Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro: \u2018We Can\u2019t Let Brazil Become a Gay Tourism Paradise. We Have Families\u2019<\/b><\/p>\n

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has dropped his latest anti-LGBTQ bomb.<\/p>\n

Bolsonaro told reporters at a breakfast meeting: \u201cIf you want to come here and have sex<\/a> with a woman<\/a>, go for your life. But we can\u2019t let this place become known as a gay<\/a> tourism paradise. Brazil can\u2019t be a country of the gay<\/a> world, of gay<\/a> tourism. We have families.\u201d<\/p>\n

LGBTQ advocates immediately blasted the remarks.<\/p>\n

Federal Deputy David Miranda said<\/a>: \u201cThis is not a head of state \u2013 this is a national disgrace. He is staining the image of our country in every imaginable way.\u201d<\/p>\n

In March, Bolsonaro tweeted a video of two men<\/a>\u00a0on a platform performing a public sex<\/a> act as a response to criticism of his administration during this year\u2019s Carnival. Bolsonaro also\u00a0plans to eliminate all LGBTQ content<\/a>\u00a0from schools. And his\u00a0government has wasted no time<\/a>\u00a0resurrecting bills banning gay<\/a> marriage.<\/p>\n

Bolsonaro recently stood next to Donald Trump at the White House and said the U.S. and Brazil stood \u201cside by side\u201d to reject LGBTQ rights.<\/p>\n

Said Bolsonaro (via translator) at the Trump meeting: \u201cIn conclusion, may I say that Brazil and the United States stand side-by-side in their efforts to ensure liberties and respect the traditional family lifestyles and respect to God, our creator, against the gender ideology and the politically correct attitudes and against fake news.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jean Wyllys, the gay<\/a> congressman who recently fled the country because of death threats, blasted Bolsonaro in a video<\/a> posted to Twitter: \u201cWith this unhappy declaration and this unhappy gesture against the LGBT community, Bolsonaro is simply being Bolsonaro.\u201d<\/p>\n
