Will Aaron Schock\u2019s newly leaked clothes-free selfies finally bury his political career?<\/b><\/p>\n

Aaron Schock\u2019s public outing has continued with a series of clothes-free sexts hitting the innerwebs this morning<\/a>\u00a0(link NSFW<\/em>).\u00a0 We assume it\u2019s safe to say that his political career is pretty much toast, more for his shady financial dealings and hypocrisy than his shedding of clothes.<\/p>\n

The closeted life of the former U.S. Rep has made him the butt<\/a> of jokes ever since taking office in 2009. Rumors about his sexuality began when he appeared in Men\u2019s Health<\/em> magazine<\/a> with his pecs on full display and then later on when he showed up to\u00a0a 2010 White House picnic in white jeans, a pink gingham shirt and a teal belt.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0burned the belt<\/a> after the photo of his colorful picnic outfit went viral, but straight men<\/a> don\u2019t burn teal belts in dramatic\u00a0Dynasty<\/em> fashion, they just throw them away. So we knew he was lying when he told a Chicago newspaper in 2004 and Details<\/em> magazine in 2009 that he wasn\u2019t gay<\/a>. He kept up the ruse at the 2012\u00a0Republican National Convention when he told\u00a0HuffPo\u2019s Michelangelo Signorile<\/a>\u00a0that he wasn\u2019t gay<\/a>, calling Signorile\u2019s inquiry \u201cinappropriate and ridiculous\u201d and not \u201cworthy of further response.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course,\u00a0Signorile partially asked\u00a0Schock about his sexuality because of the then-U.S. Rep\u2019s anti-LGBTQ voting record. Schock supported both the so-called Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and opposed the repeal of \u201cDon\u2019t Ask Don\u2019t Tell.\u201d In 2014,\u00a0The New York Times<\/em>\u00a0more or less repeated rumors of his gayness<\/a>\u00a0after a post by\u00a0Facebook user\u00a0Itay Hod\u00a0effectively outed Schock<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Then the real political burn started in 2015 when he came under investigation for allegedly misusing taxpayer money and campaign donations to fund his lavish lifestyle. He allegedly spent $40,000 of taxpayer money to\u00a0expensively decorate his congressional office<\/a> to look like Downton Abbey<\/em><\/a>, he took\u00a0a male<\/a> \u201ccompanion\u201d on an unreported all-expenses-paid trip to India<\/a>\u00a0and spent lavishly<\/a> on private jets, shopping trips, Katy Perry concert tickets and fancy hotels.<\/p>\n

The investigation proved too much for Schock, who resigned from office and subsequently left Instagram for 83 weeks<\/a>. The investigation into his spending then ended in March 2019 when prosecutors dropped all charges<\/a> against Schock in exchange to him pleading guilty to\u00a0a misdemeanor count of failing to properly report expenses. Shock also agreed to pay back\u00a0$42,000 to the IRS and $68,000 to his congressional campaign fund.<\/p>\n

Schock has apparently dropped the whole \u201cI\u2019m not gay<\/a>\u201d schtick as a series of recent snapshots have shown him making out with a dude and shoving his hand down his pants<\/a> at Coachella (there was even video<\/a>), trying to pick up a guy poolside<\/a> just last week and now the clothes-free sexts.<\/p>\n

We wondered whether he was planning a political comeback<\/a>, but that idea may be toast now. Politicians rarely get re-elected after their images in the buff go viral. It\u2019s more likely that he\u2019ll use his influence to provide high dollar political consulting outside of the public view: that way we can misuse funds however he wants without public mockery of his Marie Antoinette tastes or further gawking into his glass closet.<\/p>\n
