\"\"1)<\/strong> Out actress Kristen Stewart has been cast as a lead in an upcoming film<\/a> inspired by the works and letters of William Burroughs. The film will follow a love triangle between Burroughs (director Ben Foster), his muse, Joan (Stewart), and an American named Allerton (Tom Glynn-Carney).<\/p>\n

2) <\/strong>The first teaser has been released for The CW\u2019s upcoming Batwoman<\/em><\/a>, which was officially picked up to series this week. The teaser shows the first glimpse of the history-making lesbian<\/a> hero, played by out actor Ruby Rose. The show is expected to premiere this fall on The CW.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

3)<\/strong> Out actress Amandla Stenberg has been cast in the upcoming Netflix musical show The Eddy.<\/em><\/a> She will play Julie, the teenage<\/a> daughter of main character Elliot, who shows up suddenly in Paris and forces him to face his past. The show is expected to premiere in 2020. In other Netflix news, the streaming service has announced a 2020 interactive special of their show Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt<\/em><\/a>. <\/em>Out actor Tituss Burgess will return to play gay<\/a> character Titus in the \u201cchoose your own adventure\u201d special.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

4)<\/strong> A trailer for the second season of Spike Lee\u2019s She\u2019s Gotta Have It<\/em> was released on Thursday. The trailer shows pansexual protagonist Nola\u2019s continuing journey with her art, as well as her new relationship with Opal. The season will be released on May 24 on Netflix. Netflix also debuted the\u00a0trailer for season three of Designated Survivor, <\/em>which they picked up after its ABC cancellation. The trailer has the introduction of a new character played by trans<\/a> actress Jamie Clayton, as well as a glimpse of new queer characters. 5)<\/strong> NBC has ordered a new comedy from Kal Penn and Mike Schur called Sunnyside<\/em><\/a>, <\/em>which includes out actor and comedian Joel Kim Booster in the main cast. In other TV news, Showtime\u2019s Billions<\/em> has been renewed for a fifth season<\/a>; the show includes non-binary actor Asia Kate Dillon in the main ensemble, playing non-binary character Taylor Mason. Also renewed is Nickelodeon\u2019s The Loud House<\/em>,<\/a> which features multiple queer characters in a show aimed at younger audience. Season five will premiere on May 27.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

6)<\/strong> The Critics\u2019 Choice Real TV Award nominations were announced this week, the first for these new awards, which honor the best in nonfiction, unscripted and reality television. Some standout nominees are RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race, Hollywood Game Night, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, <\/em>and Queer Eye, <\/em>which received the GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Reality Program this year. 7)<\/strong> AM to DM, <\/a><\/em>the morning show from Buzzfeed News, has tapped two new hosts<\/a>, queer writers Alex Berg and Zach Stafford. Berg has guest hosted and produced AM to DM<\/em>, while Stafford is Editor-in-Chief of The Advocate. <\/em>They will start as hosts on May 28.<\/p>\n

8)<\/strong>\u00a0Writer, producer, and director Janet Mock is being honored with the Vanguard Award at the upcoming Split Screens Film Festival. She is being recognized for her work on Pose<\/em>, and will be given the Award on June 1st<\/sup> at the festival in New York, followed by a screening of her Pose <\/em>episode \u201cLove is the Message.\u201d For tickets and more information, click here.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

9)<\/strong> Out singer and songwriter Brandi Carlile has released a music video<\/a> for her song \u201cThe Mother\u201d off of the Grammy Award-winning album By the Way, I Forgive You. <\/em>The video<\/a> is dedicated to mothers everywhere, and shows many different mothers and families, including several queer families. 10)<\/strong>\u00a0Kim Petras released a new single \u201cBlow It All\u201d with an accompanying lyric video<\/a>. The song is available to stream here<\/a>, and watch the video<\/a> below!<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

11)<\/strong> Non-binary singer and songwriter Grayson released their EP today, Head to Head. <\/em>They also released an accompanying music video<\/a> for\u00a0their single \u201cCherry Pits.\u201d Stream the EP here,<\/a> and watch the video<\/a> below.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

12)<\/strong> Queer creator AJ Knight is crowdfunding to shoot a pilot for his comedy series Daisy Boy, <\/em>which follows a high school boy<\/a> in the South who is closeted, but lives in his head as unapologetically flamboyant and fearless. The show is aimed to show queer kids, especially in the South, the power of being one\u2019s authentic self.
