If there\u2019s one thing Broadway legend Patti LuPone is\u00a0not<\/em> it\u2019s a homophobe. She\u2019s been an LGBTQ ally since the very beginning and we\u2019re proud to have her in our corner.<\/p>\n

That said, even allies mess up sometimes.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, the two-time Tony and Grammy award winner took to Twitter to express her disgust with Sen. Lindsey Graham after he declined to call<\/a> Donald Trump racist over the whole \u201cgo back to where you came from\u201d controversy.<\/p>\n

\u201cLindsey Graham, you are a disgrace,\u201d LuPone tweeted. \u201cOn a personal note, why don\u2019t you just bite the bullet and come out. You might just come to your senses.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, we totally get it. Lindsey Graham is not a good guy<\/a> and certainly no friend to the LGBTQ community. Not only did he oppose the repeal of DADT and gay<\/a>-inclusive immigration reform, but he opposes gay<\/a> marriage, calling it a \u201croad to polygamy.\u201d<\/p>\n

That said, peddling gay<\/a> rumors is not a productive way of getting one\u2019s point across, and outing people is never OK. Not to mention, the whole \u201cLindsay Graham is gay<\/a>!\u201d joke is so pass\u00e9. And, anyway, his sexuality has absolutely nothing to do with Donald Trump\u2019s racist remarks.<\/p>\n

Needless to say, people were not\u00a0<\/em>pleased with Ms. LuPone\u2019s wisecrack.<\/p>\n
