CHALLENGE TO TRUMP-PENCE TRANS MILITARY BAN MOVES FORWARD: A federal court in Seattle in a decision issued Friday rejected the Trump-Pence Administration’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit challenging the ban brought by Lambda Legal and OutServe-SLDN on behalf of nine individual plaintiffs and three organizational plaintiffs, including HRC. “The upcoming trial will only serve to further demonstrate that this impulsively tweeted ban is fueled by nothing more than the president’s personal prejudices,” said HRC National Press Secretary Sarah McBride (@SarahEMcBride). “Transgender people are serving with distinction and enlisting with bravery this very moment and there continues to be no legitimate rationale to change that.” Read more at HRC.

DOJ DECISION TO EXCLUDE SURVEY QUESTIONS ON LGBTQ IDENTITY PUTS YOUTH AT RISK: The Department of Justice is considering removing questions about sexual orientation and gender identity in the National Crime Victimization Survey. HORRIBLE — FORMER US AMBASSADOR TO VIETNAM RESIGNED BECAUSE TRUMP PRESSURED HIM TO DEMAND THE COUNTRY REPATRIATE 8,000 WAR REFUGEES: “The majority targeted for deportation — sometimes for minor infractions — were war refugees who had sided with the United States, whose loyalty was to the flag of a nation that no longer exists,” former Ambassador Ted Osius wrote in the Foreign Service Journal.
