Norm Self describes making his adult film debut at age 83 as \u201csplendid.\u201d<\/p>\n

The retired clergyman from North Carolina tells\u00a0The Sun<\/em><\/a> he feels \u201cmore vibrant\u201d than ever, because his \u201cerotic energy has taken over\u201d since pivoting from a lifelong career in the church to a late career in adult entertainment two years ago.<\/p>\n

So far, 85-year-old Self has appeared in four gay<\/a> adult films since 2017. And while he hasn\u2019t been paid for his work, he\u2019s really not too concerned about that. Self is mainly in it for the sex<\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

And to inspire future generations not to feel trapped \u201cin the norm.\u201d<\/p>\n

Self, who recently appeared in the documentary \u201cOn The Game: The Sex Business,\u201d says his career change happened a few years ago when the person he was living with asked if he would ever consider doing gay<\/a> porn.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy housemate asked me if I\u2019d be in a film,\u201d he recalls. \u201cI was invited in and all of a sudden all this attention comes to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are going to have sex<\/a> anyway so why not make it a liberating and bonding experience instead of hiding it away in the shadows?\u201d<\/p>\n

Last year, Self, who came out as gay<\/a> in 1997, told Huffington Post<\/a><\/em> that making his first adult film was simply \u201cdelightful,\u201d saying the \u201cbest part was just being there and doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was splendid! How could it not be? (I was in) a blessed rural setting, surrounded by a cast and crew of loving, competent, supportive brothers intent on sharing the good news of the healing power of pleasure. What could be more delightful? And, if you\u2019ve seen the video<\/a>, with the two adorable models performing, what else could be lacking?\u201d<\/p>\n

Four films later, he\u2019s still having a blast. Or, as he put it,\u00a0\u201chaving a party.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked by HuffPo <\/em>what is the biggest misconception about older people and sex<\/a>, Self replied, \u201cI would speculate that the biggest misconception is that sex<\/a> \u2018wears out\u2019 and isn\u2019t for elders.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI would dispute this fabrication by pointing to many elders I know (even older than I am!) who regularly enjoy this sweet intimacy.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
