Seth Meyers Taps the Winners, Losers, and Highlights of Last Night\u2019s CNN Democratic Debate: WATCH<\/b><\/p>\n

Seth Meyers<\/a> took a closer look at last night\u2019s CNN Democratic primary debate, the first of two nights in which ten candidates vying for the nomination faced off in Detroit. Meyers noted the winners and losers of the night, pulling out the best quips and comebacks.<\/p>\n

But first he looked at yesterday\u2019s session of Trump yelling over a helicopter, in which the president made some accidental confessions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no strategy, I have no strategy, there\u2019s zero strategy,\u201d said Trump about his racist tweets on Baltimore and Rep. Elijah Cummings<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Quipped Meyers: \u201cThat would be an accurate Trump response to literally any question.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meyers noted another accidental confession that came just moments later.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was also asked by reporters about a bipartisan election security bill that Mitch McConnell\u00a0is blocking,\u201d said Meyers. \u201cTrump tried to defend him, but I don\u2019t think his comments were helpful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Said Trump: \u201cMitch McConnell is a man<\/a> that knows less about Russia and Russia\u2019s influence than even Donald Trump, and I know nothing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Continued Meyers: \u201cI agree. I mean, this is a crazy day. And, again, an answer that could work for literally any question. After his presidency is over and they haul him in on obstruction of justice charges, he\u2019s going to be telling the cops, it was all\u00a0Mike Pence\u2019s\u00a0idea: \u2018I know nothing.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Meyers then moved on to the debate, and the tag team of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, and the \u201cbig questions\u201d ahead of the debate: \u201cLike who the hell are these guys<\/a>? (shows clip of John Hickenlooper, John Delaney, and Steve Bullock); would Beto bust out his Spanish again?; would Tim Ryan get caught touring the debate stage again (with backward baseball cap) looking like a pledge from Sigma Chi?; and would Marianne Williamson explode into a thousand butterflies that spell out the word \u2018love\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n

Meyers blasted the amount of time it took to get to an actual debate question \u2013 \u201cyou could have watched an entire episode of Veep.\u201d<\/p>\n

Next it was on to some of the best lines of the night. Bernie Sanders telling John Delaney \u201cyou\u2019re wrong\u201d and Elizabeth Warren scolding the rest of the field for using Republican talking points and saying the Democrats would be taking any piece of health care away from people.<\/p>\n

Said Meyers: \u201cElizabeth Warren will turn this car around right now and nobody\u2019s going to Disneyland!\u201d<\/p>\n

Bernie\u2019s feistiness was also on display when he blasted John Delaney regarding \u201cMedicare for All\u201d, telling Delaney that he \u201cwrote the damn bill.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tim Ryan better hope \u2018Medicare for All\u2019 passes, because he\u2019s gonna need some healthcare for that burn. Bernie scared him so bad Ryan turned white as a sheet 40 years ago. Tin Ryan got owned so hard his hat flew back on to his head.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hickenlooper mocked Bernie by telling him to throw his hands up, which Bernie did, and Hickenlooper mocked again.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like that\u2019s the first and only time John Hickenlooper has said, \u201cthrow your hands up. You don\u2019t challenge Bernie to pull a Bernie.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meyers then highlighted the line of the night, Elizabeth Warren\u2019s question: \u201cI don\u2019t know why anybody goes to all the trouble of running for president of the United States just to talk about what we really can\u2019t do and shouldn\u2019t fight for.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like if Ronald Reagan had said, \u2018Mr. Gorbachev, make this wall a little shorter.’\u201d<\/p>\n

Meyers also looked at Marianne Williamson\u2019s much-applauded answer on the Flint water crisis: \u201cWait, was that good? Is Marianne Williamson like one of those elves you have to listen to a couple<\/a> of times before you figure out what they\u2019re trying to do?\u201d<\/p>\n
