Like many of us, though, he\u2019s also obsessed with <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.queerty.com\/tag\/rupaul\">RuPaul<\/a>\u2019s Drag Race<\/em>. \u201cDrag is about putting on a performance and about performing for people,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s the exact same way whenever I\u2019m on stage competing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McNaghten attended his first Pride celebration in Belfast, Northern Ireland, this month, and his experience is one of the stories chronicled in the new BBC documentary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/programmes\/m000794f\"><em>My First Pride<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.queerty.com\/field-hockey-players-strip-battle-homophobia-sports-20171211\">Field hockey players strip down to battle homophobia in sports<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>It\u2019s a historic occasion for a <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">man<\/a> who has already made history. \u201cI\u2019m the first openly <a title=\"\" class=\"aalmanual\" target=\"_blank\"   href=\"https:\/\/chaturbate.com\/in\/?tour=R2Xc&#38;campaign=hl4zp&#38;track=gfcsb\">gay<\/a> strongman to come out in the UK and Ireland, possibly even Europe,\u201d he says in the documentary.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>The 30-year-old said it was difficult to come out, even when it came time to tell a coach who had become a best friend. \u201cI was just as nervous about telling him about it as I was about my dad,\u201d he explains. \u201cIt was a wee bit emotional.
