Attorney General Presents His Take on the Mueller Report to Congress: Read It with Reactions<\/b><\/p>\n

Attorney General William Barr, a Trump appointee who was asked to recuse himself from the Mueller probe but refused, has presented his summary of Special Counsel Robert Mueller\u2019s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election to Congress. <\/p>\n

The letter offers Barr\u2019s take on Mueller\u2019s findings. Read the letter below.<\/p>\n

The letter is being seen as a political win for Trump.<\/p>\n

NYT<\/a>: \u201cThe investigation led by Robert S. Mueller III found that neither President Trump nor any of his aides conspired or coordinated with the Russian government\u2019s 2016 election interference, according to\u00a0a summary of the special counsel\u2019s findings<\/a> made public on Sunday by Attorney General William P. Barr. Mr. Barr also said that Mr. Mueller\u2019s team drew no conclusions about whether Mr. Trump illegally obstructed justice. Mr. Barr and the deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, concluded that the special counsel\u2019s investigators lacked sufficient evidence to establish that Mr. Trump committed that offense, but added that Mr. Mueller\u2019s team stopped short of exonerating Mr. Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile this report does not conclude that the president committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him,\u201d Barr wrote.<\/p>\n

The Washington Post <\/em>reports<\/a>: \u2018\u201cThe Special Counsel\u2019s investigation did not find that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election,\u201d says\u00a0the four-page summary<\/a> by Attorney General William P. Barr. The letter notes that Mueller\u2019s probe found no evidence of such a conspiracy \u201cdespite multiple offers from Russia-affiliated individuals to assist the Trump campaign.\u201d On the question of whether the president might have sought to obstruct the high-profile investigation, Mueller\u2019s team did not offer a definitive answer. \u201cThe Special Counsel .\u2009.\u2009. did not draw a conclusion \u2014 one way or the other \u2014 as to whether the examined conduct constituted obstruction,\u201d Barr\u2019s letter to lawmakers states.\u2019<\/p>\n

The White House is claiming \u201ctotal and complete exoneration\u201d of Trump.<\/p>\n
