Tony Yazbeck, Lillias White And Perez Hilton Join Scott Nevins For 'Sparkle: An All-Star Holiday Concert' In New York
In what’s become a yuletide tradition, “People’s Couch” hunk Scott Nevins rang in the holidays Dec. 7 amidst of bevy of stage and screen talents at New York nightspot 42West.

Broadway performers Tony Yazbeck, Bobby Steggert and Anthony Rapp were among the many stars to take the stage for a spirited set of carols at “Sparkle: An All-Star Holiday Concert,” which also featured Erich Bergen of the “Jersey Boys” film and celebrity blogger and entrepreneur Perez Hilton.

Yazbeck, who is currently starring in “On The Town,” had the distinction of crooning “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” which was introduced by Judy Garland in 1944’s “Meet Me In St. Louis” and is a longtime favorite of Nevins.’ Meanwhile, singer Kelly King brought the crowd to its feet with flawless renditions of “Oh Holy Night” and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”

I’m such a holiday fanatic and I love all of the buildup to Christmas,” Nevins, who was born and raised in Queens, told The Huffington Post earlier this month. The show itself, he added, is his way of “getting together with loved ones and friends for a great holiday celebration. I want this to feel home-spun and like a real love fest between friends, performers and fans.”

The West Coast installment of “Sparkle: An All-Star Holiday Concert” plays Los Angeles’ Rockwell: Table & Stage on Thursday, Dec. 11 and will feature performances by Steve Kazee, Laura Bell Bundy and Eli Lieb, among others. Head here for more information.

Proceeds from both the New York and Los Angeles performances will benefit The Actors Fund.

Naomi Pilgrim: “It’s All Good”

Naomi Pilgrim is one of the biggest breakout European electro pop artists of 2014.

Born in Barbados and raised in Sweden, she’s dropped a few singles and EPs this year including debut gem and one of our favourite songs of the year “No Gun.”

Going for the 80s europop revival via more restrained R&B, Naomi’s last video for “It’s All Good” sees her “waking up alone in the desert with a retro DeLorean conveniently parked nearby. She proceeds to burn down a desert road, passing by a series of men digging ditches and hapless skateboarders.”

As you do.

Son Joan: “Sucker Punch”

Son Joan is a one-man act from Hampshire in the UK.

A label-mate of Hannah Lou Clark who we covered last week, Hannah collaborated with Son Joan on “Sucker Punch,” which is down and dirty old-school indie rock for fans of Simple Kid, Jamie T, early Primal Scream and The Rolling Stones.

“Sucker Punch” is taken from Son Joan‘s debut EP Menagerie Melodies which is set to be released soon.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson Performs 'Shake It Off' At TrevorLIVE LA (VIDEO)
Awwww, Jesse!

The “Modern Family” star took to the stage last weekend at The Trevor Project’s TrevorLIVE Los Angeles event to perform one of the hits off Taylor Swift’s new album, “1989.” Ferguson was even joined by a slew of back-up dancers to support his antics.

Not only that, but the performance seemed to have earned the stamp of approval from Swift herself after it went viral on the Internet.

Sam Smith Just Made The World's Saddest Christmas Song Even Sadder

Sam Smith Just Made The World's Saddest Christmas Song Even Sadder
Sam Smith, newly minted six-time Grammy nominee, released a sweet, sad cover of the classic Christmas carol, “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.” Bare bones and backed by a single piano, Smith sings with no frills and all the feels. It’s dusty in this post.

Here’s How To Meet The Hot Daddy Of Your Dreams

Here’s How To Meet The Hot Daddy Of Your Dreams

Screen shot 2014-12-09 at 9.54.32 AMAt long last, the thing been we’ve been waiting for has finally–finally!–arrived.

Daddyhunt is a brand new app geared specifically towards daddies and their admirers.

In a press release, CEO Carl Sandler says he views Daddyhunt “as part of larger trend in gay culture celebrating age, experience and knowledge.”

Emphases on the word experience. The app’s tag lines is “Experience Matters”, and we couldn’t agree more. That’s part of why we admire older guys so much: They know how to treat a man.

“When gay dating apps began replacing bars as the main point of interaction, our community lost some important things–social interaction, casual conversation, the ability to flirt over common interests,” Sandler, who recently turned forty, notes. “I realized that many people yearn for something more than a string of ‘hey’ pings from thumbnail torsos. The Daddyhunt app is a way to bring a sense of shared experience back to gay culture.”

Like other dating apps, Daddyhunt offers geolocation, profiles, and chat, but also features “a photo feed with full social media capabilities, allowing members to share their latest photos with a larger Daddyhunt community, gain followers, like photos, and to interact in ways go beyond the headless selfie.”

In other words: It’s a whole world of online daddies. What could be better?

“Men like Tom Ford, Dustin Lance Black, Jared Leto and Murray Bartlett (Dom on HBO’s Looking), have helped the gay community rethink what it means to get older,” Sandler says. “I wanted to create an app that would not only connect gay men, but challenge outdated notions about age in gay relationships.”

Hey, we’ve been fawning over older guys and celebrating intergenerational relationships for some time now. We’re glad more people are jumping onto the bandwagon.

Check out the trailer for Daddyhunt below.

Austin May Become First City In Texas To Offer Trans-Inclusive Healthcare Benefits To Employees: VIDEO

Austin May Become First City In Texas To Offer Trans-Inclusive Healthcare Benefits To Employees: VIDEO

Austin

Last month, the Austin Police Department welcomed its first openly transgender officer. However, a widely overlooked footnote to the story of Senior Officer Greg Abbink (above) was that he had to pay for his surgery out of his retirement savings.

Fortunately, that may not be the case for the next city of Austin employee who transitions on the job. That’s because Austin is poised to become the first city in Texas to offer transgender-inclusive healthcare benefits to its employees.

The City Council is slated to consider a resolution Thursday under which the city’s health plan would cover primary care, hormone therapy, mental health care and surgical care for transgender employees beginning in 2015. Austin currently does not cover hormone therapy or surgical care for transgender employees, the resolution states.

The resolution notes that transgender healthcare is widely considered to be medically necessary and that 42 US cities currently cover it including Washington, D.C., Seattle, San Francisco, Portland, Miami Beach and Boston.

The resolution also states that utilization rates for trans-inclusive healthcare are as low as one in 20,000, and that studies have shown that 85 percent of employers that offer them face no additional costs.

Nevertheless, the The Travis County Taxpayers Association is opposing the resolution, according to KXAN-TV

“The City of Austin — and by virtue of the City of Austin — the taxpayers in the city of Austin, shouldn’t be footing the bill for any kind of elective surgery,” said Roger Falk, with the Travis County Taxpayers Union. …

Falk feels city leaders should focus their attention on issues affecting more people.

“It’s not our choice, it’s not our decision, and it’s not a public issue,” Falk said. “It’s a private issue, and we shouldn’t be having to pay for it.”

The resolution is sponsored by City Councilmen Mike Martinez and Chris Riley. Martinez is in a runoff for mayor on Dec. 16.

Watch KXAN’s report and read the resolution, AFTER THE JUMP…
