1)<\/strong> On Friday, the Downton Abbey <\/em>movie will open in theaters across the country. Based on the critically acclaimed series of the same name, the movie will follow the characters of the television show, preparing for a visit from The Queen. The film will also delve into the story of the gay<\/a> butler Thomas, and how he lives in the new decade. Watch the trailer below, and click here for tickets.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

2)<\/strong> Documentary Where\u2019s My Roy Cohn? <\/em>hits select theaters on Friday and will expand further in the coming weeks. The documentary is a history of the famed politician, infamously portrayed in Angels in America<\/em>, and how he paved the way for the Donald Trump presidency. 3)<\/strong> Zoey Luna, a transgender Latina actress,<\/a> has been cast in the reboot of the 1996 cult favorite The Craft<\/em>. She will be playing Lourdes, a trans<\/a> teenage<\/a> witch.\u00a0Written and directed by Zoe Lister-Jones, and produced by Blumhouse, The Craft <\/em>also cast Greenleaf\u2019s <\/em>Lovie Simone and Blockers\u2019 <\/em>Gideon Adlon. Given that there were no transgender characters in major studio films in 2018<\/a>, Luna\u2019s casting is a huge step forward for transgender representation in mainstream film.<\/p>\n

4)<\/strong> MTV Documentary Films has acquired the rights to film festival favorite Gay Chorus Deep South<\/em><\/a>, which follows 300 singers who traveled from Mississippi to Tennessee through the Carolinas, bringing a message of love and acceptance. It is set to premiere later in the fall. In further film news, HBO will distribute Bad Education<\/em><\/a>, a comedy starring Hugh Jackman as a closeted gay<\/a> school superintendent who becomes wrapped up in a scandal. In other film news, out bi actress Natalie Morales has been cast in crime thriller<\/a>\u00a0The Little Things,\u00a0<\/i>joining Denzel Washington and Rami Malek.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

5)<\/strong> The first trailer for season three of Netflix\u2019s Big Mouth <\/em>was released on Tuesday<\/a>. The show follows a group of teen<\/a> characters trying to understand puberty, including multiple queer characters. The trailer also teases a crossover with Queer Eye<\/em>, with the Fab Five voicing animated versions of themselves. Season three of Big Mouth <\/em>will be on Netflix October 4, and the trailer is below. In more TV news, it was announced that out bi<\/a> actress Stephanie Beatriz will be a guest star<\/a> in season three of Disney\u2019s Elena of Avalor. <\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

6)<\/strong> Out actress and recent Emmy winner Jane Lynch has announced a new Netflix show<\/a> from herself and singer Cyndi Lauper. While most details have been kept under wraps, Lynch has described it as \u201ca Golden Girls <\/em>for today.\u201d In more television news, GLAAD Media Award-nominated comedy Schitt\u2019s Creek <\/em>has announced that its sixth and final season<\/a> will premiere on Pop TV on January 7, 2020. A teaser has been released for the second season of The CW\u2019s All American<\/em><\/a>. <\/em>Watch the teaser below, featuring lesbian<\/a> character Coop.<\/p>\n

7)<\/strong>\u00a0NBC has put a comedy from out writer and comedian Nick Lehmann and Matt Hubbard into development called\u00a0<\/a>Like Son, Like Father<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em>The show will follow “Nick, an out and proud gay<\/a> man<\/a>, who finds himself in the unenviable position of assuming the role of his newly outed father\u2019s gay<\/a> mentor and new roommate.” Out actor and writer Dan Levy of Schitt’s Creek<\/em><\/a> <\/em>has signed an overall deal with ABC to produce scripted content for the network. Out writer and director Nahnatchka Khan has also signed a multi-year deal,<\/a> but with Netflix features, where she recently directed\u00a0Always Be My Maybe.<\/em><\/p>\n

8) <\/strong>Last weekend, the Creative Arts Emmys were given out in several categories<\/a>, including guest acting categories, short-form, and several technical categories. LGBTQ winners include Cherry Jones for her role on The Handmaid\u2019s Tale, <\/em>Jane Lynch for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, <\/em>four awards for Queer Eye <\/em>including Outstanding Structured Reality Program,<\/em> and three awards for RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race. <\/em>The rest of the Emmys will be handed out Sunday, September 22. 9)<\/strong>\u00a0Mila Jam released a new song and video<\/a> on Wednesday, \u201cEye\u00a0on You.\u201d\u00a0 The video<\/a> shows a relationship between her and queer artist Yves. Jam said to Billboard,<\/em><\/a> \u201cThe relationship onscreen is all about beauty and support, exactly what every trans<\/a> woman<\/a> deserves, what everyone in the community deserves.\u201d Watch the music video<\/a> below. Queer artist and producer Vigiletti has also released a new music video<\/a> for his song “Likable” with Goonsoul. The video<\/a> also features drag queen Laganja Estranja. 10)<\/strong> Charli XCX and out singer Troye Sivan released a music video<\/a> for their song “2099,” off XCX\u2019s newest album Charli. <\/em>Watch the music video here.<\/a> Out singer Brian Justin Crum released a new single \u201cBright\u201d today. The song is a call<\/a> for people to discover their inner light. Listen to \u201cBright\u201d here.<\/a> Out bi<\/a> pop singer Tove Lo released her newest album today, Sunshine Kitty. <\/em>It is available to download and stream here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

11)<\/strong> Short documentary Golden Voice<\/em> is currently funding to tell the story of\u00a0a\u00a0transgender man<\/a> who worked under the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia. Forty years later, the film follows Noy Sitha as he returns to his village\u00a0with his two best friends, also transgender men<\/a>.
