Transgender Woman Murdered in South Florida<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cKiki\u201d Fantroy, a transgender woman<\/a>, was murdered in Southwest Miami-Dade County late last week, on a street corner near an abandoned home. She is the 13th documented homicide<\/a> of a transgender woman<\/a> this year.<\/p>\n

The Miami Herald<\/em> reports<\/a>: \u2018The victim\u2019s mother had speculated publicly the past two days that her daughter was targeted because of her gender identity. But a law enforcement source familiar with the crime said Friday that police were \u201cmaking progress\u201d in the investigation and that they don\u2019t believe Fantroy\u2019s gender identity played any part in her death. \u2026Miami-Dade Police Detective Lee Cowart said Fantroy was shot several times and that there was a group of people nearby when the shooting happened. Police haven\u2019t said if the shooter was on foot or approached in a vehicle.\u00a0\u2018<\/p>\n
