Marco RubioGOP CONVENTION. Marco Rubio will stay home. “Rubio joins a list of prominent Republicans — among them Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney, John McCain and Kelly Ayotte — skipping the convention because of Donald Trump. But Rubio’s campaign — comfortably ahead in GOP primary pollls — said Trump isn’t the reason. ‘Florida has always been a competitive state and it will be this fall. Marco had planned to go to the convention before he decided to seek re-election. Since Marco got into the race late, he will be in Florida campaigning and meeting with voters instead of going to Ohio,’ spokeswoman Olivia Perez-Cubas said.”

NUMBERS. A billion people on earth now have marriage equality.

Paul RyanHILLARY CLINTON. House Speaker Paul Ryan asks that she be denied classified information during campaign. “Ryan, the top Republican in the House of Representatives, sent a letter to Director of National Intelligence James Clapper saying denying Clinton access to classified information would be an appropriate sanction for her mishandling of classified data while she was secretary of state.”

SCIENCE. The loudest sound in the world would kill you on the spot: “Even with that protection, extremely loud infrasounds can still have an impact on our bodies. Humans exposed to infrasounds above 110 decibelsexperience changes in their blood pressure and respiratory rates. They get dizzy and have trouble maintaining their balance. In 1965, an Air Force experiment found that humans exposed to infrasound in the range of 151-153 decibels for 90 seconds began to feel their chests moving without their control. At a high enough decibel, the atmospheric pressure changes of infrasound can inflate and deflate lungs, effectively serving as a means of artificial respiration.”

TivicayPHARMA. Drugs that saved HIV patients extra-toxic in old age: “HIV medications are typically toxic not only for the virus, but also for the people who take them. That poses a new challenge for drugmakers: Making medications that subdue the illness without wreaking havoc on aging bodies, and minimizing the risk of harmful drug interactions for people who might have to take their HIV medications alongside pills for blood pressure, cholesterol or diabetes.”

DICK PICS. Ryan Reynold has a few thoughts.

If people are gross enough to send dick pics, at least have the courage to use a face-swapping app.

Sarah SilvermanSARAH SILVERMAN. Comic says she almost died: “I was in the ICU all of last week and I am insanely lucky to be alive. Don’t even know why I went to the doctor, it was just a sore throat. But I had a freak case of epiglottitis.  I owe my life to Dr. Shawn Nasseri, Dr. Robert Naruse, Dr. Rob Huizenga, every nurse, and every technician & orderly at Cedars who’s punch-the-clock jobs happen to save human lives on the regular.”

NARCOS. Pablo Escobar’s brother wants cut of Netflix drama’s profits: “Roberto Escobar, brother of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, reportedly has asked the Los Gatos-based streaming service for an advance copy of Season 2 of Narcos. “

BLOOD IN THE WATER. Introducing shark tea bags. “While the shark-shaped tea bags are indeed cute and the rosehip and hibiscus combo sounds flavourful, it’s when you soak the tea bag in hot water that things get gory.”

First Trailer for Nick Jonas, James Franco Fraternity Movie ‘Goat’ Is Here: WATCH

First Trailer for Nick Jonas, James Franco Fraternity Movie ‘Goat’ Is Here: WATCH

franco

The first trailer for Goat, the Nick Jonas and James Franco-starring film about the wild world of fraternities and the hazing they have become infamous for, has just been released.

An official synopsis on the film here, via The Playlist

Reeling from a terrifying assault over the summer, 19-year-old Brad Land (Ben Schnetzer) starts college determined to get his life back to normal. His brother, Brett (Nick Jonas), is already established on campus and with a fraternity that allures Brad with its promise of protection, popularity, and life-long friendships. Brad is desperate to belong but as he sets out to join the fraternity his brother exhibits reservations, a sentiment that threatens to divide them. As the pledging ritual moves into hell week, a rite that promises to usher these unproven boys into manhood, the stakes violently increase with a series of torturous and humiliating events.  What occurs in the name of ‘brotherhood’ tests both boys and their relationship in brutal ways.

If the trailer is any indicator, Goat will provide a no-holds barred look at the dark side of frat life and the homoerotic bonding that underlies many fraternity traditions.

Yoko Ono’s ‘Catman’ Video, Directed by Rose McGowan, is Ono in Purrfect Form: WATCH

Yoko Ono’s ‘Catman’ Video, Directed by Rose McGowan, is Ono in Purrfect Form: WATCH

ono3

Back In February Yoko Ono released a follow-up to Yes, I’m a Witch, a 2007 album of remixes of her back catalog.

Entitled Yes, I’m a Witch Too, the album features another batch of remixes, reconstructions and reinterpretations of the 83-year-old artist’s old songs by the likes of electro superstar Dave Audé, EDM visionaire Moby and house music legend Danny Tenaglia.

Wednesday, Yoko Ono released a video off the new album for her new take on “Catman (The Rosies Are Coming)”, a song she’d originally written and recorded for the 1973 double album Approximately Infinite Universe, her third solo album.

onoFor the 2016 version, she collaborated with Swedish indie pop band Miike Snow, dropped “The Rosies Are Coming” from its title and the result is a trippy synthpop tune that makes you picture a dance floor full of Hello Kitties on acid dancing until 9am. Or, as Noisey described it, it “basically sounds like Harajuku-and-Atari-enamored aliens have abducted the master tapes and gone to town.”

The video for “Catman”, released today, was directed by Charmed actress Rose McGowan and is just as trippy. It features a woman wearing a cat mask walking into a room where older women are sitting motionless at school desks, looking either bored or gloomy.

Catgirl walks in dancing, spreads her cat magic around the ladies and, just like cat magic, a happy group dance follows.

“Yoko Ono has been an ardent supporter of women and modern dance for years,” McGowan said in a statement. “Casting women dancers over 60, including one with cancer, was my way of showing that vitality doesn’t die with age. I used color overlays to create my own visual beat.” The Ono-world, she said, is “an important one.”

Rolling Stone writes that the video “represents solidarity among women of all ages and the joys of movement.”

Teen Comes Out To Mom On Disneyland’s “Splash Mountain,” Solely To Make You Ugly-Cry

Teen Comes Out To Mom On Disneyland’s “Splash Mountain,” Solely To Make You Ugly-Cry

Screen Shot 2016-07-06 at 2.46.41 PM

When coming out these days, ticker tape and Donna Summer anthems just don’t cut it anymore.

Gina, a 16-year-old girl from California, clearly knows this.

Struggling with how to impart the big news to her mom, she decided the best place to do it was “The Happiest Place on Earth.”

And during the big drop on Splash Mountain, no less. Exhibit A:

@ayydubs this is how I came out yesterday lolol pic.twitter.com/UqStjeZRyF

— gina (@ginaslife3) June 20, 2016

While we’re slightly preoccupied with the girl in the blue tank-top, and wondering what bleakness weighs so heavily on her mind, we still have the wherewithal to finish this damn post and point out the colorful “I’m Gay!” sign in Gina’s hand, a detail that was probably of keen interest to her mom.

Touching stuff, yes. And yet, the Twitterverse apparently has bigger questions in mind:

@thatspicegirl I WAS WONDERING THE SAME THING LIKE YALL ARE IN THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH GET WITH IT

— gina (@ginaslife3) June 20, 2016

Seriously, ladies. Lighten. The fuck. Up.
