HRC CONDEMNS U.S. SUPREME COURT’S DECISION TO ALLOW DISCRIMINATORY TRANS MILITARY SERVICE BAN TO TAKE EFFECT: More from HRC.

1/ Allowing Donald Trump & Mike Pence’s transgender troop ban to go into effect harms both transgender service members & our national security.

HRC COMMEMORATES THE LIFE OF CIVIL RIGHTS HERO DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.: HRC members and supporters nationwide gave back to their communities over the weekend by volunteering for a range of service projects and amplifying the work local organizations and leaders are doing for the most marginalized groups of the LGBTQ community. Efforts included organizing clothing and toiletries donation drives; assembling and distributing care packages of travel-size hygiene items, school supplies and winter accessories; and participating in beautification and small renovation projects. More from HRC.

“What are you doing for others” was a question heard all day

HRC AND EQUALITY VIRGINIA COMMEND STATE SENATE FOR PASSING NON-DISCRIMINATION PROTECTIONS: “These are basic non-discrimination protections that LGBTQ Virginians need and deserve, and that will make the commonwealth a more welcoming and inclusive place for all Virginians,” said Marty Rouse, HRC National Field Director. “It’s essential for the future of Virginia that pro-equality legislators in the House act on these non-discrimination bills and ensure that these long-overdue protections are passed.” More from HRC.

TUESDAY TWEET — MUST-READ FROM TRANS TEAM USA DUATHLETE ON DISCRIMINATORY SOUTH DAKOTA BILL: Chris Mosier writes, “Lawmakers proposing these bills generally have very little understanding of who trans people are and what it means for us to compete in sports.” South Dakota’s SB49 would void the state’s policy allowing transgender athletes to participate in athletic activities consistent with their gender identity. More from Out Magazine.

  • South Dakota must choose facts over fear: More from Argus Leader.

Let me be clear: this is not just about letting a trans kid play – this is the gateway bill that makes it easier to discriminate against all of us down the road. @aclu @aclusouthdakota t.co/cO8O8aBhvk
