses will prove problematic and possibly impeachable now that he’s been elected president.

Meyers looked at the clause of the constitution that could provide trouble for Trump and also how he’s already begun receiving extravagant gifts from foreign leaders—such a golden golf club worth thousands of dollars. As Meyers quipped, “We’re probably a month away from trump growing out a Saddam Hussein mustache.”

Meyers also talked about Ivanka Trump’s role in the transition (“I’m starting to think we might end up with a woman president after all”) and Trump’s response to media stories about his potential conflicts of interest (“Yeah the crooked media has some sort of crooked hard on for the crooked constitution”).

“San Antonio Four” today exonerated by Texas court of appeals

“San Antonio Four” today exonerated by Texas court of appeals

The “San Antonio Four,” four Latina lesbians who were wrongfully convicted in 1994 of aggravated sexual assault and indecency, were today cleared on all charges by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. The women’s story is documented in Southwest of Salem: The Story of the San Antonio Four, which premiered in theaters and on Investigation Discovery earlier this year. The documentary includes poignant scenes showing the impact of the amount of time the women have served and how that has affected them and their families. You can watch the full documentary now on Investigation Discovery’s website.

“Those defendants have won the right to proclaim to the citizens of Texas that theydid not commit a crime. That they are innocent. That they deserve to be exonerated. These women have carried that burden. They are innocent. And they are exonerated. This Court grants them the relief they seek,” the court’s decision read. Read the full ruling here. In 2012 and 2013, after one of the accusers recanted and the forensic evidence used during the trial was debunked, the four women were released from prison but were still denied freedom.

Southwest of Salem premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in April, and went on to win Outstanding Documentary Jury Awards at Frameline and Outfest. GLAAD has worked with the four women (Elizabeth Ramirez, Anna Vasquez, Kristie Mayhugh, and Cassandra Rivera) and the team behind the documentary over the past several months, including hosting a Q&A session and screening of Southwest of Salem as well as amplifying their story through a dedicated live chat on social media.

Joe Jonas Is Cool With You Thinking He’s Gay

Joe Jonas Is Cool With You Thinking He’s Gay

I don’t know the real answer to it. I don’t have an issue with it. I think it’s a compliment. I have a lot of gay fans. It’s not like it bothers me. Some people handle it differently, but at the end of the day, I’m cool with it and think it’s kind of funny. You have to learn to laugh; people are gonna create a story out of anything.

You know, it’s probably because I’m in touch with my feminine side. Look, I love fashion; I love to dress well. I love certain things like that. And I have a lot of gay friends, as well, so that could probably point them in that direction. But again, the gay community is something that is close to my heart, so I don’t mind. Hey, if they wanna think I’m gay, it’s fun.”— Joe Jonas, when asked by Pride Source why people think he’s gay.

matthew dempsey

Psychotherapist Matthew Dempsey got a group of friends together to have an honest conversation about white gay men and racism.

Dempsey invited Wilson Cruz, Alec Mapa, Justin Sylvester, and Sachin Bhatt to a dinner party to speak out about how gay people of color perceive racism in the LGBT community.

Dempsey and the crew discuss whether racial dating preferences are racist, the lack of representation of people of color in LGBT media (e.g. #GayMediaSoWhite), how gay white racism manifests itself, how to channel white privilege into a force for good, and what gay white men can do to positively affect change within the community–even right down to simple everyday things.

As Cruz says towards the end of the dinner party, “We are surrounded by white media and white culture. Maybe perhaps white people should expand their reach a bit…and perhaps it will give them a sense of who we are.”
