\u201cAudiences are clearly hungry for new stories and perspectives, and fans are showing up to support the content that is telling stories they recognize and can relate to,\u201d GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis said in our 2018-19 Where We are on TV <\/em>Report<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This is extremely apparent when looking at E!\u2019s TV\u2019s Top Couple poll,<\/a> where fans are voting to choose which couple<\/a> is their favorite on television. Starting in mid-April, 64 couples<\/a> were chosen, and have been slowly getting\u00a0narrowed down, bracket style. Earlier this week, the top four were announced and they were all queer couples<\/a> from GLAAD Media Award-nominated shows: Magnus and Alec from Freeform’s\u00a0Shadowhunters<\/em>, David and Patrick from Pop TV’s\u00a0Schitt\u2019s Creek<\/em>, Waverly and Nicole from Syfy’s\u00a0Wynonna Earp<\/em>, and Arist\u00f3teles and Temo from Mi Mariado Tiene Mas Famila <\/em>on\u00a0Las Estrellas. Now, only two remain \u2013 David and Patrick and Arist\u00f3teles and Temo.<\/p>\n

David has long been a fan-favorite on comedy Schitt\u2019s Creek<\/em>, a pansexual man<\/a> with a witty remark for everything, played by out co-creator Dan Levy. Two seasons ago, the show introduced Patrick (Noah Reid) as David\u2019s business partner, who became his boyfriend, and most recently his fianc\u00e9. \u201cI like to feel like it\u2019s all this wonderful sort of magic of relationships and how people can change each other\u2019s lives in really wonderful and unexpected ways,\u201d Levy said to Entertainment Weekly<\/em><\/a> about the love story between David and Patrick.<\/p>\n

Mexican telenovela Mi Mariado Tiene Mas Famila <\/em>is making waves, not just for being one of the most popular shows in\u00a0several countries, but also for the inclusion of wildly popular couple<\/a> Arist\u00f3teles (Emilio Osorio) and Temo (Joaqu\u00edn Bondoni), dubbed \u201cAristemo\u201d by their fans. The story of their relationship got a huge fan response, and also encouraged a spinoff of the two,\u00a0Aristemo, La Serie<\/em>, which will premiere this summer. \u201cSeeing so many Latinx individuals embrace the identities of these two characters provides me with so much pride and leaves me wanting more of the storyline,\u201d GLAAD intern Genesis Gil wrote on the boundary breaking show. <\/a><\/p>\n
