Bill Maher and his panelists S.E. Cupp and Andrew Sullivan slammed George Clooney for his call for a boycott of the Dorchester Collection hotel group because it\u2019s owned by the government of Brunei<\/a>, which will shortly implement a punishment of death by stoning for gay<\/a> sex<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Said Maher: \u201cThis really bothers me because it\u2019s chickenshit tokenism because, what about Saudi Arabia? If you really want to get back at them, stop driving. Don\u2019t use oil.\u201d<\/p>\n

Added Sullivan: \u201cThe nice thing about a free society is that you can have your political life, and then you can have your actual life<\/em>. Love and sex<\/a> and friendship and activities. Not everything you buy has to be filtered through this political lens. \u2026 We shouldn\u2019t be dictating our lives like a religion, according to the dictates of wokeness. It kills the vitality of a society.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not just Saudi Arabia,\u201d Cupp chimed in. \u201cIt\u2019s UAE where Hollywood does a ton of business.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd don\u2019t go to a cocktail party with MBS (Mohammad Bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia),\u201d added Sullivan, \u201ca torturer and dictator. Hollywood sucked up to him incredibly. As if there was no worry about a dictator who is currently sweeping his own family of possible enemies.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maher continued: \u201cGeorge Clooney\u2019s a really smart guy<\/a> who made a movie Syriana<\/em> which is about the Middle East. \u2026 I don\u2019t think you could make that movie if you really didn\u2019t know what was going on. \u2026 This idea that the Sultan of Brunei is going over the receipts from the Polo Lounge, \u2018oh no! We only sold two soups today!’\u201d<\/p>\n

Sullivan piled on to take a swipe at Rachel Maddow: \u201cPeople can smell it. Its just virtue signaling. It\u2019s like that whole Rachel Maddow smug thing. And it\u2019s like, \u2018no you\u2019re not.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s just take down one liberal at a time,\u201d Maher laughed.<\/p>\n
