Seth Dunlap is the host of the weeknight sports show \u201cThe Last Lap With Seth Dunlap\u201d on WWL Radio in New Orleans. He\u2019s also gay<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, he was called a \u201cf*g\u201d by\u00a0the station\u2019s official Twitter page after he wrote an open letter to New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees about his partnership with the antigay hate group Focus on the Family.<\/p>\n

Now, according to a police report, the station claims Dunlap tweeted the slur himself by accessing the station\u2019s official Twitter account through his personal cellphone. Not only that, but he allegedly threatened to go \u201cscorched earth\u201d if they didn\u2019t pay him $1.85 million in damages.<\/p>\n

The police report, which summarizes allegations leveled by WWL\u2019s Senior Vice President Kevin Cassidy and attorneys for the station\u2019s corporate parent, Entercom, suggested law enforcement was still working to corroborate the station\u2019s allegations. For now, police have classified the case as a possible extortion, which Louisiana law defines, in part, as \u201cthe communication of threats to another with the intention (to) obtain anything of value.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The station says a forensic expert determined the tweet was sent \u201cfrom an Internet protocol address associated with Dunlap\u2019s cell\u201d and that CCTV footage taken inside the building showed Dunlap was \u201cin his office with the door closed at the time the tweet was sent.\u201d<\/p>\n

But his attorney, Megan Kiefer, says Entercom is \u201cillegally (using) the threat of criminal prosecution\u201d to bully Dunlap into agreeing to a lower settlement.<\/p>\n

She also says Dunlap didn\u2019t have access to WWL Radio\u2019s Twitter profile and accuses Entercom of trying to \u201ccreate a narrative to avoid its own culpability by implicating any innocent employee, including Seth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Kiefer notes, a polygraph test taken by Dunlap earlier this week showed no indication of lying when he was asked if he had any involvement whatsoever with the tweet.<\/p>\n

Clearly, there\u2019s more to this story that will surely come out as the police continue their investigation.<\/p>\n

If the accusations against Dunlap prove to be true, he could face up to 15 years in prison.<\/p>\n
