Studio Pressuring \u2018Rocketman\u2019 Filmmakers to Cut Taron Egerton and Richard Madden Sex Scene for PG-13 Rating: REPORT<\/b><\/p>\n

The Dexter Fletcher-directed Elton John biopic Rocketman<\/em> starring Taron Egerton, Richard Madden, and Jamie Bell is getting big buzz, and now there\u2019s an unconfirmed report that Paramount is pressuring filmmakers to cut a very gay<\/a>, very nude<\/a> sex<\/a> scene to achieve a PG-13 rating. Madden plays John Reid, Elton\u2019s manager and lover.<\/p>\n

Writes Baz Bamigboye in the Daily Mail<\/em><\/a>: \u201cParamount Pictures have demanded that Rocketman director Dexter Fletcher and producer Matthew Vaughn cut a 40-second scene that shows Egerton, who plays the singer and Madden, cast as his one-time lover and manager John Reid, writhing on a bed. Fully exposed white derrieres are on display, but the nude<\/a> escapade is tastefully done. Nonetheless, Paramount are forcing the director to cut the scene so it will have an American PG 13 rating (roughly the equivalent of a British 12A).\u201d<\/p>\n

The report suggests the studio asked for the cut because it wants to replicate the box office success of Bohemian Rhapsody<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Egerton talked about the sex<\/a> scene last November.<\/p>\n

Egerton told\u00a0<\/a>The List<\/a><\/em>:\u00a0\u201cI probably shouldn\u2019t be telling you this but we have a sex<\/a> scene. We went to some places together and got quite physical.\u00a0I\u2019ve watched it back and I think it looks great. The grown-up nature of the film, combined with it being a musical, makes it feel quite zeitgeisty. I don\u2019t know if I\u2019m allowed to say this but it\u2019s basically about Elton in rehab, so we\u2019re not watering anything down.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paramount previewed footage from the film this week at The Troubadour in West Hollywood.<\/p>\n

Wrote <\/a>Variety<\/a><\/em>\u2018s Marc Malkin of the event<\/a>: \u2018Before \u201cBohemian Rhapsody\u201d was even released, a trailer sent some critics into a tailspin because they thought that its lack of gay<\/a> content meant the film was going to be straight-washed. How far \u201cRocketman\u201d goes isn\u2019t clear from Monday\u2019s preview except for a glimpse at a flirtation between the singer and his future boyfriend and manager John Reid \u00a0(Richard Madden). Egerton did tell MTV News in November that the two share a love scene together and predicted the LGBTQ community will whole-heartedly embrace the movie.\u2019<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s hope that footage stays in.<\/p>\n
