Donald Trump has apparently chosen his nickname for Pete Buttigieg: Mad<\/em> magazine mascot Alfred E. Neuman.<\/p>\n

Said Trump to Politico<\/a>: \u201cAlfred E. Neuman cannot become president of the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump made his first public attack on Buttigieg on Wednesday night at a rally in Florida<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Said Trump: \u201cWe got some real beauties. We got a choice between Sleepy Joe and Crazy Bernie. I\u2019ll take any of them, let\u2019s just pick somebody please and let\u2019s start this thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPick somebody!\u201d he demanded, looking into the crowd. \u201cWe have a young man<\/a>, Butt-ig-ieg, boot-edge-edge, they say\u00a0edge<\/em>\u2013edge<\/em>,\u201d said Trump.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s got a great chance doesn\u2019t he?\u201d Trump asked dismissively. \u201cHe\u2019ll be great. He\u2019ll be great. Representing us against President Xi of China. I want to be in that room, I want to watch that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Buttigieg responded to the attack on Thursday, saying<\/a>, \u201cYou can\u2019t get too worried about the name calling and the games he plays. I was thinking of a Chinese proverb that goes, when the wind changes, some people build walls and some people build windmills. You gotta recognize that we need something that is completely different from what is in this White House. The negotiations that they are conducting, whether it\u2019s on trade or things like North Korea, are usually a personal high-wire act with no safety net.\u201d<\/p>\n
