Just the Two of Us! 🌛
On warm weekend evenings in Palm Springs, Rodney & Carlos had a tradition all their own.
Beyond the glass doors, the expansive lawn had been transformed into their private outdoor discotheque.
Fairy lights twinkled among the palms while discreet strobe lights swept upward toward the sky.
There there were never any guests. They didn’t need them.
Tonight, a playlist of disco classics, pulsing techno & irresistible pop filled the warm desert air.
Rodney stepped onto the lawn wearing his favorite silver mirrored Speedos, the outfit that always made him feel especially glamorous & ready for a night of dancing.
Carlos, taking a more relaxed approach, wore his black-&-blue striped hipster trunks.
“Ready?” Carlos called, grinning.
Rodney struck a playful pose beneath the lights. “I was born ready.”
The music began to build.
Soon they were dancing together beneath the palms, laughing whenever one of them attempted an outrageous dance move.
The silver of Rodney’s Speedos caught every flash of the lights, while Carlos moved effortlessly to the rhythm, occasionally spinning around just to make Rodney laugh.
They danced through one song after another, sometimes together, sometimes separately, occasionally stopping for a cold drink before plunging back into the music.
As midnight approached, the strobe lights continued their slow sweep across the sky.
The final song was played.
Rodney & Carlos stood side by side on the lawn, catching their breath & looking around at their glowing little paradise.
“Same time next weekend?” Carlos asked.
Rodney smiled.
“Absolutely”.
The music faded, but neither of them hurried inside.
For a few more moments they simply stood beneath the full moon, surrounded by the warm Palm Springs air, the sparkling lights & the quiet desert night.
Their private soirée was over.
