PragerU has long history of publishing anti-LGBTQ content<\/em><\/p>\n

PragerU <\/em>falsely claims<\/em><\/a> President Trump did not describe neo-Nazis as \u201cvery fine people\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

NEW YORK<\/strong> \u2013 GLAAD, the world\u2019s largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, today released the following background document on digital media non-profit PragerU. PragerU releases short videos<\/a> on their site, app, and via YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Last week, the nonprofit organization was in the news for being home to an interview<\/a> with TV host and actor Mario Lopez on The Candace Owens Show in which Owens asked Lopez about parents supporting their transgender children, referring to it as a \u201cweird trend.\u201d<\/p>\n

This week, following the tragedies in El Paso, TX and Dayton, OH, PragerU published a new video<\/a> falsely claiming President Trump did not use the \u201cvery fine people<\/a>\u201d phrase to describe white nationalists at the 2017 \u201cUnite the Right<\/a>\u201d rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, in which one person was killed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cContext needs to be provided to the media and all Americans about PragerU and the organization\u2019s destructive rhetoric, which includes attacking people of color and LGBTQ Americans while defending the rise of white nationalism in the United States,\u201d said Zeke Stokes, Chief Programs Officer for GLAAD.<\/strong> \u201cThis so-called university is nothing more than a think tank for hate.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to GLAAD\u2019s research, PragerU has dedicated content aimed at attacking people of color, the Islam religion, and the LGBTQ community. Further, PragerU has conducted interviews with many controversial public figures who are often hailed by the white supremacist movement, including Sebastian Gorka<\/a> and Steve Bannon<\/a> \u2013 former senior officials within the Trump Administration.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2014 In a video titled \u201cDangerous People Are Teaching Your Kids<\/a>,\u201d contributor Jordan Peterson includes the idea \u201cthat all sex<\/a> differences are socially constructed\u201d and \u201cfabricated gender pronouns\u201d among the supposedly evil ideas being taught in schools today. At another part he mocks the book for \u201cpretty much telling you that trans<\/a> is great.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014 Contributor Ashley McGuire produced a transphobic PragerU video<\/a> titled \u201cThere Are Only Two Genders\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Produced<\/a> a short video<\/a> attacking trans<\/a> women<\/a> in beauty pageants, insisting trans<\/a> women<\/a> are \u201chindering the ability for biological women<\/a> to compete.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014 Contributor Abigail Shrier produced a video<\/a> insisting that trans<\/a> rights and specifically pronoun usage is \u201ctotalitarian thinking\u201d and an attempt to \u201ccontrol people\u2019s thoughts\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Contributor Will Witt insisted<\/a> that trans<\/a> athletes are \u201cdestroying the quality that feminists are fighting for.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2014 On PragerU\u2019s The Candace Owens Show, Contributor Abigail Shrier insisted<\/a> that transgender is a changeable state that people outgrow.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2014 Contributor Ashley McGuire insisted<\/a> that trans<\/a> athletes in sports like mixed martial arts means that \u201cIt\u2019s now okay for a man<\/a> to hit a woman<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Tweeted<\/a> the skewed far-right talking point that \u201cA massive number of those who undergo transgender surgery contemplate suicide.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014 Tweeted<\/a> insistence that US military members are largely supportive of trans<\/a> ban: \u201cLeftists on social media may hate Trump’s proposed trans<\/a> ban, but you know who doesn’t? U.S. generals and admirals.\u201d (*Basing this on a skewed story from the right wing Washington Times)\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u2014 On PragerU\u2019s The Candace Owens Show, the host and guest Michael Knowles equated<\/a> being trans<\/a> with being schizophrenic and insisted that trans<\/a> rights are all an attempt to rejectreality.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Insisted<\/a> the pro-LGBTQ Southern Poverty Law Center \u201cfoments hate.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014 In a video titled \u201cThe Left Ruins Everything<\/a>,\u201d founder Dennis Prager cites \u201cimposed gender<\/p>\n

confusion\u201d as \u201cin some ways the scariest of all\u201d on his list of nine supposed things \u201cleftists\u201d have destroyed.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Tweeted<\/a>: \u201cFirst you think: Sex = Gender.Then you’re taught: Sex is biological; Gender is socially-constructed, non-binary and\/or fluid. And ultimately you understand: There’s a variety of personalities and forms of expression\u2014but there are only two genders.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014 Mocked<\/a> Elizabeth Warren for her plan to reimburse same-sex<\/a> couples<\/a> who were married before the Supreme Court\u2019s marriage decisions, calling it \u201cgay<\/a> reparations.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014 On The Candace Owens Show, the host and her guest, hip hop artist Zuby, mocked trans rights<\/a> by recounting the guest\u2019s entering into a women<\/a>\u2019s lifting completion to make a transphobic point about trans<\/a> athletes.<\/p>\n

\u2014 Contributor Will Witt attacked<\/a> feminist, inclusive children\u2019s books, asking at one point, \u201cwhat is this supposed to be about, transgender rights? The baby\u2019s not choosing their own gender? It\u2019s a baby! What does a baby know about gender confusion?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2014 Denied<\/a> that Family Research Council, one of the most viciously anti-LGBTQ special interests in American history, should be designated a hate group.<\/p>\n
