Man wonders if he should tell wife he hooked up with dudes for 12 years while in the military<\/b><\/p>\n

\"Man<\/p>\n

A married man<\/a> has reached out for advice regarding his bisexual<\/a> past. In a letter to Dear Abby<\/em><\/a>, he wants to know: should he tell his wife he used to hook up with guys<\/a> on a regular basis?<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been married 36 years to a woman<\/a> who has saved my life and soul,\u201d the man<\/a>, identified only as \u201cDifferent Person Now\u201d writes. \u201cWe are both faithful to God and to our marriage, sharing the love of our family.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPrior to meeting her, for nearly 12 years through my military service and college years, I was actively bisexual<\/a>. I\u2019m not proud of this fact but learned it was more out of loneliness and experimentation than need.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

We\u2019re not sure about that last bit\u2026 but anyway\u2026<\/p>\n

The man<\/a> continues: \u201cIt weighs heavy on my heart. It melts me when she says \u2018I love you\u2019 and thanks me for sharing my life with her. I have prayed to God about this. Should I share this with my wife?\u201d<\/p>\n

Abby, as usual, gives sound advice.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see nothing positive to be gained by opening this long-closed chapter of your life with your wife at this late date,\u201d she writes. \u201cBecause you feel the need to talk about this, do it with your spiritual adviser.\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

Obviously, this man<\/a> is suffering from some nasty guilt over his past same-sex<\/a> experiences.<\/p>\n

Though we wish Abby had pointed out that people are never\u00a0formerly<\/em> bisexual<\/a>\u2013once a queer, always a queer, as they say\u2013her empathy shines through. The guy<\/a> definitely needs some counseling.<\/p>\n

That said, we can\u2019t help but wonder: why, exactly, is this so bothersome to \u201cDifferent Person\u201d now? Could he be feeling lonely and craving some experimentation now?<\/p>\n
